The folks at AMA are incredibly caring work exceptionally hard to find great forever homes for the animals that they rescue. We were fortunate enough to adopt from AMA and the process was thorough always keeps the animal's best interest at the priority

AMA is amazing! They really care about the animals they rescue and make sure they are going to the best homes. We adopted Mickie (now Leo). AMA was super helpful with answering questions and gave us a lot of support adjusting to getting a rescue dog. The adoption process was easy. We love Leo and he fits perfectly into our family. Highly recommend adopting from AMA.

I recently adopted a dog from AMA Animal Rescue and would like to share my experience here. I have been wanting to adopt a senior dog for years and now that I have a stable job, I thought to start looking for one in the New York City region. I knew I wanted to work with a non-profit rather than go to the pound since I wanted to make sure that the dog and I are a good fit something that is not always obvious once you first meet a dog.

The adoption process itself took several months from initial contact to final adoption, but I think this is (or should be) standard practice in the industry. AMA Animal rescue was actually the only organization that I contacted out of several in NYC which replied promptly to my emails and texts and made sure that we keep in touch throughout the whole process. They require an initial screening interview, a home visit, a follow-up interview, a meet-up with the potential dog adoptee, and a foster-to-adopt agreement. This is intended so that both you and the dog are the right fit for each other and to screen out potentially dangerous situations for the dog. They will also take back the dog if it is not a good fit and will work with you if you have any difficulties during the adjustment process. I think this is a great service since there is a built-in safety net for all adopted animals.

Please note that this organization in particular works with dogs that frequently come from hoarding and abusive situations or dogs that have been put on the at-risk list at the NYACC. This means that a lot of the dogs might need more care and patience since they have had a hard life so far. The dog that I adopted has a history of biting, so my boyfriend and I have been very careful and got our dog additional professional training once we adopted him.

I highly recommend working with this organization especially if you would like to adopt a senior or previously neglected dog. They take care of all medical expenses before you adopt the dog and conduct extensive behavioral and medical tests, so you know exactly what you are getting into.

I had the pleasure of fostering two animals from AMA. Their dedication and care for the furry friends in their charge is second to none. They truly provide unfortunate and abandoned animals the love and resources need. I have nothing but praise for this organization.

I cannot say enough good things about this rescue agency. After suddenly losing my dog Zoey, I felt empty and depressed and needed a new companion. My friend tagged me in one of their instagram posts and when I opened it I saw the most beautiful kind eyes staring back at me. I fell hard and fast. I reached out to them about the little chihuahua Shakes and within a week I received a phone call from an adoption coordinator named Michelle. We spoke for over 30 minutes and she was wonderful, understanding and helpful. She explained the process throughly and answered any questions we had. The whole process took a few weeks (we were traveling for a week before picking him up). The entire time we were in constant communication with Michelle and had a meet and greet with shakes and his foster parents. The agency was very professional and thorough, checking with our vet and conducting a home visit. Shakes had a accident when we were away (while being fostered) and Michelle called me right after we returned to tell us what happened and let us know what was going on. She was very honest and upfront during the entire process. We got all of the medical records in the official adoption as well as goodies and information about care for the pet. The fee was incredibly reasonable seeing as some agencies charge upwards of 500 dollars, this did not even charge half of that. You can tell they are very skilled at matching animals and potential owners. They also take care of all animals medical needs prior to adoption at no cost to potential adopters. I would recommend this agency over and over again. We got the most amazing family member and could not ask for anything more.

I volunteered for AMA at their location during the pandemic - friendly and fun environment where you get to spend plenty of time with the animals and make sure their comfortable. Recommended if you re looking to help out and make a difference!

My husband, daughter and I had been thinking about growing our family after a recent tragedy. While casually searching Petfinder we came across a poodle, Soni, that immediately captured our hearts. We reached out to AMA Animal Rescue that night to see if we could make her our own. Within one week we were able to meet her and introduce her to our own Otis, and the following week we took her home to foster her while she continued to heal from the neglect of her previous life conditions. All the while we fostered Soni, AMA, was so helpful and caring, and truly took the time to make sure Soni was being placed in a home that was perfect for her. Our family is complete and we owe a heartfelt thank you to AMA.

One of my friends volunteers at this organization and I m always touched by what they do. They are so caring to the animals and there should be more people like them in this world!

AMA really cares about what they do. I personally know when they saved animals that had no chance without help. Whenever a have a question I call them. I recently found a baby racoon and they gave me people who helped. They are the best.

Although you can only see dogs by appointment, someone came outside briefly to answer a few questions we had. They were very nice and helpful.

Such an amazing team, each one of them is so invested in the well-being of the dogs and cats. The shelter is super clean and professional! Even though most of the animals AMA takes in are in very bad conditions, AMA is doing their best to provide a loving, calm and safe environment for the animals. A great place to support!!

AMA Animal Rescue helped a Ky pug find his forever home in New York! Bluegrass Pug Rescue (Kentucky) had a potential adopter in Brooklyn. We contacted AMA to ask for help with conducting a home visit. In less than 24 hours they had a volunteer ready to jump into action. The home visit was conducted this past weekend. By this coming weekend, Chico will be in his forever home! It's all about working together and finding the best homes possible for these babies. AMA Animal Rescue made this possible for Chico. If you re looking for a furry friend to add to your family, AMA is the perfect place to adopt from! AMA truly goes above and beyond to help animals in need. They take in the most severe cases and provide them with a second chance when no one else will. All of the staff and volunteers are so kind and passionate about animals. They make the adoption process such a wonderful experience.

I recently fostered 3 little kitties with AMA. Each person that is part of the rescue works around the clock to ensure the babies in their care are taken care of, whether it be for a simple question you may have, or an emergency. They are easy going and a pleasure to interact with! The fact that they take in severe cases and try their best to turn their life around for the better is one of the many great things that this rescue does!

AMA is a wonderful organization that helps animals in dire need! They are a no kill shelter and work very hard to take in and help as many animals as they can. The staff and foster parents are all lovely people and they really do care about the work. I m very excited to join their volunteer team and to spend time with animals that need lots of love. I just brought home my cat from AMA, and I found the process to be thorough, exacting and precise, with several levels of vetting, which I appreciated because they are all safeguards to ensure the animal's safety. The amount of care and concern they display for the animals they rescue (neglected and abuse cases that would almost always be put down elsewhere) is very encouraging, so if you're considering adopting, I'd really recommend AMA, as you'd also be giving a traumatized animal a new life.

Extremely friendly and helpful staff/volunteers who clearly just want to help and re-home as many animals as possible. They will do anything to help you find a foster or adoptee that suits your home and lifestyle best and, they really care about each and every animal that comes through their rescue. My foster dog Charlie is such a great addition to my home so I'm very thankful to AMA!

Adoption fees are super high but they took care of my little Pollo!

The folks at AMA give their all to each and every animal in their care. That means every penny of the money they raise and their love and patience. We have been fostering with them for nearly a year. In that just year, their advocacy and diligence has saved the lives of many animals and improved the lives of many more.

AMA Rescue is the most amazing and genuine rescue organization I have come by so far. The people working here are angels and devote their time and effort to all the helpless animals. I picked up a dying feral cat on the street and called Maria for help. She took the cat immediately to the emergency room and AMA covered the huge vet bill in full. These people are animal angels. They don t give up even in the most hopeless cases. They nursed the dying cat back to a healthy life and he is now in a foster home looking for adoption. There are not enough words on earth to describe my love and gratitude towards them and all the help they have provided. I would give them 10 stars out of 5 because I have never come across people so willing, devoted, and loyal to saving voiceless lives. Thank you for your amazing work!!!!!

I had such a great experience volunteering with AMA. They are super responsible for what they are doing and it feels like they care about it. Every animal gets special attention and love. Looking forward for more days volunteering with AMA.

I encountered AMA through a friend that had just fostered a kitten from one of AMA's foster homes. I had posted on facebook that I was looking into adopting a kitten. At the time, we had been looking at adoption through an adoption shelter set up. During a pandemic, this was hard to do because none of the shelters were excepting visitors. Luckily, my friend referred me to Amy with AMA and she had 3 beautiful baby kittens that were ready to find good homes. The process of bringing our Kitty into our home was simple and quick. After meeting the kittens, we were able to bring home our rescue kitten within a week after passing background checks.

After bringing her home, we had a couple of sponsored vet visits that were covered by AMA and the Spaying appointment after that. Once she was spayed, we paid the final adoption fees to AMA and they handled all of the transfer of ownership/microchip information over to us! They keep in touch to check on Kitty's well being and she is doing so well! We love our baby and are grateful to AMA for helping us find her! <3

My husband and I are so grateful that we came in contact with AMA. All of the members are so passionate and dedicated to saving animals lives and finding fur babies forever homes. They truly believe everyone deserves a chance and I ve never heard a bad story about any of their rescues! They were truly amazing to work with. Once in the care of AMA, these animals show a side of them that no one believed they would. We adopted our dog Gordon 1 year ago, who was in a horrible situation before he was in our care and we cannot remember a time when he wasn t ours! We originally planned on fostering only but from the day we took him home we knew he would be ours forever! The amount of joy and love he brings to our lives is indescribable. I will forever be thankful to AMA for bringing Gordon into our lives and I highly suggest you adopt don t shop! I highly recommend AMA!!!! :)

Started volunteering here today and had an amazing first day. Anna was very informative and kind and the other volunteers were very sweet and helpful with showing me around. The best part is playing with the cats/kittens and dogs. Morning well spent!

Such a wonderful organization. I ve been attending their yearly charity event for the past four years. They do so much to help animals and the staff are all so kind and knowledgeable.

The world and the people and animals of New York are so fortunate to have these fine young ladies doing their great work. They are diligent, and thorough and are a great source for knowledge for all aspects of pet rescue. Donations are the lifeblood of their efforts so give generously!

Some time ago, I said to the Universe: "If a dog in need comes along, my door and heart are open". The Universe decided that Lucy was that dog. She needed an emergency foster after being rescued off someone giving her away on Craigslist. Her immediate foster family had her for 3 days and needed to go away for a week, so AMA Animal Rescue called me. Lucy came to us in two days and never left.

Long story short, here we are. Lucy is smaller and fluffier than the dog I envisioned, but she settled into our lives quite quickly and comfortably. I'd like to thank AMA Animal Rescue for being completely transparent and diligent specifically with regard to her health check-up. They wanted me as a potential adopter to know any health issues and be ready to commit to that. Earlier in the summer we learned that Lucy is closer to 6 or 7 years old, older than originally thought, and has early stage heart valve disease. That condition just needs observation right now. This required a visit to VERG and doing an echo.

The team at AMA Animal Rescue is truly incredible. It was clear in every interaction with Mariya, Tanoopa, and Anna that they care deeply for all of their rescue animals. In my experience with the adoption process, they go above and beyond to ensure each receives great care and tons of love during their stay at AMA and that they ultimately are placed with a forever home that meets these same high standards. My boy was in rough shape when AMA first took him in and I am grateful beyond words for the compassion and generosity that AMA showered him with during his time there. I ve been following this organization for years from another country and has been donating to their most severe cases (which is almost all of them). It makes me happy that every dollar raised goes to these poor animals and I m able to help them make a difference even if I m so far away.

I ve been supporting this rescue organization for years, donating and coming to their events (which is always fun and exciting). They have been helping local communities and saved hundreds of homeless of animals over the years. I wish there were more organizations like them!

I really don't know where to begin. Our chihuahua went missing on Sunday 5/20/18. Someone from our neighborhood contacted AMA and she was picked up in Astoria, Queens that same night. AMA took her to Noah's Ark Vet in Brooklyn (where they took such great care of her) and we are forever grateful!!! They had the vet scan her microchip and contacted us immediately. From what we know, she was running around in the street but they were able to get her safely. AMA thank you so much for everything you did for our baby!!!!

All I can say about AMA rescue is that they are very dedicated and passionate about what they do. They rescue no matter what condition the animals are in while working with the best most skilled veterinarians and finally finding them a new and safe place to rest their head.

For months I was looking for a rescue Organisation to foster with and it was incredible hard to get through the whole application process - AMA on the other side made it so easy to get involved!!! I foster with them now for over a year and everything went super smooth. Michele and Mariya are always available for me whenever I have questions or concerns and supporting me 100%. They really care for the animals they rescue and put a lot of thoughts on them.

Let me start off by saying AMA animal rescue is the true meaning of people who have devoted there lives to help animals. From where they started to where they are at now is just the start for this Organization. Each day animals lives are saved & others recovering for Anna and her team to find loving homes for them. Seriously some of the most hardworking animal lover organizations in all of New York City. The never shy away from even the toughest and dire animal situations and rescue missions. AMA has been able to provide miraculous transformations for so many pups and cats! They are so worth supporting!

My experience volunteering today. The staff was very thorough in cleaning procedures, safety, and engaging with the animals. Being around animals is very therapeutic for me so I felt so good the whole time. The facility is spotless, organized, and you can just tell that the dogs are well cared for and the staff really cares for them. 100% recommend adopting from AMA and also volunteering here!

I had stumbled upon three rescue kittens in my backyard. I was referred to AMA by a friend of mine. The girls were so amazing, professional and responsible. Amy came right away to come rescue the kittens. She was so amazing and they are now in the best of care. She is keeping me up to date as I see them so happy now. I would highly recommend AMA as these kittens now have a new beautiful life ahead of them. Such a compassionate rescue in which we needed around here. Thank you again!

This rescue/clinic for lost or abused animals is not just a hobby for these women.. it is a calling that they have truly answered and dedicated themselves to. And the officers In charge of this rescue/clinic are top notch

I cannot speak more highly about AMA Animal Rescue and the amazing volunteer staff that bring so much happiness and joy to both human and animals alike. They work so hard to fight for and save our furry friends, and have an exceptional eye for finding and vetting adoptable pets and matching them with the perfect foster and forever families. Michele was so easy to work and went above and beyond to make sure that everything was going well with us and our new dog, Lucky, and communication was fluid and easy. When I found an abandoned dog tied to a fence late at night, they jumped through hoops to make sure the sweet dog was picked up from me the next morning, received important vet care, and was quickly set up with a long term foster so the pup had a warm home. Thank you, AMA, for everything you do!!!

AMA is an amazing rescue. They are extremely thorough throughout the foster/adoption process. The founders and volunteers truly care for the animals that they help.

AMA is truly an organization of angels. My husband and I have followed their tireless efforts for years and finally found ourselves in a position to help by fostering and then adopting. AMA takes on the worst cases of abuse and neglect and animals that honestly have no other chance and they do it all with love. The organization's co-founders, Anna and Mariya, as well as their devoted volunteers, literally spend every minute of their lives when they aren't working full-time jobs, helping these animals. They are all incredible and their efforts are evident by looking at the animals they've rescued.
My husband and I started by fostering Pinky, an orange cat about 6 years old who had been neglected and abandoned and was in pretty bad physical and emotional shape. We already had 2 cats (our boys) and we're initially worried that it would be too much for all involved. Well, over the next few months, thanks to AMA's amazing medical care as well as good old fashioned TLC, Pinky blossomed. We are beyond thrilled to say that Pinky is now officially one of "our boys."
AMA goes out of their way to ensure that these animals are being placed in good foster and adoption homes. While the foster/adoption process is thorough and exhaustive, it's also extremely accommodating and super professional. AMA is great about communicating with you anytime of the day or night about any concerns or questions you may have about anything. Whether this is your first time ever caring for an animal or you're a seasoned pro, AMA is fantastic at assessing the level of support you'll need and providing it. I encourage anyone thinking about fostering/adopting to reach out and start a conversation with AMA. I should also mention that because fostering and ultimately adopting Pinky was such a gratifying experience, we're currently fostering a 4 month old kitten, Smokey, who AMA rescued from an abusive situation and with a broken hind leg. Just like our experience with Pinky, fostering Smokey has been so rewarding and one of our best decisions.

This is a great rescue group. The helped me get medical treatment for a ginger street cat. They also covered all of the charges. Please look into them if you catch a poor street or stray cat. They can help you.

AMA animal rescue is the best rescue around. I am beyond grateful to them for saving my dog Roxy (formaly Princess) and so many other innocent animals. They do whatever it takes to take care of their rescues no matter what and are very very compassionate. I've stayed in touch and made friends with some of the team because they still love to check in on their rescues from time to time. That just shows how truly caring they are towards all of their animals. I can say I am a proud adopter from AMA and would adopt from them again in a heartbeat!

I have been following AMA after my friend told me to. I m looking to adopt a cat and by far they are the best shelter that cares for their animals. I really look forward to working with AMA in the future not only as an adopter but as a volunteer as well.

We first learned about AMA when a friend adopted a dog that AMA rescued from a hoarding situation. AMA does an amazing job at rescuing animals in very dire and desperate situations and doing everything in their power to ensure that the animals are given the best chance at a new life.

We decided to look into our own options to adopt as we moved into an apartment that only allowed cats and researched into AMA s options and their process. We found comfort in knowing that AMA has a thorough application process to ensure that both the animal and new adopters are best fit for each other s circumstances and environments. We heard back after submitting our application and AMA worked with us to get some appointments set-up to meet with some cats that were available for adoption. We ended up adopting the most wonderful pair of bonded sibling kittens and they ve brought so much joy into our lives. Everyone was extremely helpful and made the process so seamless and we are so thankful for all the work AMA does.

I rescued my beloved Frisco (Tetris) from AMA.They are true advocate for animals.Working tirelessly for animals and their well being. We lost our beautiful Frisco this past July but I wouldn't hesitate to adoptagain from them
