Beware of luggage .. Twice here: one suitcases falling along the flight / arrivals route, the other we are waiting for a stroller, only to find it in another place without warning us and in very bad condition (on the ground with the child's games on the ground). ..

Check-in with Eurowings is outrageous. Wanted to charge us 10 per person for printing out the boarding pass. No information about the documents, masks, only disposable masks may be worn on board. This information was only available while boarding. At the security check only 3 out of 10 gates were open and a queue through the whole building!
Perfect assistance! Italian organisation at it's best! Having ordered assistance for out mother (normally walking with a mobility stroller), we pressed the button at the busparking area. A friendly voice answered in very good english. "Just wait 10 min we'll come and get you", and so they did. A nice gentleman drove us to the Assistance lounge giving us full information at all times. We waited until checkin time, were driven down into check in, passed the lines, then through the terminal to the oversize luggage drop with the stroller, in through the service security check. and down to the gate. All the time perfect friendly service and information. Thank you Venice! Gracie Venezia!
On arrival I had no problems, the suitcases arrived in an average time frame. The departure, however, was catastrophic! The small airport is totally overburdened, so that there is a lack of seating, sufficient dining options, etc. In the shops, a bottle of uncooled water (1.80 euros) is more expensive than at the street vendors on St. Mark's Square (1.50 euros, ice cold) !! The check-in counter only opened 1 hour 45 minutes before departure and then it was exactly 1 (!) Counter! About 15 minutes later you noticed that the check-in could not be handled by just one counter with an extremely slow employee and you opened a second one. At this one a family had a problem with the tickets (as far as I had noticed), so that the lady at the counter was busy talking on the phone for half an hour and looking around helplessly - within 30 minutes not a single one was at the counter Passenger checked in! At the security check, 6 streams of people are merged into a single one (through a "bottle neck"), you can hardly imagine the crowd! After I went through the old-fashioned metal detectors there was a beep, whereupon a security officer did not check me again for metal, but wiped my hands with the paper for drug / explosives traces, which he gave to a colleague (who did not notice anything had) and disappeared. This lady put the paper into the test device, which then emitted a tone and indicated something, but she didn't care and went on her way without a word. So I stood alone and abandoned in the security area and since nobody was interested in me, I just went on. At home I found out that I accidentally still had a full tetra pack with water in my hand luggage, which was not discovered during the inspection. During boarding I could see two female passengers from another flight, who were unaccompanied and disoriented wandering through the parking area of the tarmac (this is a safety area that nobody is allowed to enter without permission!), Because they had apparently missed / left their shuttle bus! The pure chaos!
Small and disorganized airport: if there are flights even at night, travelers are looking for refreshment points. From 4 to 5 only one bar is open, moreover very expensive, which enjoys a monopoly, therefore long waits and exorbitant prices. At other airports I have seen far more favorable situations for travelers.
I have been using Venice Marco Polo Airport for many years and always have a great experience. From the moment I get there, everything feels organized. I always start with a slice of pizza ;))). Checking in is always smooth. Love their staff.... professional, thorough, and friendly. I do a little shopping each time while waiting for my flight. So many great shops to choose from. Thank you for always getting me where I need to go with a smile. From Las Vegas, Michael
This airport was fairly efficient to go through. The employees all seem about as friendly as their US counterparts. The Marco Polo Lounge is available to first class or high level frequent fliers, but has a sign up (Sept 2017) saying they are no longer accepting Priority Pass members. Which is kind of nice, because it means it isn't overloaded with too many people. They have coffee, drinks, and food. The rest of the airport isn't bad. A bunch of food options of varying types (sit down or fast food), and clean restrooms. They also seem to have some high end shopping (I passed a Valentino store).
Sunday, July 29th we left with the Venice Catania flight, under a pouring rain and to get on the bus by plane there was not even a cover for the ladders, with the result that we made the flight for 1 hour and 45 minutes all soaked and mostly with air conditioning. It turned out that all my family and I are all sick and the holidays ruined. Thank you for thinking of us as passengers this way.
Not a very big airport but packs good food, nice stores, efficient setup, and generally courteous airport staff, including security. I hope they enlarge it and add more destinations
In times of covid, with the worrying data relating to the return from vacation, the lines are made without a safe distance, and the staff does not care about enforcing it. See photos.
No proper management and directions mentioned at airport. Heavy baggage drop counter is worst where no one greets you, no smile on face, nothing. You place your baggage on the belt and no one bother to tell you if all ok or not. You ask and then they respond. Venice is tourist place where too many people come from different countries so staff must speak English which is not the case here.
Arrivals quite pleasant. It's even very nice here. The outlet, however, is less pleasant. Although the baggage check-in is going smoothly (provided that you don't miss the Asian trip not understanding anything except your language), the continuation is torment. At the lower level, where there are gays, there is nowhere to stand. The time to take off passed on the upper level walks in the catering area. Where you can also dream about a seat.
Small airport, easy to get around. For USA bound flights give yourself extra time because you have to go through separate security and customs. Traveling with children under 14 will slow you even further as you have to go to a different line.
Few charging stations but not enough. Several food options, didn't try but they looked busy. Watch for gate signs on monitors as several "gates" actually share same plane walkway.
Didn't have a particularly enjoyable experience at Venice Marco Polo. Arrivals were smooth and swift, but departures was somewhat of a nightmare. The queues were poorly managed and ended up trailing through the entire departure plaza. The only reason we were given as to the reason for the queues was "All the British people are trying to go home" (August 2017).
At first glance it seemed like they re doing a good job considering COVID-19, but after getting through security the airport is a dirty mess and random businesses are open, while lounges are closed without any information available online.
Airport is OK. There are bars, shops and sufficient sanitary facilities. Since you now check in online, I cannot assess the manual check-in. I flew cheap Easy-Jet, there the baggage drop is on the ground floor and the baggage check-in is without staff. Works very well. Small monitor explains what to do and how. If necessary, there are employees who help. Security control was well organized, many scanners were open at the same time, so it went quickly. Getting on with the bus is no problem, impatient and pushing fellow travelers are annoying here, but unfortunately you have that everywhere ...
I stayed over night in Feb at this airport and so far pretty good, clean and secure. Price for food and drinks similar to other airport. Stores and restaurants closed 9pm-12am, so if you need to buy some food or drinks then get early. There were not drinking water fountain. Free wifi for 6 hours. At night, operation of airport did not work. Just only security walk around the airport, very quite at night until 3-4a.m. For transportation to center Venezia either bus, water taxi, or train ( take bus to Mestre station, then take train to Saint Lucas). But I found that they have direct boat from Venezia to airport ( and airport to Venezia ) by Alilaguna boat, it cost around 14 , take 1:20 -1:40 depends on where you stay. I stayed at San Marco.
Departure hall is a mess. It's tiny and overcrowded for the airport of this level. Also the food and drinks in buffets are expensive and if you want to sit down for a while, good luck with that.
Yesterday, traveling with a paper identity card, I had to interface with the policeman at the counter rather than with the automated service. I had to deal with one of the most rude and arrogant people never known. Beyond the timing of completion dilated, plus interest and arguing about conversations that did not concern him (I was traveling with my younger daughter who curiously asked what they were for the procedures) felt compelled to mention personal details and loudly residence, then the ear of other passengers. I don't know if the privacy procedure is the correct one. When I asked, given that it is my right, to know his references, he refused to say them and responded with the saccency and arrogance that characterized every breath of that employee that "didn't help and didn't interest me". Convinced of being on "candid camera" I look at her younger colleague, who with kindness and understanding with my eyes invites me to be patient. I traveled around the airports a lot but I've never seen so much rudeness, I don't want to imagine the foolishness that can make us do with the tourists who come to Italy. Such a character, who evidently feels superior to others and authorized to treat people in the face of fish, should work away from the public, possibly in some office. This wants to be an incentive to improve the service.
Good airport as they go, eat before passport check as there is a bigger choice. If going to Venice the water taxi is a good choice as getting to the islands. Really easy to get tickets.
The depature hall is a nice surprise. I consider VCE to be one of the beautiful airports in Europe. The staffs are nice enough. However after you pass that bright hall and get to check-in area things start to get a little unorganized. Long queues block the pathway. Sardine-packed ground transport. Besides, it costs 8 one way to get to/from the city center, quite a unreasonably high price. Google maps says you can catch the bus No. 10, but a cold staff here said "it's nonexistent, it's imaginary" without any further explanation. Well, very Italian. Tips: if you arrive or go not too late, you can take bus No. 15 from Mestre F.S. stazion, ticket 1.5 instead of 8 if you go with the white ATVO bus.
Check-in ... all ok. We arrive at the boarding, the very rude lady tells us that we cannot go up, because we miss the delegation of the police station for my daughter's friend. Ok - since we come from a small village - I will receive it immediately by calling the mother of the friend. The lady at the boarding calls her superior: ok if she arrives by mail we can go up. My friend sends it to me on her cell phone - I show it to the Lady at the boarding. Not her: if we don't receive it on the address I gave you, you can't leave. He calls to have our bags pulled out - accepts people who are "Stand-BY" - all while ignoring that I have the required cards on my cell phone. They leave me with the girls on the ground - then after hours of waiting for luggage etc. - you can see that the address he gave me was WRONG !!!! Then the superior gives me the OK for a new flight - that the day after afternoon, because all the other flights are full. In a nutshell - 2 days lost FOR NOTHING !!! The only ones who were very helpful and very nice were the blonde lady at the LOST BAGGAGE office and the ladies at the ARE flight exchange office! With a little good will it would have worked out - but the lady at the boarding really DID NOT!
Carpisa 120e suitcase ruined at Venice airport.I traveled from Venice to Indonesia for a month and a half via Amsterdam, Kuala Lumpur Jakarta and all in domestic flights in Indonesia including Surabaya, Bali, Timor without any scratch on it. Then you arrive in Venice and Baaam here is your suitcase. Thanks for the professionalism with which you dealt with it. If you arrive in Venice be sure to pack your suitcase with foam at the corners because it will certainly make a nice flight.
No tax exemption procedure matrix (March weekdays). ACTV from Piazzale Roma, have come up with a bus of ATVO. ACTV is the same company as the water bus, as it is possible ride in a single ticket of the water bus, many, not sit stopping point for the city bus. ATVO is, apart from the ticket in the direct bus. I can seat my suitcase and seem to sit down.
Hour and a half delay because not enough bus drivers and loading of luggage delay and thats after two hours of queuing to check in and get through security. Horribly incompetant and inefficient
Too bad not being able to put zero. Today I booked assistance on the Ryan flight to Catania at 2.30 pm because I just operated. I met an employee at 11 at the entrance who parked me in the check-in area. Until 14.25 no one came to pick me up so that I had to do, with serious difficulty, (including the lack of air conditioning and the queue for boarding) all the necessary operations. Now at the time of boarding I see two ENAC operators (those of assistance) intent on chatting with each other at exit 11. You should only be ashamed!
This is the worst airport amongst the ones I've flied with. The security check took us 50 minutes and we missed our flight as the result of the ridiculously slow security check.
Incredibly long lines and confusing directions from airport hospitality staff. Waited in several lines at lengths for international travel security checks only to find the security did not even look at my belongings or passport. Worst airport I have ever visited. Take the train to Rome if you want to fly international. If you are stuck with Venice (Marco Polo), arrive at least 4-5 hours beforehand to be moved around their cattle gates.
Small and cozy. If only it weren't for the often crazy tourists !!! Selfishness and ignorance. .Everyone wants to be the first to check-in and the ground staff is often very busy. SO: THE VERY NORMAL AIRPORT STRESS ...
The worst airport in terms of service. With no exception all the employees, there are the worst you can see anywhere in the world. They are arrogant and crude. The women who man the VAT refund office are the most disrespectful. Absolutely not bothered.I was made to wait for 45 minutes only to he told to go to another counter. And that not politely, but almost screaming.there is nothhing worth mentioning .i hope and pray that i would never have to see them or that airport again. Pathetic.
I fully agree with the review of Naomi Dordolo: scandalous the story of the radar failure as well as the management (indeed, the non-management) of the inconvenience.
Venice Marco Polo Airport (IATA: VCE, ICAO: LIPZ) is the international airport of Venice, Italy ..It is located on the mainland 4.3 nautical miles (8.0 kilometres; 4.9 miles) north of the city in Tessera, a Frazione of the Comune of Venice nearest to Mestre
6 years ago there was the city bus cost 1,50euro. A multitude of free 4 hour parking spaces within walking distance. Today only private shuttles min. 6 euros and free short-term parking for only 10 min. and then 6 euros per hour. Luckily there is no mafia in Veneto !!
This is probably the least helpful airport crew I've ever encountered. The check-in agents had me running around the airport to various kiosks because they, supposedly, couldn't confirm my flight. And the random travel kiosks they sent me to couldn't help me either.
Out of frustration, I ended up calling the airline's customer service center in the U.S. thank goodness for free calls on Google Hangouts! hoping for some help. The customer service rep promptly confirmed my flight and waited on the phone with me to make sure that the check-in agent did his job and finally let me check-in.
So far I have had only positive experiences regarding fast parking (very close to the entrance and free for the first 10 minutes), check-in and document checks (always fast). In particular, the departures terminal, on the first floor, with the beautiful flooring in Classic Gray Trachyte from Montemerlo, from the Euganean Hills of Padua, should be noted.
Airport fairly organized and clean inside especially as regards arrivals. Average staff. The parking lots are the worst part, expensive, chaotic and with free parking too short to the point that the cars stop at the sides of the road to wait ...
It is inhuman to not have water fountains anywhere in the airport. As an adult I can endure, but for my 3 kids all under the age of 7, not being able to have a water fountain is not even fair to animals! Does Venice not like children? Does Venice hate families?
Arrived and departed from Marco Polo airport in June 2014. Arrival experience was great, no delays, immigration officials were good. There were a few options to travel to Piazzale Roma from the airport, there were information desks you could purchase tickets. Nothing to complain about departure either.
Worst airport ever. When we got there our luggage was not there due to being re-routed. We filed a claim at the airport that was somehow magically closed without our consent saying that we picked it up when we never did. The service member that helped my husband never gave him follow up documents about the claim filed and was not helpful at all whatsoever.
When we further followed up both preceding airports before this one confirmed that our luggage was at this airport. Every time I call I always get the run around about where our luggage is. We've been without our luggage for 4 days now in another country.
Just the worst experience/ service ever. I hate this airport, would NOT recommend
The airport is stunning. I flow from here at least 30 times per year at the overall experiences is far better of what I find in the Middle and Far East. As soon as the new terminal will be finished it will be even better.
Security lane needs to be anyway enlarged asap. Connection from and to the city need more boost. Is no uncommon to arrive early in the morning from an overnight flight and no taxis are available.
Luggage delivery can be a pain sometimes. But these is due to the handlers not to the airport.
Very bad service! when i checked in on the flight, every thing was normal until she asked for passports, one passport semmed missing, We stared searching all our bags, to find nothing... we thought one of us is gonna stay here for a couple of days untill is pasport is found, so we almost booked an hotel, Luckly we found the passport in the desk in front of the service womans eyes... when we told her she didn't even say sorry... Trouble service!
Very dispersive, difficult to disentangle in the various floors and in the various gates ... the stairs are missing. Horizontal furniture seen the kilometers to go. Large airports have them
You have a painful staff. Unprepared, rude and unable. When I reported a couple who skipped the line (a very long line) your employee, instead of intervening to call security, said "what can I do about it?". I insisted only on being accused of demanding too much at this point. So I went to the wrong side! But what am I writing to you, so much is beautiful Italy ....
Tanzania was better. twice on two more than an hour late. today almost one hour the duration of boarding, a bus at a time x which was always waiting for the next. scandalous. x junta bus without air conditioning. semvra a fourth world does Venice airport. Dar es salam was more efficient. instead enlarge the runway without increasing the services and better do the opposite. obviously if I can not want more here and the same review will go on google because it is right that the world knows that 4 world and the marco polo airport
Being early in the morning we did not find much confusion, the entrance checks were made to verify that only those with air tickets entered, however the temperature was not measured, for the rest in customs control and at the gates the fair distancing between people.
The upgraded Marco Polo is pretty good, for a small and busy airport - especially the new elevated, enclosed walkway to the water buses and taxis. But I wanted to pay credit to one of the water taxi booking agents there - Agenzia Bucintoro. We had pre-booked a return ticket to coincide with our arriving and departing flights. It's a long story, but we missed our scheduled arrival, getting there instead the next morning. We felt certain our outbound voucher would be rejected, but the charming bloke on the Bucintoro desk immediately issued a new voucher without any fuss, and the water taxi driver was waiting for us when we got to the landing stage. Better still, although we had booked a shared water taxi both ways, we in fact had exclusive use both times, giving us a George & Amal Clooney experience! Grazie Mille, Agenzia Bucintoro!
