Most of the staff were nice and friendly. The room was good. This is despite our calling the resort 6 months in advance and when we got there, us not getting the room we requested. The tram was nice and the little museum/shop at the top was good too. The food at the Sakura Asian Bistro was absolutely "terrible". It tasted like they kept it in the refrigerator for 6 months and the microwaved it for us. We ate about only 95% of it.

A two night stay on our Holland America land cruise. No A/C so our room was 77 degrees and stuffy the whole time in the heat of the summer. We liked the pub and food there. Nice hike trail by the tram base through the wilderness. You can take a town shuttle bus (free) to get around a limited town. We felt pretty restricted to the hotel and it's facilities.

WEDDING PLANNERS ALERT! - Hotel sales staff will ask the wedding hosts to sign a contract to guarantee rooms for the wedding party. I DON'T RECOMMEND THAT YOU SIGN. Once you've signed the contract, that's it. The problem is that smart travelers easily figure out that's it's MUCH cheaper and very easy to rent a cabin or a condo in Girdwood. So - the block doesn't get filled and you have to pay!

Even worse - when a member of our wedding party called to book in the guaranteed block, someone in reservations told them the block was full (while it was only 45% full) so that isn't credited against my guarantee!!! The discount and incentives they offer for guaranteeing a room block is not worth the risk of having to pay for empty rooms.

POST SCRIPT - I have to give them credit - once I notified the hotel of the problem they fixed it immediately. I have upgraded the star rating.

I only go here to snowboard. I've never stayed at the resort myself. My experience has always been wonderful. This is where I learned how to snowboard with a wonderful instructor who definitely steered me through my training which prepared me to metaphorically "ride the bike without training wheels." I highly recommend getting a lesson if you are inexperienced.

Very nice and clean hotel. Skiing was great but the hill is not for beginners. Chairlifts are outdated without foot rests or enclosures.
The scenery is 2nd only to the Matterhorn. The Turnagain Arm ice flow was one of the most amazing things I have ever seen!
Will be back in summer time!

A nice resort a short drive from Anchorage. This is a beautiful place, there's a nice 3 mile nature hike with a hand pulled tram over a large stream. It has a restaurant on the top of a mountain, do ask for the extended wine list. Yes, you'll see bear and moose in the area, so don't wear your lucky ham shirt.

The staff were very friendly and helpful.

The staff were very friendly and helpful.
The room I was in was nice, with a mountain view. All rooms are on the third floor or higher, and there are mountains all around so you're pretty much guaranteed a nice view no matter which room you get.

A couple gift stores in the hotel with a nice selection of items, and at the time of posting there is a Starbucks in the hotel, by the trail area.
The whole hotel seemed quite clean(including the bathrooms, public and the in room bathrooms). The indoor heated pool, hot tub and sauna add a little something to do if you're not an oudoorsie type, or if you just get tired out from your outdoor activities and want to rest for a while.
Overall, I loved the hotel and most certainly plan to return.

My wife and I stayed here for a night in Sept and I must say I was rather disappointed. Having visited the resort several times for skiing, I was super excited to stay overnight but the experience left a lot to be desired. We were promised a room upgrade based on an online promotion, but did not get one. Had to wait over an hour to get our room and only got it once we called for the third time. The room itself was also super outdated. Have to still give a few stars here since the views and vibe of the resort are amazing. Maybe some day I'll come back and change my mind, but for now I can't recommend staying here over some of the amazing airbnb options in town.

Hotel staff was friendly, hotel and room was clean, swimming pool was closed due to COVID-19. The premises are large enough to social distance. We had the fire pit to our selves the nights we stayed, which was nice! The drinks and food in Sakura was savory and fresh. Can't wait to return after the Nordic spa is completed.

We chose Alyeska resort as a place for our wedding ceremony and reception, in January of 2012. Everything was perfect. Beautiful location, delicious food, beautiful (and tasty, multy flavor!) cake, and exceptional service. We also stayed the night there and so did some of our guests and we received discounted, group rates for our guests and upgraded suit with gorgeous mountain views for us. It was my dream wedding and I wouldn't change a thing. I'm glad we chose Alyeska Resort for this very special occasion!

Rooms were smaller than expected. Room service lost our food order and didn't apologize until we went to front desk to complain. Took 2 hours for order. Won't come back again for sure. Very disappointing in service levels.

This was a big disappointment. Booked a month in advance and added an extra bed. Was told when reserving it wouldn't be a problem and bed would be there when we got there. Arrived at 8 pm after driving from Denali and upon asking was told by front desk bed was in room and ready. Of course when we got to the room, no extra bed. Called downstairs and after two.more calls told due to "technical difficulties" bed could not be given that night. The three of us had to squish onto two beds and get a poor night's sleep. Later told wasn't available. Obviously just forgot. Poor service, had to go back noon the next day and ask again to get the bed as no effort made. Poor service, poor uncaring communication. Management basically don't care about it's guests as they know they're the only such resort around. Stay elsewhere.

A place of delight. We came there after a full day flight from Tallahassee, Fl. Room was restful, clean. The fitness center with it's hot tub and pool helped us to feel much less tired and schedule. Fitness room staff was kind, gentle, helpful to us.

I had my wedding at Alyeska. The location is beautiful, the food was fantastic and the general service was great. Unfortunately this was all overshadowed by the horrible communication and individualized service of the wedding manager. Dealing with her was the worst part of my whole wedding. There was a serious lack of information regarding charges and extra costs. Appointments were made, work taken off, only to be told we needed to reschedule. Then after a lot of back and forth, we were rescheduled back to the same day we were cancelled on. Very unorganized. Be sure to double check your contract, surprise charges were everywhere.

Wonderful steaks at the Seven Glaciers restaurant accessed by a steep cable car ride up from the ALYESKA Hotel in Girdwood, AK. No mountain view from the restaurant due to the wildfires in the area, but when the sky's clear, the views are breathtaking.

Stayed a couple nights, room was way too hot, even after turning thermostat down as much as possible and a visit from engineering. Had to prop open the window with a water bottle to make it bearable. Very friendly staff everywhere we visited in the resort.

Great place for a winter get-away. Easy drive from Anchorage. Beautiful hotel, clean, great views from the summit rooms. Loved the gym, pool & walking path. Took the tram to the top of the mountain and the view was breathtaking!

Food and service was good - I was there for training. Staff were nice. Pool and hot tub very nice. Only complaint is that the bed was too soft. I slept poorly and hurt when I woke up. Everything else was great.

The hotel is nice but we had bad experience because of power outage. They didn't even inform us about it and we were in the dark for whole night. In the morning we found out that only few rooms had no power. They tried to compensate by giving us free lunch at one of their hotels, the only positive part of our stay.

Services and facilities are strongly not recommended. Terrible Service I've ever had.
1. The front desk said that there was no information about my booking and there was an Expedia itinerary number. The manager informed him that he would handle it.
The next day, I went to the front desk again to make sure that I would not be charged twice by Alyeska Hotel and Expedia. The staff promised to only ask Expedia for payment.
2. After receiving the credit card bill, Hotel and Expedia charge the room rate twice.
3. Call Expedia to communicate, but Alyeska Hotel has no intention of refunding. As a result, Expedia will refund the room rate.

Super disappointed. This is the top floor summit view room that we paid extra for?? They should be ashamed for describing this room as they do and charging what they did. Look at the pictures of this room class. You won t see this. Update: They did change rooms for us to the other side. Still a smallish window but a bigger room and better view.

Our stay was almost perfect....The location of this resort is amazing set up right against the mountains way back in a remote little area. The hotel itself is beautiful and the amenities they have are great. We ordered room service and ate at the restaurant and our food was great. The room was small but cozy and comfortable. I would have given 5 stars but the room temperature was a major issue. It was 72* in our room and not much we could do about it. Called to say we were hot and there s no a/c and. she suggested turning on the room fan and opening the window. Well... the windows are all locked so that you can only open about 2 inches. We set the fan up by the two inch window opening which did not do much. They obviously know this is an issue because there s small fans in each room. FIX this problem! Besides isn t it a fire hazard when windows don t open so you can get out!?!?! I would hate to come in the summer! Would come back but definitely only in the winter!

Alyeska leaves much to be desired from an indoors ...

Alyeska leaves much to be desired from an indoors perspective. It is talked about by locals (and tourists) as a nice destination. For the nature, and outdoorsy-ness of it all - it s great, however the room and such you get is very lackluster, and not worth the money (even as a local getting a discount). It had the most uncomfortable bed and pillows I have ever used. The shower was utterly pathetic. Not much water pressure, it was very small (I m a 6 2 guy and my head was nearly touching the ceiling), and it takes FOREVER to drain. At the end of a 10 minute shower, I was standing ankle deep in water. And 10 minutes later it was still draining. Room service also was very lackluster for the price. A salad, dish of pasta, and piece of chicken costs $78. Not to mention the chicken gave me food sickness. Overall I m not impressed, and will not return.
