Alberta Co-op Taxi Review

They said 10 minutes. (Non peak hours, fyi) waited half an hour, and called uber.

Uber rocks super badly. It's way cheaper, and way faster, especially when compared to this useless company. The reason uber is putting taxi companies out of service is because these companies drive people to alternatives. Thank god we weren't needing to go to the airport

I left my wallet in a cab. Called a few hours later and was told if they would contact the driver to look for it. After countless calls to them, two days later the driver apparently got back to them. I was told he had been sleeping (for 2 days) as he works nights. Meanwhile a spending spree on my credit cards. When I finally got the call... the wallet wasn't there. Shocking. But apparently the driver was well rested so, that's a plus.

Takes forever waited 30 min gave up and called barrle taxi they were at my local within 4 minutes

The drivers need to learn the city better. Every time I get in one, they ask me directions to where I need to go. I don't drive so I don't always know that.

Came to boost my vehicle, took out a battery charger that didn't seem to work. The guy tried for 2 minutes to start the vehicle. It wouldn't start. If it's a dead vehicle generally you must leave it connected for a minute or two. I decided to get a ride home with this taxi driver. When he dropped me off he charged me also double because of the boosting which didn't work at all. I could have attached two dead branches to the battery and they would have done more. I told him we really didn't have the money to be spending on a service that didn't work at all. He kept on about policie and how he couldn't do anything and had no control. Really bad customer service, and next time I will be waiting for ama to come save me because co-op definitely will not save you, and then scam you out of your hard earned money.
Thanks co-op for nothing, I would really like my 25$ back.

I use their services regularly, and I'm always satisfied with the professional attitude I receive. Polite, friendly and helpful drivers. Clean and well-maintained cars. The rates are fair. Most importantly, they are always on time, which is essential for me given my extremely busy schedule.

Called for a cab and got a confirmation after 5 minutes. Courteous driver and clean cab. Been using their airport service a couple of times now. Satisfied passenger here.

How is this company still running? The number of poor reviews on it should be enough that people should not be using them. I have had clients use co-op cabs who get verbally harassed by them, and I as well got yelled at on the road by a driver for some reason unknown to me. Not only are they mean to their customers, but they do not follow the driving laws. I cannot tell you how many times I've seen a co-op cab cut someone off, not signal, or driving erratically. No wonder people use Uber.

Ordered a cab to my house via another company this company was 30 minutes late so i called co op Cab number 143, shows up at my house and sees the other cab company there he immediately started giving me attitude I was going to go with co op but you don't lip off to customers ever. If he would have been polite I would have gone with co op unfortunate they have people that are disrespectful working for them.

Called to get a cab and dealt with a very rude woman. Not going to use them ever again...

Consistently very late, I often call them back to make sure they're actually coming. Do not recommend.

They wouldn't come to the liquor store. Drove up seen it was a beer and wine and left. I got a receipt for a dollar. Called back and it took a hour for a second cab to show. And it left too! We signed up with Uber and life has been great since.

First - Rude customer service.
Was initially told 15 minute wait. Cab was a no show in 15 minutes ... so I called back - and again told 15 minutes.
So half hour later when i called back I was told I was not even on the wait list anymore.
So I was waiting for co-op and there was not even a cab coming for me.
Uber showed up before these guys, even though they were called half hour later.
Too many times this happened to me waiting for coop.
From now on its gonna be UBER.
Regular cabs are too unpredictable. You never know if you're gonna get a ride or not.

With Co-Op Taxi it is a hit or miss. Call takers with this company usually very polite as are most drivers who have been with company for a long time. But lately some cab drivers do not seem as professional. For example today cab number 125 was extremely rude. The whole short ride was spent with him discussing how rude clients were. Asked him to stop he just got more enraged. Many many times he reiterated how much "he hate this job" I have also had cab drivers show up in winter and get stuck. They have no snow tires and no shovels no way to dig out,Will make fare sit and wait and will not call for another cab,Rather their passenger must wait until they decide they need help,In Edmonton we have lots of snow so this is really unacceptable. I have used Co-Op taxi for years at least 50 and because of their courtesy stayed with them. But some of the newer drivers seem bent on undermining the professionalism of this company by their behavior. No supervisor ever calls you back if you do complain. For a company that boasts about their reputation it is really contradictory. Maybe Uber would be better because Co Op does not seem to be stepping up to the plate lately!

I take them every day for work or groceries quick food stops not to mention I always tip them even if they aren t very chatty or quick enough today I got a new guy car 610 he asked me for a deposit of 30$ on a 6$ ride I told him I had 100$ in cash and my bank card there s no way im not gonna pay a 12$ trip and showed him my cash he even goes oh you only have 100$ cash ? while I asked him to park outside while I grabbed two items and came back out I told him I would give him 10 deposit as I m only running in and out and either way that s over my trip amount which was 6$ he then said well I m going to leave if the meter reaches 10 while you re in there and I can just tell how rude he was he would have taken it as a tip and left imagine if I left him with 30$ and he just took off anyways I asked for all my change back and took a Uber back after my 2 minute stop in the store guy was rude I ve never had a issue only once when it comes to co op I ll be sticking to Uber .

0/5 for that prick who raised his voice at me. called for a cab and he said they don pick up at intersections, told him to pick me up at macs at xx and he said there's none and hung up. very ill-mannered.

I just visited Edmonton for the first time and this cab company may be the worst I have ever seen. When you order a cab they never show up and when they do they take you for a ride to drive up your fair. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!

UPDATE....THEY REPILED TO THIS POST. AS YOU CAN SEE BELOW. SO I EMAILED THEM USING THE INFO THEY PROVIDED BELOW. ITS BEEN OVER A WEEK AND THEY STILL HAVEN'T RETURNED PHONES CALLS OR EMAILS. One of their drivers claims he hit our truck, which was parked in the parking lane. We were out of the truck putting money into the meter. The cab driver magically had someone else from the company delivering behind him that yelled I saw everything I'll go write up the report and spends off. So we got blamed for damage to his can even though there was not a single mark on our truck. Smooth scam guys. Still waiting for your company to return my many calls I left since March.

Really an "okay" hit or miss experience. I've had many, many more horrible drivers than I have had good ones. They always take the longest route, take longer than expected to arrive and several times they have not used a gps and have gone to completely the wrong address and charged me for the entire ride. I would rather be on a bus for 2 hours than deal with this company again. Don't rely on these guys if you have somewhere to be on time.

It's not fun waiting over an hour for the cab that was already "in the system" and "on its way".

I have used this company for years and have never had issues until the last 2 months. Rude drivers, drivers trying to rip me off, and defianetly at night would never trust to be alone in one. Last night I was in one with some friends and before we even left we were sitting at $7.40. When we said were not paying that he swore at us and we finally got him to pull over a couple blocks down the road so we could get out. Called and made a complaint (cab 867) and another one was going to be sent, that never did show up. Thankfully I was not alone stranded on the side of the road. If you are a woman be especially careful. (I would not travel alone)

Was recently picked up by number 149, wow what a dirty car inside . it was filthy, do they even care about their customers? Next time i would rather take ETS instead.

the taxi drivers don't wait at all. The taxi driver I had just ran off because there was traffic and he did not want to wait for it to clear. Please don't use co-op if you need to get to places on time.

Saw one of their drivers playing with his cell today while driving. Pulled beside him to give him a piece of my mind, then he rudely tells me it's allowed in a parking lot. I asked him if he wanted to go to the cop shop across the parking lot to ask them he said sure, get there and then he tried saying I punched a big dent in his car. WTH?????

I have been a loyal customer of co OP for years .in that time I have only had a couple of bad trips mostly with the drivers .which was resolved very quickly by the company. They believe in treating their customer with excellent service.if you do have a issue it can be resolved by calling and talking to the driver supervisor. Almost all the drivers are friendly and pleasant and many have gotten to know both myself and my wife from repeated trips .I would recomend them

I just had a cab drive me home.. i will always choose co-op! They are the best!!!!

Their website does an estimate for the cost of you ride and it said $56. We hit no traffic and had a very quick ride and we paid double that by the time we arrived. Terrible way to do business. Also their driver picked us up from a private driveway and started driving before I was all the way in the car. Will not use again.

Why is Co-op taxi of Edmonton angry at/curt with customers?

To be honest the ride should of been free. Cab driver didn't even know how to get to the destination I wanted which was down the street!!

Not only did he turn around, despite the fact I told him he was going the right way (luckily he reset the meter to offset the 4$ of charge that was his own fault), but even as we approached the destination despite me describing ALL the landmarks and where to turn he still almost missed it.

Would give zero stars if I could. I have only lived here 2 months and know my way around the city. How can someone whose only job is to learn the roads (main road at that!) not know his way around? Won't be calling this agency again. Save your money.

Nothing but issues with this taxi company, I called to book a cab the people on the other end of the phone are rude. I was told by one person to f-off. Got the run around when my cab did not show up. When I spoke to a supervisor I got yelled at. With Uber you would think they would have better customer service. The drivers are just as rude as the people who book the taxi's. Would give zero stars. Do not use this cab company.

Always not available everytime we ask for a cab. Taking forever to arrive. We waited for 2 hours at walmart. Had a very bad experience of service last winter of 2013. I would not recomend this cab to any of my friends and compatriots. Costumer service reps are rude.

My Taxi driver wasn't paying attention and almost caused a major crash on Ahenday. These drivers need to be paying more attention they are driving people who pay to have a good driving service. Not a driver's who almost causes a roll over from driving too fast and reckless . Train your driver's to be responsible for other people's lives. They aren't driving themselves they are driving clients who expect not to get killed from reckless speeding taxi drivers.

If you need to be somewhere on time don t expect them to show up when you call ahead

Absolute rudest service I've ever received. Will never use this cab company EVER again. I would rather walk 10km in -40 than use this company. I called to get a cab at my apartment and the guy was SO rude. He wanted the apartment # I was staying in after I told him 3 times I would be waiting outside as I didn't feel comfortable giving my apartment # out. He said (word for word) "no apartment #, no cab" and hung up. I see why they have a 1 star rating. (I NEVER write Google reviews and if I could give them a lesser rating I would). Yellow cab was at my door in 5 minutes after he hung up on me (oh and they never asked what apartment I was staying in...)

I love using Co-op Taxi because they are always so pleasant to chat with, polite dispatch, spotless cars and they know the fastest, most safe routes to all my destinations. Its so nice that they are always on time and willing to help with my luggage. If you are travelling anywhere and need a cab, make sure to contact them for your next ride!

I called this taxi company 20mins ago and the receptionist was extremely rude, offensive and inpatient. This is unacceptable and nobody should have to put up with racial comments at any cost. Due to this I will no longer be calling this company and I will recommend this to friends and family.

Driver made us pre pay $80 for where we needed to go, which is an insane amount, but there was absolutely no other cabs in the area and it was -40 degrees celsius outside. It ended up costing us only $10 and he refused to refund our $70. That was at the beginning of February. I have been fighting with the supervisor for almost a month now and I was promised a refund of $70. Still have yet to see that.
The managers don't seem to care that their drivers are rude and ripping people off.

Very disappointing the cab didn t show up till half an hour and I was late for work because of this. How long before do you want me to book a cab so I reach work on time. So frustrated and when I called customer service she was not even show concern and then the cab driver said maybe someone didn t accept your ride because they know you. So unprofessional. Never taking coop taxi again.

I always have a great experience when I call Co-Op Taxi. The drivers are professional, the cars are clean and I always feel safe. They are reliable and my go-to if I have an arrival deadline because I know I won't be let down. Highly recommend!

I have loved co op for the past few years, the only cab company I would use to be honest. But after today I will never use them again! I was late for work because my one cab decided not to show up, and then the next one decided the cancel in route. Finally, gave up and went with Yellow Cab. They got me to work on time. Highly recommend Yellow Cab

Asked to go up 97 st which was about a block away. Driver took an early left and went to Yellowhead for literally a block. We were stuck in traffic for ten minutes. This direction literally makes no sense. If he just drove down a block and then turned left I would have paid half. No tip and not using service again. No wonder the ratings are bad.

So far only good experiences. Always on time and friendly.

I was standing outside for more then 40 min and when i call to see why my cab hasn't arrived ,they tell me that the cab showed up and that no one was there ,when i told the operator that i would be using Uber going forward he told me to get a life .

Horrible cab company. I've been left out in the cold waiting for them on so many occasions. Today being one of those days. They told me the cab is coming and after waiting with my kids in the cold for more than 30 mins, a cab showed up with passengers in it and then I called again and same thing happened until I gave up and called a different cab company.

I would like to commend Taxi #431. The driver was so friendly. When he missed reading the request to pick me up at back alley, he politely informed me that he's coming to the back alley to pick me up and apologized at the same.

1. One time, I have to repeat my address 5 times so that they will record it, and what is next? They send a taxi to the wrong place!

2. The other day, I want to go the airport, and the driver is downstairs and he called, I said, would you please wait, I am coming downstairs, I got many luggage. What happened next? The guy left! The guy keep calling me, and I was in the elevator (I live on 14th floor), holding a bunch of bags in my hand, and the guy keep calling and left!

3. Worst customer service ever

Lied to us when we did a fare estimate. Very unprofessional people at the call center, I get that you hate your job but hey you're the one that accepted the position. TAKE UBER THEY WILL NEVER FAIL YOU. CO OP WILL.

Worst CaB company in Edmonton. Had to call the twice spent 40min waiting. No showed be and I called yellow cab they were 5min.

Never used this taxi service before, and from witnessing their driving I never will. Constantly see the drivers on their cellphones and swerving in between lanes. Today I witnessed one of your vans almost cause a three car collision after turning right onto 97th street. They then proceeded to drive at an extremely low speed, completely oblivious to what they had just done.

Driver talked on group call the whole ride and they were basically yelling the whole time very upset with this taxi ride

Booked cab on the 8/11/06, for next day at 9.30am at this time gave my phone number,not only did the cab not arrive,but no phone call to explain why! Recommend people use the BUS to get to airport its cheaper and more reliable!

I needed a van so I could take my oldest to hockey since our truck broke down. so I phoned the morning of her game to book a cab for noon for me and our children to get to the game. I phoned at 11;50 to make sure it was coming the lady on the phone said 10 mins so I said perfect. Well now it's 12;15 and still no cab so I phone back the lady on the phone put me on hold then came back on and said there still looking for a cab for me. STILL LOOKING ARE YOU KIDDING ME. I ordered it at like 9am it should of been here for when I ordered it. So I hung up fuming cause now we are going to be late for my daughters game. So I phoned yellow cab. Highly recommend them. They got me a van and where at my house in 10 mins. 15 mins after I left my house now being 1245 they phoned me to tell me my cab was at my house hahaha like what a joke. Terrible service will never use coop again..

Terrible service - called at 7:00 in the morning to pick me up at an autobody shop in the centre of town. Was told it would be "20 - 25 minutes". After an hour and 10 minute wait, I left and have to make other arrangements with dropping my vehicle off. I will NEVER call these guys again.

Only because I have to give a star but riders beware had a short ride this morning got picked up by cab #189. Before I even got into the cab the meter was started at 5 bucks. Riders beware of scammers trying to take you for as much as they can. Horrible service won't be using them again and will definitely let it be know on all platforms possible to watch your meters with these guys specially #189 so you want be taken advantage of.

I had just arrived from Fort McMurray after some time working up there. I called co-op in order to get a ride to the Hostle I was staying at. They told me they could not send a taxi because I was banned. When I asked why, they said I had called two different companies at the same time and they both arrived. The only problem with that was I was not even in Edmonton on the date they claimed the event occured. I was in Fort McMurray. The address they gave me was a boarding house I had stayed in earlier in May. Someone else must have done it, but they must have simply banned every number associated with that address. I called and explained their error but they are forcing me to physically go to their address and bring proof that I was in Fort McMurray.

They've been very late multiple times in the past. Recently, a driver was extremely rude to me. I tried to get hold of a manager to report him, none answered or returned my message.
Not a single cab company will get my business henceforth. You can atleast rate Uber drivers.

I have always had the absolute best service. My cans never take longer than 10 minutes to get to me and the drivers are always courteous. What's promoted me to write this, is yesterday I forgot my phone in my cab, and as it is quite expensive I was so very panicked. I phoned the lost and found, and the driver hand delivered my phone to me at my house today. I have never gone back to another company after dealing with them!

The people working for coop are the rudest people, dont know what good customer service is, both the person answring the phone and the cab driver were rude.

I am dissatisfied with a ride today. Same ride with uber was under $11. The "estimated fare" with CO-OP was $16.30. The actual meter reading at the end of the ride was just over $12 I was billed the estimated fare amount not the actual meter amount. The driver drove into an intersection on a yellow light and turned left in the intersection when the light had turned red. I will not use the CO-OP taxi service again due to unprofessional, dangerous driving and blatant over billing.

The service was great. I booked online. My original taxi driver was going to be late, so they fast-tracked a cab over to pick me up. The driver was friendly and made me feel safe.

Had the busy sign 6 times before they told me a 30 minute wait time

We ordered a cab online at 11pm on a Saturday. After waiting 30 minutes we called to make sure our online form went through. They said one would be there in 10 minutes. It never came. We used uber instead, which I had never tried before. The driver was there in 5 minutes. Since the coop taxi never phoned I'm going to assume they didn't bother responding. Awful service. Don't even bother. I wasn't an uber fan before this but the service is obviously much better.

Used their online booking and received the email booking confirmation. Twice they did not sent a cab. Very unreliable. Their booking system is terrible. Great if you want to be late or don't want to arrive at all. Customer service did not respond to both complaints and not helpful at all. Pick a different service provider. These people don't want your business and don't care.

Bad experience i lost my phone in one of ur taxi yesterday but driver and apps dayshift said nothing....theyre blaming other passengers..

So I called for a cab about 30mins ago and waited on hold for no less than 15mins then when I said "one second this lady knows the address" the lady on the phone quickly and rudely told me to "call back when you know the address " then hung up on me little did she know I was calling the cab for an older lady who is not going to sit on the phone for 15mins. Terrible service that the driver asking for more money. We took a cab there to our hotel from BMO Field and it was $16. However, before we got off the cab, we paid $20 then the driver asking for the rest of the money...
