Al Bawadi Grill Review

As good as it gets when it comes to mediterranean cuisine on the south side of Chicago and suburbs. The secret to the success of this place is consistency. They've maintained great quality and decent service since inception. They've gone through a few rounds of expansion and renovation and still maintained a great family atmosphere with the same great food.

Their prices are very reasonable. Their five-person mixed grilled platter is a definite goto with groups of 5-7 people. It offers an amazing assortments of meats with sides included.

One other thing I really like about this place: falafel and shawarma. Their falafel is legitimately the best I've had in the U.S. It's crunchy, light, fluffy, and not oily at all. Their shawarma is real shawarma, not simply seasoned meat heated up on the griddle. They know how to put together a good skewer of chicken or steak and carve it well.

Highly recommend it. Also, if you're a Chicagoan, bring your out-of-town friends here. They'll enjoy it

The prices are high, the Cayenne problem is 16.99, and now 21.99 it is difficult to come to you and the family

The food is excellent. I have never been disappointed with anything I got here. The coffee they give you at the end of the meal is spiced amazingly. General use of spices is phenomenal.

the meat was dry uneatable kids should be happy they didn't like it the taste the rice had less flavor poor custemer service
we order lemonad and fruit punch instead they gave something we don't even know what it is we heard about this from a friend we will never recommend for any body

I don't know what happened with the shawarma. It was not grilled or pressed like usual. It had a different wrap different spices. I almost taste curry inside. Not a lot of fries with the meal and no garnishment lettuce tomatoes or pickel. Il be going to pital falafel drive through. They are consistent and deliscious and good fries and garlic sauce

All the dishes I've tried here are absolutely delicious. Most of the appeal comes from the decoration and atmosphere. It is not super cheap, but still affordable for a nice dinner out.

This is probably the most popular Arabic restaurant in the Chicago area, they have a big menu of a very delicious "Halal" food. Also the restaurant looks nice and quiet. Try to avoide during the weekend and busy times, you gonna wait a little for a table, but they can be faster than other returants in the busy times

The closest Middle Eastern food I have found close to that of the Detroit/Dearborn area. Staff was great.

Very nice restaurant to hang out. The stuff is so kind. The food is delicious. I have visited a lot of arabic restaurants through the US. This one is my favorite one. I recommend you to come and enjoy the experience.

Restaurant was authentic interior as if we are in Middle East, food was great specially the konafah. Finally, the staff were super kind.

The bar has been set high and all other Arabic food restaurants near by need to take notice. Any time you try somewhere Bawadi is the standard to be measured by. Mixed grill , Lemonade with mint, and Knafi for desert....money!

Something strange is up with the lamb meat.. it has a very unpleasant taste so much so I couldn t eat the dish after a couple bites

I ve eaten here a bunch of times and loved It. Past two times I went the quality has gone down and prices got hiked. Kenefah dessert is awesome !

Eating here is definitely a unique experience. I really like their hummus, baba ganoush and falafel.

I can't say enough about this great restaurant. Food is delicious. I can't believe how friendly and warm the stuff is. You can feel they work as a team to make sure you have a great time while there! And you need to try their Konafa.. Best Konafa I have ever tasted!! For that service and delicious food no wonder they are so busy. Expect to wait at least 25 minutes especially on the weekend, if you do, let me tell you that it's worth it!! And have I mentioned that you don't have to break the bank to have a quality dinner and great time because their prices are very reasonable!!

I visited this place a few months ago and ordered the 75 dollar platter and was very impressed with the huge round platter me and my family recieved ! It was more than enough for five people. I recently took an engagement party of about 17 people. I assumed that two of those huge 75 dollar platters would be more than enough considering the first time i ordered it a group of seven of us could not finish it! When i put in the order to our waiter he told me that if i were to exclude the lamb and quails that he would add a lot more skewers of kabbobs which i told him would be fine. We waited 45 mins. for our food to get to our table and it was the most embarrassing experience! The platters were half of the platter i orderered the previous time and ther wasnt enough food on one platter for four people let alone five as to what is on the menu. They decided to add more of the chiken kabbobs and a lot less of the lamb kabbobs! When i saw how small the orders were i immediatley went to our waiter and pleaded with him to bring another platter or at least another platter of rice due to the lack of rice on the 2 platters. He told me that i would have to wait at least another half hour and by then it was too late. A few of my guests werecomplaining of some badly undercooked meat which i also consumed. I waited till my guests left and confronted the owner who was a complete arrogant tool and tried to tell me that they never server a larger platter for 75 dollars and also told me that i just didnt want to understand . I explained to him that two of the people that were with me a the first time i ordered the platter also said that it was bigger and he still told me i didnt know what i was talking about. I told him that i had no problem spending money as i dished out 300 dollars that night and i how i was soo embarresed in front of my guest. He didnt even offer an apology and had this smirk on his face like he just wanted me to leave. I will never enter that dump ever again and i have to say their meat was soo slimy and grimy it was disguting. Since that i have talked to a lot of my friends who say that the food their has lost its quality and the owner is always a tool! Go acroos the the stret to nile ! its a little less flamboyant but the food is great.

Great starters, excellent quality meat and huge portions. Loved the quail, the lamb chomps and BBQ chicken. Two thumbs up.

We ordered the 5 people mix platter and chicken tawook platter. The food was AMAZING.

The service was bad though.

We had to call the waiter multiple times instead of her visiting us and asking what we wanted. This caused us to not get the staws or the sauces and stuff on time. The second order we made took long that we were done eating.

The service was polite and friendly. Will definitely visit again and I hope the service improves.

I'll change my ratings if the service improves next time I visit.

One of the quintessential places for all Muslims to visit and eat in South Chicago but it is a little pricey. Non Muslims should go to try real Arab food.

I give no stars..I didn't like the food called emailed several times n still has yet to get my money back..it may be good to some but not everyone so I want my money back ..the food tastes spoiled no flavor I spit it out ..I want my money back plz n thank you..I call them and still didn't get my money back this place is not right.

I love this restaurant. Every time I come to Chicago, I have to eat here. I grew up eating Halal food and middle eastern cuisine so this place is a delight. Delicious food and cozy atmosphere that brings a lot of culture with your dining. Plus, very polite staff.

Zero service restaurant, bad food quality with flavor, it used to be good but not anymore. The meet was chewy with a strong smell, this place under very bad management
