I wanted to love this place. It has a quirky old atmosphere and a big list of beers. However, I'm afraid the beer was bad. I did a full sampler and struggled to get most of them down (and I love real ale!). Perhaps the casks weren't fresh at the end of the year or the lines hadn't been cleaned recently. Even the mulled cider was sour and not very tasty. It seemed touristy, with a guest book from visitors around the world. Also, I usually expect breweries to be immaculately clean, but this was sorely in need of cleaning and some care.

Fun, quirky place to stop for a pint. When we visited there was live music on which was really enjoyable and the staff were really friendly!
Unfortunately, the beer was really hit or miss. We were a number of people and we each got a different beer so as to try as many as possible; there were a few that none of us were willing to have more than one sip of. We left at least one of our pints completely full when we left. Where we were sitting was pretty dusty and buggy which turned me off.
However, the brewery is definitely worth a shot - it wasn't my thing but my husband was a big fan!

Thoroughly looked forward to visiting AllanWater Brewhouse, (popped in on Wednesday 23rd)
We are huge fans of micro breweries & pubs and much prefer to support local independent pubs & breweries.
However,
As soon as we walked in the door we were confronted, (also shocked & saddened) to see fish incarcerated in 2 VERTICAL fish tanks measuring approximately 6 x 6 x 3ft tall !
It made my wife & I feel quite ill.
Who, in they re right mind would admire such beautiful creatures so much then, think its a good idea to place them in a VERTICAL glass tube for the rest of their miserable lives ?
In their natural environment fish will swim for thousands of miles in ALL directions not, forced to float up & down in an ultra-confined space.
In this day & age, of, encouraging better understanding of our environment & animal welfare, there s no place for this sort of spectacle.
It shouldn t be shown in a public house or, anywhere for that matter, we are no longer in the 1970 s !
I understand that the fish in question wouldn t now survive in their natural environment but please, place them into a much LARGER HORIZONTAL tank at least.
As for your beer,
yes, it was drinkable and staff were friendly enough but We didn t stop for another.
Only 2 stars i m afraid as we weren t fans of a certain aspect of your decor

A quirky little pub tucked away behind the main street. Great atmosphere. We took the brewery 'gold' tour guided by Jonathan. Very enlightening and amusing and received samples of 9 real ales, 1 lager and 2 ciders. Also included a meal (steak pie and veg) and 2 pints of your choice. All in all a brilliant afternoon. Many thanks

Absolutely perfect evening out. Dog was the happiest of all three of us with pats from literally every person, but we definitely enjoyed ourselves too. The beer was superb and such a fun set up where you can try nearly everything (twice if you're up to it). Love, love, loved.

Good range of real ales here. The chilli pot was too much for my taste but one of our company had 2 pints and pronounced it excellent. I had 3 pints of the 70 shilling ale which hit all the right notes. Tuesday evening has live music. The folk singer, John, from Crieff , was excellent. A lovely balance of well sung melodies and excellent guitar accompaniment.

I loved this place definitely recommend it. There was live jazz music when I visited on Sunday. It was very busy as this is a very popular event. Staff were very welcoming, impressive range of real ales and bottled beers. They sell gins, whiskies, wines, soft drinks including teas and coffees.
The venue is small however it has loads of character and atmosphere. Wish I lived nearer I will definitely be going back when I'm next up in Bridge of Allan.
If you love real ale it is a must to visit.

Superb atmosphere with cards and board games available, there is also live music sessions too.

The brewery's flagship beer is called "Bridge Ale," which pays homage to its hometown location on Bridge Street in Bridge of Allan. This classic Scottish ale has won numerous awards over the years for its rich flavor profile that combines notes of caramel, malted barley, and hops.

Other popular beers produced by Allanwater Brewhouse include "Stirling Pale Ale," "Scottish Stout," "Raspberry Wheat Beer," and "Citra IPA."
