Just came back from a stay at this resort.... If anyone is going to Girdwood.. you MUST stay here. The resort is beautiful and the staff is wonderful... The surroundings are breath-taking and there is lots to do. Although it wasn't quite ski season yet, we could see where this would be the ideal place to go with all its amenities and well-thought out design. The rooms are luxurious and very well-appointed. Can't wait until I go back again!
Thank you all at the Alyeska Resort for making this such a great trip for us!

Second year in a row we stayed at Alyeska Resort in Girdwood Alaska. Whether it's skiing, Eating, Snowmobiling to the Glaciers, Ice fishing, Dog sledding, Mountain trails, Whale watching or Swimming this is the place to stay. The resort is surrounded by mountains and it is nature at it's best.

Stayed over night and snowboarded. I'm no pro but the lower slopes are easy peasy. The hotel is well appointed and had everything you could want. Great spa and pool a nice gym, the restaurants and bars are ok but nothing special. Worth the trip for sure.

Don't stay here unless you want them overcharge your credit card for no reason. I prepaid the full price through an agency for my one night stay. However they charged me additional $230 for no reason. I contacted them three times, but they insisted they didn't see the charge on their side. They claimed the charge was incidental and it will be credited to my account in a week. It's been two weeks, the charge is still on my statement. The staff is extremely irresponsible at looking into the case and answering questions. Plus incidentals should be pending charges, how can they actually put the charge on my account?! The hotel is absolutely not worth the price I paid for.

I write a lot of positive reviews but I don t find myself writing negative reviews, I think maybe a total of 3 in my life. This business has earned my time to write a bad one. AWFUL customer service, like probably the lowest I ve seen in a long, long, long time.
The property is beautiful and if you re going skiing then I don t think there is a better place. The food there isn t that great, maybe average, so if you have to stay here make sure you go to Jack Sprats for food at least once and of course the famous Double Musky. The hikes are awesome and so is the location. That being said .
They don t have to worry about messing up because they have no accountability or competition. Reading over other reviews after my having my issue these, in -fact, are common are issues. I can see that they make a lot of mistakes and make no effort to correct or even look into these errors. Some of the reviews I have read (I think on Trip Advisor) said that the customer service reps are not trained. I am in customer service and I can tell you that they are trained, but trained to not care. Many of the reviews talk about their policy and how cold and unattached they are, that is how they are trained to be. Alyeska DOES NOT CARE about you as a guest. They care about doing enough to take care of a need in Girdwood. If they make a mistake they don t fix it and if your room isn t good enough, tuff luck. The rooms BTW are small and dated. This is something easy to overlook because it s in such a beautiful location.
My experience was not as extreme as some of the others I have read but frustrating just the same. I called and made my appointment. I live in Alaska and just about an hour from this hotel. We didn t want to stay for the skiing so looking back, if you have a choice, just stay at Captain Cook, Princess Lodge, or even Best Western Lake Lucille Inn. Just as beautiful if not more that Alyeska. Anyway we booked our hotel for a rate of just over $300 for one night. We told the person on the phone that we wanted to stay longer and she said that she would have to charge an extra $30 and then we gave her our CC. She sent the bill almost immediately and it didn t have our late check out mentioned at all. We called back within 10 min and got the same lady. She said not to worry it was notated on our reservation. I asked her how they would know we paid for it then and she said that we wouldn t be charged again since it had that notation. Guess what, WRONG. We got a charge on our room receipt and it had the fee. We took it down to the front desk and explained to them this was not supposed to be charged. She argued with me for about 10 min and finally said fine, she would just waive the fee as a courtesy. I wish I had her put that in writing because it was just a lie to get me out of her face. The fee was never reversed. I called the CC Company and told them what this business did I truly believe that they do this to guest all the time and collect a lot of fees they shouldn t. The CC company declined after researching it because the hotel gave them a statement saying I stayed late (because I did) but they failed to mention I already paid for it, what they are now claiming is that the price I was charged initially was for just the room. I have talked to several front desk people and a manager a couple times. They will not budge, they continue to tell me that I am lying and they don t make mistakes, their computer is fool proof. I think it s SHADY and low life practice. Reading the other reviews they have done things like this a lot. I realize it s only $30 but I m more disgusted by the lack of morals and ethics this company demonstrates.
If you can stay somewhere else DO. If you can t or just want the experience of beautiful Girdwood (and BTW none of the other businesses in Girdwood are like this, other places go out of their way to please) mind that if there is an error or your room isn t satisfying, you will lose the battle, they just don t care.

All of the small details make staying at this resort a real treat. The rooms are well appointed and comfortable, lovely linens, plently of pillows and supportive beds make for a great night's rest. The turndown service, bathrobes, slippers and towel heaters definitely make you feel pampered. The pool and exercise area are the best we have had in Alaska. The on property restaurants are pretty good, and the staff are kind and helpful.

A beautiful resort, gorgeous mountains, professionally staff and a lovely stay. Couldn't have asked for anything more. Went snowboarding for the first time and it eased the most fun I've had in a long time.

I can't comment about customer service or the rooms or anything like that. We just did the tram ride and hiked around a little bit. The resort looks very beautiful and the hiking views were great.

I've stayed here a few times during both Summer and Winter. Fantastic resort, with great staff. The resort is surrounded by mountains and beautiful scenery. Within the resort there is a salt water pool, a couple nice restaurants, and a spa. There is also a tram that takes you up to the top of the mountain for ski lovers.

Restaurants are hit or miss. We live nearby, so visit regularly. Today was a miss. Table and menus were sticky, drinks were ok, no substitutions on food (the Texas toast or foccicia bread is awful, would much rather have a salad or bread sticks, no accommodating by management), bread sticks we ordered were burnt, but the service was great as always. I know it's off season, but did not feel accommodated like we usually do.

Amazing scenery and nature trails. It offers a number of restaurants and the place is very clean and elegant. We only stayed one night, but managed to get a 5 mile hike on the Winter Creek trail.

We stopped at the hotel for dinner. The food was very pricey and wasn't that good, definitely not worth the price. I ordered a $15 hamburger and the bun was really crunchy, it was way over toasted. They replaced the bun but the burger still wasn't that good. I wouldn't recommend going there.

Smallest bed ever, air conditioning made horrid noise all night, and didn't even cool. water in the sink will scald you while water in the bathtub was only Luke warm. The lady at the desk said to just let it run for a while. It ran an hour same tepid temp. I wouldn't reccomend this place at all lol

I've taken the aerial Tram up to the top twice now, once in early February and again in May. The mountain top has a great view of the surrounding mountains and valleys. I definitely recommend seeing it with snow on the ground, and when everything is green.

The tram offers a great opportunity to see animals as you ascend and descend.

There's a nice restaurant and bar at the top to grab a bite or drink and take in the view.

This place is amazing, the staff, the trails and the ambiance! Gold panning, wildlife and good food all nearby. I am planning another trip soon, due to the amount of activities so close to the resort and it was my first trip you Alaska. Cannot recommend this resort enough, it exceeded my expectations.

Normally I really like the hotel but we had a terrible time the last time we stayed there. For one thing when we checked out they charged me for my bill on my debit card. When I get back home I see the charge twice. I called and they said they issue a hold on the account before they officially charge your card. I asked why it was still not in my checking account after three days, in that case they said it would take up to week for my bank to process it and there was nothing they could do. I then called my bank because I am a college student and can't be without hundreds of dollars for a week. They said that Alyeska could fax them a letter to have it removed (something the Alyeska employee failed to mention or offer). I then called Alyeska again and got someone helpful who helped me resolve my issue. Additionally the staff at the Pond Cafe was very rude in telling us we were too late to have breakfast. We were really looking forward to breakfast and we arrived fifteen minutes before they were supposed to close but they directed us to another restaurant in the building that took forever. Great hotel room, awesome food, and great views but it wasn't really worth much with the amount of stress.

In the Alyeska Mountain Sports Shop, BUYER BEWARE.

Full disclosure: We did not stay in the hotel.

Call it ignorance but, I thought a nice Sporting Goods store at a destination resort would have a 'concierge' attitude towards customer service. Nope. You buy something, it falls apart promptly as you arrive home, and only then do you find out that, all returns are for store credit only. So, not only is shipping or flying to AK prohibitively expensive, it would also be pointless. Stay Classy Alyeska.

When visiting a tourist trap like this one, from now on, I'll make sure to verify the return policy before making any purchases. Ugh.

Hotel was amazing as was the dining experience and room service. Everything was shut down for the season. Tram was down. Did not get to have the whole experience of going up the mountain which was one reason we decided to drive 45 minutes from Ancorage to stay. Disappointed that we didn't get to see all of that but didn't deter us from site seeing elsewhere.

It's a One Stop Shop. Comfortable luxury in a rustic environment. Great hub for some wonderful day trips. Best valued on the edge of the seasons. Otherwise it's a little pricey. Can't beat the views that God put here though. Where else were you have glaciers out your window.

Spectacular property with 10-star service. We stayed but a night, arriving late and leaving too early, but simply fantastic. We talked the operator into comping us the sky car (I've forgotten its real name) for myself and my two younger children to travel to the top of the mountain, and between that and the copious amount of chocolates left for us at bed turn-down, the kids will never forget this place. Plus, we almost hit an Elk (Moose?) right around the corner (lesson: When you see cars stopped and people looking into the bush with cameras, that should tell you to slow down the driving).

Great resort, although expensive, it has many amenities. 2 nice restaurant/bars and a cafe/Starbucks. As well as a sundries shop. Tramway to the top of the mountain with a nice cafe that had good food with a spectacular view. Rooms are very nice and comfy. I would recommend every one who visits Girdwood make a stop here to check it out.

Went for a day trip during Spring Break, the slope is amazing! The only reason I give it four stars is because they don't give student discounts over Spring Break, because it counts as "holiday" to them. Even though I went on a Thursday, I paid the full weekend price of $80. Pretty steep for a few hours of skiing if you ask me. It will be a while before I ever come back as it's hard for me to drop that much cash on something like that. Overall, would definitely recommend, as long as you don't mind the expense.
