We went at the most quiet time possible. Got to talk to staff and explore. Service was great, had some interesting situations arise on our stay, but they were handled terrifically.
My biggest gripe is how billing is handled. They say to put it on your room, but then getting an itemized invoice from that is not possible. Keep your receipts.
Great time, old building, hope the new owners breathe some life and bring the building to the present

This is a beautiful getaway! The room was comfortable. We took the Alyeska tram which should be on every visitor's "to-do list." The only thing that was disappointing was the breakfast buffet. Spent $20 per person for cold, bland food.

Awesome ski resort. Awesome views better than expected. Decent price to stay. Just make sure to bring your own sunglasses (which start at $50) and other gear you might need. They don't have ski pants for rent. They start at $99 and and don't expect them to fit well. The first pair I tried on I couldn't even button and the second (one size larger) was about 2 in too big in the waste so I had to buy some suspenders. But on the bright side, they do have Starbucks coffee (not a Starbucks but they do serve Starbucks).

Making a trip to the Alyeska Resort & Hotel in Gir...

Making a trip to the Alyeska Resort & Hotel in Girdwood is fun anytime of the year. Both winter and summer sports are celebrated here and many Olympic Athletes have called these mountains home. There are slopes for all levels of skiing and the instructors are excellent, especially with children! The resort has long encouraged kids from Anchorage to come out to learn to ski/snowboard and they have partnered with many agencies and the school district to ensure they reach any child who wants to give the slopes a try. This resort is family friendly while at the same time a great escape for couples. There is also a young vibe here. A true blending on generations with everyone enjoying themselves. The hotel is one of my favorites in Alaska and even though it isn t far from home, we love to escape here for at least a couple of weekends each year. I ve also visited many times as a conference participant and this is a fantastic spot for any kind of gathering (and is very popular as a wedding venue). There are several eateries within the resort, I ve tried them all many times. From the fine dining atop the mountain at the Seven Glaciers to the entertainment and atmosphere at the Sitzmark, you can t go wrong. For those that don t hike/ski/snowboard/bike...the tram runs from the hotel to the top of the mountain where the views are breathtaking. There is also a wonderful small museum up there that is worth the trip up. Additionally, the resort has a spa, pool and several shops, so you will not have a dull moment. Girdwood is a special Alaskan town, make sure to leave time to wander and support all of the local businesses when you plan your trip. Ask the hotel about their shuttle which makes the rounds within the resort and the town.

Restaurant offering is disappointing. Very pricey. No possibility to sit outside for food or drink which is a shame in such a beautiful spot. Restaurants at summit are average and very pricey.
Hiking trails and bike trails are wonderful.

The location is beautiful. The level of customer service is astoundingly poor. Our wedding coordinator was Jennifer and our experience with her continually left us fervently wishing we had chosen a different venue. Expect slow response times (1-2 weeks average) and a lack of attention to detail. I'm also very surprised to see in the previous review that a wedding just one week before ours was permitted to have cupcakes at their wedding. We were told cupcakes were not in keeping with their brand. Beyond our unfortunate experience with Jennifer, we found the service at Seven Glaciers for our reception dinner to be lacking as well. Our cake was beautiful, but when it was served the pieces had been cut in lopsided and awkward shapes so that some guests received a tiny sliver whereas others received large chunks. As for drinks, we had to place orders several times over for them to be fulfilled. My drink was empty for more than half of the time we were there. The food was good, but the food we had at Jack Sprat for our rehearsal dinner the night before was genuinely delicious, well prepared, and beautifully presented. Interesting, considering Jack Sprat is more casual dining where Seven Glaciers touts itself as a five star restaurant. All things considered, the wedding day itself went relatively smoothly, but the yearlong planning process leading up to it was short of a nightmare due to the frustratingly slow and inattentive communication process with Jennifer. I would recommend Alyeska as a resort destination, but as an event venue - look elsewhere.

Good place to spend a few rainy Alaskan fall days. Right at the foot of several nice hiking trails in the area. Note that the tram to the top of Mt. Alyeska closes for seasonal maintenance in the shoulder seasons. Resort is showing some wear and tear around the edges, but while I was there the big story was they've been bought by a new Canadian firm. Perhaps they'll make a few needed, but subtle, updates to the rooms

Beautiful 5 star accomodations in the most beautiful state in the US. Great food and great prices. Plenty of terrain for great skiing! They also get a ton of snow. Would definitely go back! How many places can you go skiing and stand on top of a gorgeous mountain and look down at the ocean that meets it's base??

Love this place. Staff is friendly and very accommodating. Stay and ski for free--call for better rates than online published rates. Fantastic dining at 7 Glaciers--only open Fri-Sun.

If you're not staying, you'll need a locker. $10 for the day in the restrooms next to tram/lift ticket office on the second floor. If going with a group, can use one locker--big enough to hold at least 4 pairs of boots.

This resort has dry sauna, a hot tub, pool and showers with premium quality toiletries. The huge towels smell so clean and fresh. Can walk in your robes and slippers to the fitness center.

Food is great in all restaurants. Service excellent and wine selection superb. And by the way, they have Starbucks.

Definitely one of the nicer hotels I've been to. It gives a feeling of easy luxury - not pretentious or swanky, but with great attention to detail. The location is fantastic - you can choose from several hikes starting just at the hotel, or just enjoy the grounds. Also, there's a selection of eateries both in the hotel and within a short walking distance. Best of all, we saw a female moose with her babies, and a black mama bear with her three cubs just in the vicinity.

The rooms are small. No coffee offered in the room or lobby. Grumpy staff. Way too pricy for what you get. Resort fees and the municipal tax are expensive add-ons to the bill. I ll opt for an Air B&B next time.

Staff very friendly, great hotel, great location and awesome trails. Very relaxed stay. Very recommended even after being checked in to two dirty rooms.
Although my problem started when I got home. I was checking my visa statement and I saw that the hotel charged me the day after we checked out. I called, after being transferred three times, it was an answering machine, which the person never called back. I called again and the woman would take care of it right away. Which was awesome. Now Today I check my visa statement to see that they reimbursed me but CHARGED ME AGAIN then reimbursed me again. Which you all know that you lose on currency rate when you get reimbursed. I called to see why they did that, and after being transferred three times again, and yet to an answering machine. Very frustrating. CHECK YOUR BANK ACCOUNTS!!!

I'd left a pair of pricey sunglasses on a table here, and realized my mistake shortly after leaving. I called them up, and as my table hadn't been cleared yet, the sunglasses were still on it. I was on the road, and turning around would have been inconvenient (though possible) but the staff said they could stick them in the managers office and I could pick them up the next weekend. The next weekend came, and my sunglasses were gone. I got a whole run around over talking to different people and lost and found locations, but in the end, they were still gone.

Fair enough, right? I forgot my sunglasses, shouldn't have left them in Alyeska's care, and one of their employees jacked them.

What really sucked was trying to talk to someone at Alyeska about it. I called their security department once ever two or three weeks for about two months. It got to the point that the second to last time I called, the guy at the security desk had talked to me twice before and started to feel bad that the people he passed my info along to weren't contacting me back. In the end I got frustrated as I once again gave them my telephone and email address, and refused to get off the phone until they said they would call their manager at home and he'd get back to me the next day.

Two days later I finally got a call back from someone who apparently had some authority. He said they don't take any responsibility for lost and found items.

This place is too expensive to risk staff stealing your things and management give you a glacially cold shoulder...

Spent the afternoon here a couple of weeks ago snowboarding, the staff was amazing and friendly. I was so excited to be able to say I've snowboarded in Alaska and the weather made for a great day. I wanted to give a special thanks to John Strange from the rental shop, he went above and beyond, it was the quickest and easiest rental.

It's a nice resort but it is expensive and currently not open all hours since there is no snow which kinda sucks. It's really the only option in the Anchorage area though since hilltop is trash. Student discount is nice though, still overpriced but I'm going to pay anyway because I like skiing.

"Stay and Ski free" experience was awesome. I have a season pass, so my girlfriend got to snowboard free both days! Staff is friendly and helpful. The culture and lack of crowds and lines here makes this place a true hidden gem. 'Laska!

Comfortable rooms. Lots of dining options. Such a lovely setting for a hotel. We loved the tram to the top and the pool and hot tub. On our last day we saw a mama black bear and her cubs on the resort property.

Loved this hotel and the mountain...it snowed everyday we were there and couldn't have asked for anything better. The staff, the rooms, the pool, where does it end with the praise? How can you beat getting up to take a quick dip, eat breakfast and then walking to the cablecar out the door for first tracks!???

This seemingly German inspired resort did not disappoint. Nestled against the forest and green, rugged mountains, the hotel and grounds were exceptional. The summer season offered us the chance to rent fat-tired mountain bikes for a killer deal and enjoy the Nordic Ski loop of trails up nearby and in the trees. It was an activity more catered to moderate or skilled riders to make it up the trail hills...but we also biked around all of Girdwood and took in extraordinary views and ate locally in town. One could also go on foot everywhere too.
The resort also had a sunset concert on mountaintop that was accessible via tram. Overall, we can t wait to return but next time in winter to experience the slopes and the beautiful pool and spa (only available to guests or by purchasing a spa service).

As a travel agent:

As a travel agent:
I can not understand why there are no other reviews for this spectacular hotel. As you walk into the lobby a fire pit warms you up--and that's what you get inside Warmth! Top notch staff in all their areas.

This hotel is located in the quaint town of Girdwood, where children have off one day a week to ski. It's breathtaking inside the mountain and the ski lift chair ride will be the best ride up to the top. Get off to ski or continue on to the top notch restaurant to have the best mouth watering food.

If you have never been to winter paradise this is it! Who knew that this ski area would hold the romance and beauty for so much. It has one of the best restaurant that holds tons of awards for Dining. I can assure that each bite of my dinner only brought tears of happiness as I discovered such fine dining at Seven Glaciers!

The hotel lobby is unique with all kinds of shops from bagels to ski boots.
The rooms are equipped in beauty and comfort. You won't be disappointed here.

We arrived at the end of our stay in Alaska at this resort. I loved Girdwood, a cute, artsy ski town. I would definitely stay in this town again but would pick a different place to stay.
For me, I am not a resort person, for those that are this place fits the bill. We arrived at 4:50pm, well past the check in time and were told by an evasive receptionist that they would call us when the room was ready? Oh and she added we were welcome to peruse the bar or restaurants on site. My question to her was, what are you offering me for this inconvenience? Nothing....
Our room was small and had a nice view of the tram, but in the end we all felt we would prefer a different spot to stay in the area.
Girdwood-awesome!

I love this hotel the 3 stars is because our recent stay on mother's day. We booked for the amazing hot tub but had over 150kids in pool in hot tub and the sauna even during adult hour. We forgot stuff in our room and the security phone wasn't working and front desk refused to help. The bread sticks were burnt twigs super small for $10. Overall since the change of ownership this is the worse we've experienced for the money we paid.

The noise level was ridiculous! So much yelling up and down the halls and in room above had to turn up the tv to drown out the sounds. Bath water so cold it wasn t worth getting into. Ate at the restaurant and got charged double had to call the waiter over he fixed it but now I have to wait 3-5 days for the refund then was charged again for the correct price so the cost is temporarily 3x the amount of the bill.

Went for a work party and stayed the night. Really enjoyed the banquet hall. Unfortunately we got woken up by a very loud fire alarm. I was surprised they didn't have a complimentary breakfast, they do offer one for purchase but I opted not to.

Dreamy. There in the fall, nice people, numerous great hikes right from the hotel. Lots of moose. Ski on, ski out in the winter - wish I could be there then. One criticism: for such a beautiful location, the bar is a pit (the venue, not the staff - they are great). One tiny window, no outdoor seating in the summer.
