If u have kids or kids r visiting GO. I'm 62 and had a great time. Acted more like a kid than I have in years. A multi-floor jungle gym with educational displays on each level. Grand kids didn't want to leave and neither did i

A wonderful place to spend time with your children and grandchildren .. no matter what age you are you will enjoy your time here. I loved watching my grandchildren explore and touch and learn but I also loved watching my children (um 30 something haha) relive their childhood it was wonderful...

We have had a family membership here for about a year. My kids absolutely love it! My only complaint is that it feels a bit dirty, but you can't really keep a place like that clean. Little kids are constantly making messes. We will be getting the membership every year until our kids outgrow it. It's a great thing to do on a rainy day.

This place is great! The Amazement Tower, which runs through the middle of all four floors of the building, is a ton of fun all by itself. That's only the start as each floor features all sorts of exhibits for all ages of kids (and grown-ups, too). $9 a head isn't the cheapest ticket in town, but the experience is worth several times that. My kids were begging to go back even before we'd left the parking lot.

Can not believe some of the reviews: "no food inside..plan ahead." The place is not a restaurant and you should always plan ahead..even if you are at home you shoudl plan ahead; why would someone write this in a review about a place doesn't pretend to be a food court? A jewel; a great place for kids and families. BUT..plan ahead...about food and restrooms? Maybe you folks should plan ahead and stay at home?

Note: Make sure you have a ratio of 1 adult per child...I brought 6 children, 11, 6, two 5, 3 & 1.5 year olds, myself and partner. I lost 2 in the matter of minutes due to the giant jungle gym in the middle of the building.

Had tons of fun, recommended slide on shoes cus your constantly taking shoes off and on. Also Amazment square participates in Museums for All so you get discounted if you use WIC or EBT.

Spent a couple hours there with my kids, ages 5 and 3, while visiting from out of town, and we had an absolute blast. The highlights of the morning were the paint room, where we donned smocks and were allowed to paint on the walls with abandon, an activity center that hosted a special craft, a theater for enacting plays, a puppet theater, and a "raceway" station with lots of slopes and structures on which to roll golf balls. Wishing we had budgeted about 3 hours instead of two. One of the better quality Children's Museums we've ever been to, with four whole floors of creative and well-maintained activities.

Amazement square was a lot of fun, even for adults. I went there with my girlfriend and still enjoyed ourselves. I'd imagine it would be a ton of fun with kids. There are slides, tubes, and ladders so that kids can climb to any of the exhibits. The exhibits are varied and include focuses on history, games, and science.

This place has been named exactly what it should be named! I absolutely was amazed by everything in this place. My kids and I had a blast exploring every single book and cranny of every single floor of this place even all the way up into the tower to look out over the James river! This place, as I said before, (and my kids are DEFINITELY in agreement) is AMAZING!! You have got to see Amazement Square for yourself to really get to appreciate the truly amazing wonder that it is. Don't pass it off! You and your kids will be so happy that you decided to go!

Im giving one star because I think it's crazy you can't take a stroller throughout the building. It doesn't help mothers out very much when they have a toddler and an infant who is napping in the stroller, be able to watch their older child. Thank god my sister came with me and was able to take my child to play while the baby stayed down in the lobby with me and napped. Considering this place is geared towards children and families they should seriously consider changing that rule.

LOVE this place. We take my 2 year old here once a week. This is a 4 story children's museum with tons of tactile activities as well as challenging science, history and nature based interactive exhibits. The 4 story human sized gerbil maze is the best part! You can literally climb and slide your way through the entire museum! The do date night evening programs occasionally and special events. They have a contained room for small kids with a pirate ship. It's a great place for a kid to get creative, be challenged and get some physical exercise! The yearly pass is definitely worth it and pays for itself if you plan to go more than twice.

We've done a lot of children's museums and science centers, but I think this one really is exceptional. Friendly staff. Super clean! And almost all the exhibits were in perfect working order. A wide variety of engaging exhibits. My kids are 2 and 5 and there was a lot that kept their attention for a long time! There was a large group of 5th graders there at the same time, and they also seemed very engaged. The climbing tower that goes to all 4 floors was great too.

A bit small for the price; the one in Richmond is the same price but 2-3x the size. The information plaques could have been written in a more child- friendly manner. My six year old would ask what they said and by the time I finish the two paragraphs (I don't read THAT slow) she was onto the activity or another exhibit. She had a great time, though.

This is such a fun children's museum. The only thing that would make it better for me would be if they made it feel a little more safe/secure somehow since taking multiple children to such a large, multi-level place can make a mom feel anxious.

This is a great children's 'museum' with enough to offer for different age groups. The museum has 4 floors that each offer unique experiences for kids. We go to kids museums all over and i was happy enough to buy an annual pass for all of us. The bottom floor has a music room, a space for painting on plexi glass and a creation lab where kids can create whatever they want out of donated materials. Well worth the trip and we're looking forward to going back.

We've visited Amazement Square a few times, and my kids just love it! There are SO many different things to do, that we sometimes can't even get to all the activities before my kids start getting tired. I love that there is so much variety that you can go back many, many times and always have something that feels new to do without getting bored or it feeling repetitive. It's so much fun for the kids! They love it!

Awesome place for kids. My grandchildren enjoyed the crane operation area. You just have to ask for someone to open and instruct the children. Another great area was the paint room. The staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful to the children.

My kids love going and interacting with the exhibits, and always learn something while there. The staff are extremely helpful and seem genuinely interested in providing a fun learning experience for children. There are intermittent issues with the reliability of some of the exhibits, but nothing beyond what would be expected with many children constantly playing with them.

I say three stars because I do think it s a great place for kids. But last January I had an after hours birthday party for my three year old. It was freezing outside so they had the heat on full blast. The party room is on the top floor, the heat was sooooo bad that our guests were sweating. It was terrible. When I asked if they could turn the heat down they said they could not set it differently and that the heating system is old so it blows all the hot air up stairs. I would LOOOOOOOVE to have my son s bday party there again, but I m not paying $500 for my guests to be uncomfortable. I wish this would have been disclosed to me before I spent all that money.

Perfect for 5 to 10 year olds. We've been to a ton of children's museums, and this one was in the best condition, which is amazing especially considering it's been open for more than ten years!
