Thoroughly looked forward to visiting AllanWater Brewhouse, (popped in on Wednesday 23rd)
We are huge fans of micro breweries & pubs and much prefer to support local independent pubs & breweries.
However,
As soon as we walked in the door we were confronted, (also shocked & saddened) to see fish incarcerated in 2 VERTICAL fish tanks measuring approximately 6 x 6 x 3ft tall !
It made my wife & I feel quite ill.
Who, in they re right mind would admire such beautiful creatures so much then, think its a good idea to place them in a VERTICAL glass tube for the rest of their miserable lives ?
In their natural environment fish will swim for thousands of miles in ALL directions not, forced to float up & down in an ultra-confined space.
In this day & age, of, encouraging better understanding of our environment & animal welfare, there s no place for this sort of spectacle.
It shouldn t be shown in a public house or, anywhere for that matter, we are no longer in the 1970 s !
I understand that the fish in question wouldn t now survive in their natural environment but please, place them into a much LARGER HORIZONTAL tank at least.
As for your beer,
yes, it was drinkable and staff were friendly enough but We didn t stop for another.
Only 2 stars i m afraid as we weren t fans of a certain aspect of your decor
