Fun place to stay and explore Alaska at! Several different dining options within the resort that are all good! However, my experience at the spa wasn't that pleasant - the girl running the desk had an attitude and told me a massage was $114. I was then charged extra and she extorted a hefty tip from me. The resort and the events there are otherwise wonderful!

Normally we go out of our way to stay at the Alyeska Hotel, however, our last stay was not pleasant. Housekeeping changed my husband s pillowcase on his own $100 cooling pillow, found that odd, but when he ran out of the room to bring my girls to the Day Lodge for a ski race he scanned the room and obviously the pillow blended in. He called the hotel ASAP to have them check/hold it and they couldn t at that time. I called the manager on duty who seemed pleasant and offered to find the pillow and also email us a deal for the next time we stayed. No contact in any way after that. Between my husband and me we have called four times and left messages with ZERO response from management. The front desk says no manager is available, can t help me in any way, takes a message. Again, zero response. Other issues include: Bed had no linens (which housekeeping argued, the bed should be made?) no fan in room, no slippers with the robes, and basic amenities...almost as if they started cleaning the room but forgot half way. Beyond disappointed... we stay here frequently, even got married here. Not sure if it s because they re under new ownership or what.

We came here for a marriage retreat, and the rooms were OKAY. Like others have stated, they're pretty outdated... they didnt even have microwaves in the room so I couldn't even heat up one of my sons Gerber meals. Also, they didn't even have toothbrushes in the rooms. We had a joint room and NEITHER room had one, so I had to call them twice to bring them up. Thank goodness the rooms were covered through the retreat, because seeing others reviews, I'd be upset to pay for subpar service and rooms.

Good value when you book a package. Ours included two $46 meal credits and two tram rides for a weekend stay. Food was good. Clean facility, pleasant staff. They need to pave or resurface and stripe their parking lot...chaos. Piped in dining music is quite dated. Nice hiking trails. Be sure you hike to the gorge.

Mostly-cozy with nice interiors and furnishings; rooms have nice amenities and views. Nice lounge areas. Lots of children running around in the halls from 7am-11pm and noise was an issue. The pool was very busy all day and had a very strong chlorine smell. Note: they add a $10 resort fee every day that isn't specified at registration, but offer free valet parking.

The resort and hotel facilities are excellent. The setting is beautiful and the outdoor opportunities (summer time) are varied. All in all, an enjoyable afternoon and morning capped by an excellent dinner in the Sever Glaciers Restaurant.

Was there this past week for a wedding, I was one of the bridesmaids and the location was absolutely stunning! My cousin had planned for her wedding to be in April 2020, but the worldwide pandemic set in so it was postponed to last week. I am glad it got a little smaller (from 300 guests to only 50!) and the landscape of Alyeska Resort and Hotel couldn't have been more perfect. From the ceremony to the reception, it was flawless! I love how there are so many food options there as well, as we stayed for more than the day/ night of the wedding and that there was a store there that sold just the perfect liquid courage we needed, including the bride herself. I excluded one star in this review as the decor i.e. carpet, wall decor, etc were all a little outdated. But I get the place was just trying to keep the vibe very Alaskan. All in all, great place! Would go there again to just chill and hopefully when the snow arrives, go skiing!

I unfortunately can not included every detail of my experience, but what I can say up front is that the folks at this place are absolutely incredible and, judging from my experience as someone who didn't even stay there, I'm sure their customer service is beyond compare.

After 10 days of ski mountaineering at Thompson and Hatcher Pass, my companions and I proceeded to Girdwood for a day of skiing and debauchery during the annual Slush Cup at Alyeska. One thing led to another, by 1:30am the lot of us were less capable than usual at figuring out how to get back. As folks from the Rockies who were quite unfamiliar with the bus system in Girdwood, we accidentally boarded the incorrect last bus.

I asked the bus driver if we were headed to a particular stop, to which he responded no, stopped the bus, and angrily told me to get off. Confused about where I was, I remained on the bus. The bus took us to Alyeska Resort where we proceeded to sit in the lobby as we figured out how to get home.

The manager of the hotel (I never got his name but he resembles Jared Leto) approached us and tactfully explained to us that we could not stay. After explaining to him our situation, he asked the security guard to retrieve a vehicle to take us back across town to where we were staying.

I regard this as an incredible service to the community as well as a demonstration of unwavering commitment to the integrity of the hotel. 5-starts to Alyeska Hotel as a non-guest. If I am ever a wealthy man I will certainly stay here!

The hotel itself is good though it looks old. However the front desk lady's attitude was bad. Yet the building maintenance staff was polite and did try their best to fix the heater problem of my room.

The Vail of Alaska. Didn't get the chance to ski here as we visited during the summer but the main lodge is a thing of beauty that reeks of elegance. Really cool artwork and comfortable leather chairs. Careful not to get lost because it's quite expansive.

Wonderful place to vacation. All staff were very pleasant and attentive to guests needs. Very accommodating in all aspects. All restaurants offerings were very appealing and flavorful. The surrounding community is very friendly and peaceful. I am definitely going to return during the different. seasons.

We arrived early to make sure we could use the lift tickets that were part of our "stay and ski package" and had no expectation our room would be ready. They let us check in anyway and gave us our lift tickets and said to check back in a couple hours for the room. After a couple hours we went to check on the room and the front desk seemed offended that we would ask. Eventually they gave us our room but seemed to do it begrudgingly.

The room itself was very nice but we had to go back and ask for the crib we requested. Which again they seemed upset that we asked for it even though it was part of our original booking to have a crib in the room.

The stay was going really well until about 8 when we were at the pool. At 830 they shut down the pool for "routine but unplanned maintenance" which seems odd and really upset the kids but it is what it is. So we called it a night. After laying down the whole hotel seemed to come to life with yelling in rooms next to us and above us, followed by an all nighter of slamming doors from the neighbors. I reported all of this at check out and the front desk said that "You should have reported it last night if you wanted us to do something." Which, while partially true is not very customer service oriented. They did not offer any apology at all or any sort of remuneration for the unenjoyable experience.

In the end, we will stay there again but not because of the quality of stay. There are almost no other options nearby (no other hotels in Girdwood) so they know they can be rude and poorly service their customers with little damage to their profits.

Disappointing. The Ponds is closed during the week which means your only options are room service or a pastry and coffee for breakfast. Only one robe in the room and no slippers for the trek to the pool area. The bathroom was in need of cleaning. Not to mention the pretty aggressive greeting from the valet staff, irritating. Unable to adjust the thermostat in the room set at 65 but even with windows open stayed at 71.
For a ski resort it is downhill from previous visits

The blueberry festival is an annual tradition of many Alaskans, and something that you want to see. The atmosphere, local flavor, all mixed with a young and fit crowd, make the Alyeska Blueberry Festival one of the must-do events in Southcentral Alaska.

The skiing was good, but the room was sub par, the "hot" water for the shower was barely warm enough to not make you shiver, and I got food poisoning from the 7 glaciers restaurant. At least I got. To taste my $60 steak twice?

Blueberry Festival 2019 was disappointing. The blueberry pie marketed by the hotel had 90% blue JELLY instead of just blueberries. Two scones I purchased had 1 blueberry, yes one blueberry inside. Way to go. Beautiful area but definitely no blueberries. We hiked up the hill to pick out wild blueberries on our own. Far better experience.

Well....not sure the shower mat should have been this worn out for the price of their nightly rate. The tub/ shower did not drain properly and the hand shower leaked. 7 Glacier restaurant was over the top in food, service and vista.

Nice place. Has access to a lot of trails with wonderful scenery. If you go in the fall, you can pick blueberries off the side of the trails (everywhere). As a hotel goes, it has everything you might need.

I'm sure that in its day this place used to be what would be considered a five-star hotel. However it is quite dated. They do have some nice areas.it's just not what I would consider a five-star. The service is good.

Location: Firewood AK is pretty empty but an hour drive from Anchorage. The view of the mountain and surrounding areas are beautiful.

Service: I had an issue with the mini-fridge. Maintenance was up in less than an hour. Also the staff are curious and helpful.

Absolutely horrific organization. What used to be ...

Absolutely horrific organization. What used to be an upscale destination of relaxation is now a desperate and mismanaged circus.
I came to Alaska with the intention visiting Alyeska for a one night ski and stay package. I ended up very sick and found out I have pneumonia. At 24 hours notice before our stay, I called to request a cancellation and refund of our stay due to illness. I spent an hour on the phone and talked to multiple people, in particular Michael Gray who states he is the Director of Revenue Management.
We spoke at length and I shared with him what was going on. He instructed that since they are a destination hotel, they cannot easily rebook the stay (which might be a lot easier should they decide to treat their prospective guests with a bit more respect). He then stated that if I was to provide medical documentation that I am unable to travel outside Anchorage due to my health that we would be fully refunded the reservation costs.
I have since been to my (former) primary care doctor, and she has written up fully that I am unable to travel outside of Anchorage due to having pneumonia. I sent the letter over per their request (as did the medical provider).
Michael Gray as a representative of Alyeska Hotel now states that because the Note didn t come from a hospital they will not honor their word. The note is on letterhead from my primary medical doctor who treats my immune compromised status post cancer- and they are refusing to refund our money b/c the letter didn t come from a hospital.

We have now begun working with our credit card company s dispute legal team (plus our personal family attorney) as we have recorded documentation of their request for the medical
Note AND we have the actual medical note in hand, along with the support and assistance of my doctor.

A company THIS desperate to bully and harass and be so inflexible and outright LIARS over $412.00 is a company that should be avoided at all costs.

I m sad what was once a respected and desireable Resort destination in Alaska is now such a gross and sad representation of a dying model of doing business : lie, cheat and steal to get ahead.

Great resort! The suites are great for 3+ adults. Feels like a cabin when you first walk in. Great views and almost always see wildlife while I'm there. Beautiful place for a wedding or a relaxing weekend on the slopes.

I was told by the biking staff that you could ride any tram or ski lift down by hike 2.2 miles to the top in less than an hour far short of what the Viking staff said I could do and then after coming down from the mountain found that you could not take the ski lifts down possibly the tran so, when the alley ask us staff tells you something either get it in writing or remember that they may or may not have done anything that you have done and might not be knowledgeable in anything other than renting bikes and helmets.

I paid nearly $450 a night for this place and frankly I ve found Best Western accommodations better. Don t waste your money here. I traveled with my three kids and expected two queen beds only to find two full size beds. Apparently they don t have queen beds at all and we found both the room and the beds cramped. Food options for families weren t great at the resort. Check out was 11 am and I asked for an extra hour to check out and was denied. I would expect WAY more for the amount I paid. Again, don t waste your money here.

WONDERFUL! Kameron, at the front desk, was especially nice, caring, and went above and beyond, making sure everything was taken care of and even sending a maintenance worker to my room to close the vent within minutes of me calling the front desk to say I was cold and changing the temperature hadn t worked. The room heated up quickly and everything was great!

The rooms were clean, spacious, and comfortable with a BEAUTIFUL VIEW of the mountains!

The hotel had a wonderfully unique appearance and it was fun to walk around looking at the statues and other stuff.

There were several great restaurants with delicious food. The other guests staying there were friendly and it was easy to make new friends throughout the hotel and especially at the bars. The restaurant bars had a great mix of other travelers and locals from the town nearby to talk with in addition to great service and excellent food!

Great location!! It was a beautiful drive along the mountains and coast to get there from Anchorage (about 45 minutes away). Many parks and pullouts along the way to stop and take pictures or view whales, dolphins, and other sea life with interesting signs at each stop giving facts about the area. And many of the tours, especially the glacier tours are located closer to Girdwood than Anchorage.

I had an amazing time and hope to be back soon!

I had been to Alyeska once before this recent visit. The hotel itself is a lovely place but the front desk staff are not very helpful due to a rude gentleman. I don't remember his name but when I checked it, everything seemed to be going great until I tried getting into my room and the door was locked as if someone was in there. I then proceed to tell the front desk and the same gentleman said that there would be someone upstairs to help open the door. I go upstairs, door is unlocked and next thing you know, the room was not clean! The bed sheets were undone from the previous person. I then call front desk upset. The same front desk guy comes upstairs and still has the audacity to ask what the issue was! I was so irritated and told him that the room was undone, as he could see! He then annoyingly, says that he'll change us to a different room. I don't understand why he acted like he did, when I PAID for a CLEAN ROOM.

Took a day trip there with my husband snd 2 grandsons. Took the tram ride to the ski area to see the view. That day there were sime hand glidders there jumping off the mountain and landing below at the hotel. We really enjoyed watching them. Great view from the top. Would love to see in the winter but doubt that will happen as we are from Florida. We sure miss visiting Alaska.
