We had an amazing time here for an overnighter with our Cub Scout Pack. There are 4 floors of fun activities and learning opportunities for kids of all ages plus the "Tower" in the center of the whole place for burning off some of the extra energy. I definitely recommend spending the day here if you can.

Amazement Square is fun for all ages. From toddlers to adults, there is something to entertain. It s the perfect way to spend a day having fun. The barnyard area for toddlers is interactive and adorable. All the science based exhibits for the older kids are interesting and creative.

A lot of fun. Great for the price. Need a few monitors to help the "parents" keep the kids from running and smashing into little kids. Front desk guy was very friendly on the phone and in person.

Stellar place to take the kids! Cool spot in downtown with some family-friendly eats nearby, as well as a walking park and river front. Amazement Square does a lot of great events and community events, but just a normal day holds tons of fun and learning experiences. Paint the walls, climb a tower indoors, slide back down to the bottom, play and explore different centuries. All ages - it's great!

WOW !!! This place is so fun. I think I had as much fun as the kids did. There are so many interactive displays that teach kids about all sorts of things. The slides cargo nets zipline and climbing equipment were a hit. This place is great to learn and exercise. My kids were worn out when we left. This is a must go to in Lynchburg.

A fun place to take my three year old Granddaughter. I would say this place is excellent for ages 3-8. Wish they would have a discount for 2 adults and 1 child. Kind of a pricey afternoon for the three of us.

Bring our 2 year old whenever we re visiting family and she loves this place. Especially the farm exhibit, where she can milk the cow, and the paint room. Even when there are larger groups there, we still have a great time. I m really, really happy with the under 36 months room.

I have always loved coming here since I was a kid! Now as an adult I brought my son here and we both had a blast! I can still climb through the tubes and slides.
I love all the different areas there is too much to put in a review you have to experience it for yourself.
The river exhibit and the observation deck on the top floor are 2 of my favourite parts.

I didn't think it was going to be as fun as it was!! Family affair and we enjoyed ourselves. We learned about the city of Lynchburg, how certain places obtained there name. A very fun and creative way to educate the youth. My three favorites were the staircase that lights up, the glass paint room, and the studio!!!

This place is for kids that can RUN & WALK on their own - and not for those that have a physical disability. Upon arriving, the staff could not tell me if the bathrooms were handicap accessible, which tells me that apparently my kid was the first one as such to have come there. There are stairs everywhere, most of the, if not all, of the play areas are for kids that can walk and maneuver on their own without much parent involvement. Despite my little guy trying to do everything he could - it's for children that can RUN, WALK, and TALK and tell the staff if they need something. Forget about trying to be safe on uneven floors while trying to aid your CP child from station to station. Unsafe plastic step stools - tight and narrow stations with stairs - makes it that much harder to aid a child with CP in accomplishing a task. Additionally, there were no handicap parking down the streets of Lynchburg - most parking was 2 HRS only - steep hill going down from the all day $5 parking garage - meaning a steep hill to push up a wheelchair back to said garage with no clear handicap ramp/entrance. Very unfriendly southern town that I will not be going back to!

Kids loved it. Something for everyone to do. But the costumes they have with the birthday are horrible. They need to throw those away and get new ones. They are very dirty and old. But everyone there's super friendly!

I used to love this place as a kid , i am 23 now and i wanted to go back and see it again. I called and asked if there was an age restriction and they told me no they everyone is welcome. Well i get there ( mind you i live a good 2 hours from here) and i was told that i was not allowed in unless i had a child with me . I am furious that i wasted my gas and time to only be turned away.

We had my daughters birthday party here and I actually overpaid them by $70 because my family was a bit unorganized but I didn't mind because my 3 year old and her best friend can't get enough of it! They loved the paint room, music studio, boats, etc Bring alot of hand sanitizer though because of kids germs of course!

We loved visiting Amazement Square with our 4, 6, 7, and 9 year olds. We have been to a lot of children's museums, and often they have not been cared for and have fallen into disrepair, but here everything was clean and operating as expected. Our favorite exhibits were the painting room, the golf ball ramps, and the waterway with locks! We will definitely be back next time we are in Lynchburg.

There was plenty to do for all ages. Loved the activities (especially the farm theme & the James River) However, I did find that there were unsupervised children using the elevator (older children were using the facility/elevator as their own social club). Many running & hitting each other with the big blocks in the "building" area. Seemed under staffed. But we still had fun.

Great fun! We've taken 2 class field trips to Amazement Square, and both were incredible. There are lots of fun things for kids to do. Mine are 8 and 10 and they spent hours climbing and interacting with the exhibits. Their favorite part was crawling in the tubes. The staff is also super friendly. I hope to return soon with my other kids!

My child was invited to a birthday party at Amazement Square. Fantastic! They have an awesome play area on 2nd floor for toddlers only. That was a hit. My Kindergartener loved the paint room on basement level.

Fun place. Volunteer Theresa in the toddler room is great with enforcing the age rule for the room so the toddlers can have a space for themselves. Even the block around the building is fun. Workers are caring

We took our four year olds and ended up finding fun for the whole family. The kids had a blast on the four story playground, checking out the bees, painting, playing on the farm, and exploring their native american and water exhibits. My husband and his dad deffinitely enjoyed building with the crane as well as with the other magnetic blocks and architectural items they had. Super clean, really fun, bathrooms on every floor, easy to keep track of your child while allowing them some freedom, and complimentary locker for bags!

Amazement Square is a great place to bring the kids, but do you have to charge the parents?

Amazement square, if I'm not mistaken, is a converted old building (warehouse) that was transformed into a 4 floor activity, educational and entertaining kids dream land. Spread out over the several floors is a vast array of things for kids to play with, on and inside of. There's a place for every child's imagination here. Whether they're the next Einstein, Picasso or Indiana Jones, Amazement square has something to entertain them while teaching all the while.

Though there have been several updates through the years, I would like to see more changes take place. Some of the activities have been worn down a little and though it's still fun to play around with the many stations and activities, they are starting to show their age.

My biggest quandary with the place is that they charge the parents as well as the child. Now, if this was the Boston Museum of Science, I could understand it, but I find that there is little for the parents to do after a few trips. Of course it's fun to interact with your kids when they are creating a ball drop maze or launching golf balls down the wooden roller coaster like ramp, but give our wallets a break. The place feels genuinely focused on kids, the way it should be, but at least discount the price for parents. When you bring a family of 4, you're going to drop $40. That's not cheap in this economy for an already struggling family that just wants their kids to have a good life.

So always look around for coupons and get ready for a fun afternoon.

Amazing. I've been to similar play areas up north in large cities and this is by far the best. I wish they had more room to expand downtown because they keep coming up with great play areas. Nearby parking. Safe area. Accessible Bathrooms on every level.

Award winning children's museum next to the James River in Downtown Lynchburg, Virginia. The childrens' parties there are engaging, full of history, science and lots of interactive stimulation for young minds.

It is a fun place for kids, big or small. Some of the exhibits I think are neat and well done (the waterworks exhibit with ships and canals, etc; the crane exhibit where you can replace the steeples on two churches; ones on native American life). Others are a bit mediocre, or (in my opinion) don't teach the kids as much. To be fair, exhibits do change, and overall I think they've done a great job. Plenty of kids and parents seem to think it well worth the time and money; it's always pretty full. As always, parental guidance can make a lot or a little out of the experience.

Kids always love it here. Lots to do and so much to explore. If you have kids, this place is an absolute must!

There are four floors to explore. There are tunnels and slides and ladder and even a Zipline to travel between floors. If that is too much for you, you can always use the elevator or light-up stairs!

My daughter threw a birthday party in the evening for a 6 year old. The staff were helpful. The biggest issue was we were rushed. 121.00 only to be told she had 1 hr. And, they were closing down. That's 1 hour to decorate, play, eat, and clean up after a whole party. It was money wasted. We let them play gave them all 1 slice of pizza and cleaned. Took the cake and ice cream part to my daughter's house.

Lots of activities for kids. Age group I d recommend is toddler and up. The first time we went there was when my LO was 8 months old and all we did was go into the room with the pirate ship and play with toys, spoons etc., which is something we could have done at home. Times we visited LO turned 1 were much better because LO was able to play and explore.
I wish you only had to pay for kids and not both kids and adults. There isn t much adults can do, other than observe and monitor their kids. Charging only for kids entrance would increase traffic and revisits.

So many of the interactive exhibits were not in working order. Most of it has been there for 5 years+ and needs to be updated. If it's your first time going, it'll be fun but we've seen it too many times so now it's just boring. Waste of money and it's not exactly cheap admission.
