It is difficult to understand the bus stop for the main island of Venice.
Crowded already at 4 am, little security, very slow check-ins.
Alitalia flight VCE - FCO departing scheduled for 16:25, delay until 17:18 for "too much traffic in Fiumicino".
Be careful to put soft suitcases in the hold in any case (Ribbon theft cases have already been detected before boarding)
Light modern and airy. Everything is still closed tho.
Airport taxi s ripping people off 26 to go 4km. He charged for having bags. Avoid
Apart of overpriced food and drink everything is good
A small, clean and beautiful airport. The only flaw is that if the number of passport control counters makes 3-4 flights at the same time, then you can wait 2 hours.
Small airport but surprisingly very modern and well run.
The place is clean and very well maintained. Also the architecture and decoration are surprisingly very nice. It is much better than Verona airport for example.
The duty free shops are ridiculously overpriced but this seems to be a feature of the small Italian airports.
Turned out Aer Lingus is on the bottom floor - unlike all (?) the other airlines. Long line. Then speed through security until just before they actually check your luggage and then wait. And wait. Then speed. Then hit passport control. Wait. Wait. Agents spend entire time at desk talking to each other and barely glance at me.
Now waiting at gate .... Pleasant enough. Bring herded like cattle .... never fun.
Such a awful experience at this airport, check in was a long and horrible, the staff were rude and very unorganised!
Embarrassing, poorly managed airport and regularly under-paid. On average 1 hour of delay on all flights for disorganization as confirmed by Volotea staff and other carriers. "Venetian" management example ... save, actv ... Etc ..
Organized and modern airport. The controls, the check-in and the embargo very fast and comfortable. They have restructured it very well; traveling from Venice Marco Polo Airport is worth it.
Airport which allows to reach Venice by boat, it is not frequent to take a treadmill of the terminal and of arrival to a pier of maritime line ... too nice the arrival on Venice ...
excellent airport and also for its services !!!!
CONGRATULATIONS
A very bad and inefficient work by the check-in desks
A small, unfriendly international airport does not make the traveler feel comfortable like everything in Venice
Eat before check-in, great food and good service even today that there is a strike.
One of the worst modern airports I know.
Confusing directions and stratospheric parking rates. The minimum is 6.50 euros for one hour. No comment! And if you make a mistake, you risk ending up in parking lots at a daily rate ... and there is trouble ...
Internal services are at a minimum wage and cleaning, especially in the beams, is not really at home.
The airport itself is fine, indeed very well. the big problem that deserves 1 star goes for the management of cars, the revenue to bring passengers, to take them from the flights, the organization of parking is inefficient and absurd, never seen a disaster like this, very high prices, 6.50 for 10 minutes? I do not know who thought it but it must have had a bad day, too bad you can not put less than a star ... I reply with regards to the observation received I suppose by the managers. In all airports there is the possibility to take and leave the passengers of the flights without having to enter the parking lot and this puts in trouble anyone who has an unexpected event because the famous 10 minutes you are paying a very high price for not using no service. Leaving aside the cost factor, the functionality of the concept is undoubtedly to the detriment of the user, leaving the passengers in the rain because there is no form of access to the access sheds to the airport !!! To conclude, I am willing to pay always and when it is justified by the service I receive that in this case is questionable.
On Ist July it was very quiet hence check in smooth and orderly , only marginally longer than usual. Most airport shops closed and fewer refreshment options. General impression : good.
Easy to navigate but your faced with long queues both inside and out (at the public transport options). Luggage also faces a rather brutal drop onto the carousel when arriving.
Clean airport, beautiful architecture. Especially the lobby waterfall
If you want to take a boat ride. A.B. or R. You can buy ticker after exit the luggage claim and there are counter to buy the ticket. After that go up 1 floor and go the left side where there are escalator. After 10 mins walk you turn left and see all the boats. Just find your boat.
Very busy and unclear, so I almost missed my plane. Different floors and no service at all.
Well organized small airport. Maybe sometimes a little dirty in the waiting area boarding.
The security check after check in is an absolute nightmare. It took us 40 minutes to get through security with the rest of the passengers where they treat everyone like cattle. Way too may passengers allowed into the same restricted area. The restaurant areas after check in is so overcrowded that getting a seat for 4 people was basically impossible. I have been to a large number of airports and this one rates very poorly in terms of security procedures and otber seating at restaurants.
The airport is awful, the timetable is terribly arranged. A lot of flight was not on time but the passengers can not be updated. The worst is that there is no information desk at the airport. When it comes to a problem, no one was in charge at the gate. So the passengers can do nothing but awaiting.
Beautiful spacious airport. But bring a lot of time!
Huge line ups. Clean facilities & washrooms. Give yourself allot of extra time.
Wifi!!! Have you got Wi-Fi! And at least I use it A LOT OF NON STOP TIME. After half disorganized everything. Not well signposted but asking do you manage
Broken and lost baggage. No assistance to solve the problem. Nobody answers the phone or emails
I leave Verona to come to work. What can I say: it is the Veneto airport. The most
No attention to the anti Covid-19 prescriptions. Shameful for an airport like that of Venice!
Greedy airport if you are any race other then Italian, they charge for luggage for all airlines. Easy Jet employees are the worst.
Poor indoor and outdoor directions, unfit seating, poor air conditioning, delays on arriving and departing flights.
--------
In response:
The indications both inside and outside are nebulous and lacking. Above all inside the paths are extremely conditioned by the layout of the shops rather than by the usability of the site by the users.
Delays on the flight are not attributable to the airport, but the conditions in which it is expected yes. Few seats, inefficient air conditioning system.
I have read in other answers that the inefficiencies are attributed to external companies or companies. That may be true, but if I find myself at Venice airport and find a disservice it is normal for me to go to the airport. It should be the airport management who then claims those responsible for the outages.
Horrible customs ... Unfriendly staff, aggressive limit, no hello, no thank you, ... queue where people behind end up passing well before .... Bad experience.
The only airport without waiting area, force you to enter the parking lots that after 10 minutes pay 10 euros !! I left the short stop 1 minute late because the parking lot was jammed and I had to pay 6.50 euros! For 1 minute! And there was also the bar clerk who, instead of understanding the situation, made me drive back, blocking other cars that were already lined up behind me. Shameful.
I've visited this airport a few times and had always a bad experience. Exhausting queues at the border police to get the passport checked on landing and same queues at the security check on departure. Staff and airport itself is not organised well at all, there have been always maintenance/renovation work going on while I visited. There's a lack of signposts, for example the security has been moved around a few times and it's never clear where to go.
I'm so glad that Ryanair is flying to Treviso Airport now as I've never been delayed since. All I can say, stay away from Venice airport and fly to Treviso instead, you won't encounter any delays or hassle there.
Nice airport but a unique disorganization. Long waits on the bus and zero distances
Great location
Great transportation links
Great selection of food and beverages
Good level of service from the staff
Feeling very good, the customs is also very cordial and calm, the efficiency of the work is much higher than expected, the airport is not big, but the water taxi is impressive.
A decent airport although it lack some of those interesting shops.
Recently renovated. Well organized and well kept. Despite having traveled in August all boarding, disembarking procedures etc. they went well and on schedule.
The worst airport in the world. Just past customs after disembarking the plane, waiting time of over 1h30 ......... incredible.
No air conditioning no ventilation and it takes incredible heat.
Several planes at the same time and how many customs counters ......... a big total of 6
Seriously, having traveled almost all over the world, I have never seen such slowness.
Sorry but a board in front of the parking lot to find out how much you spend noooo!
I have recently visited the Venice airport to catch a Qatar airways flight to Doha. It is a nicely organized airport, but too much people around with huge queues and it is very difficult to find a seating place. There are lots of food options and nice architecture. There is also a big duty free shop after you cross security. The people are very helpful and cordial as well. But be aware that in Italy, on Friday's there is always a chance of strike by air personnel. When I visited, there was a strike which fortunately was for four hours only. So except for the strike issue, everything appeared fine to me. One more point is that local transport is a bit costly, for a 15 minute ride to Mestre station, paying 8 euro is too much.
Nice airport with a good Bistro Santa Cristina on the upper floor.
Airport is much too small for the number of passengers it handles. I d opt for Treviso anytime.
In this period there are works in progress, but a well-organized example
The airport is very nice and the waiting times for the security check are definitely in line with the best European airports.
It always leaves something to be desired as regards the waiting time on board the shuttle once you have passed the gate. On June 22 we were stopped for 40 minutes waiting to be accompanied from the airport to the airport without being given any explanation.
Also on Tuesday 10th July 2018, after passing the gate, we were on the shuttle for about 20 minutes !!!! Honestly unacceptable for a ground service that should have the same quality as the others.
Too slow passport control. Beginning from 13:30 quantity of working passport control windows decreased to 1. Number of passengers over 500. We are waiting on queue around 2 hours.
How long is the Marco Polo airport from Bologna to Venice?
Waited for 1 hour in the bus on the tarmac after landing.
Nicely renovated and well organized. Excellent airport probably one of the best in Italy. Too bad that calling for a business room several times never managed to provide one and I had to opt for a nearby hotel room.
Well the airport in general but ground staff of companies such as the low low price Easy Jet service is unprofessional, incapable of being rational and safe but at the same time kind as it would be appropriate. Waiters at the various casinos and not very professional bars compared to those that can be found in other Italian airports or in the more renowned European airports. Low profile staff.
Very well organized and clean, order for departures and good food
Bad organization, bad information, jams at the boarding gates, disgusting in a nutshell. It will take a long time to return if I return. Stuck 3 hours in a small airport, without capacity for everything they want to cover. And don't even think about asking anyone other than your flight. The lady of the company of Condor a very careful edge (for being polite and not saying something louder) with shouting in perfect Castilian yes! I had enough. The lady from flight DE 1559 at gate 12 on September 14, 2018.
It is a small international airport, and everything is very close, it is reached by bus with line 19, from the Piazza de Roma which is the point of Venice where you can reach all destinations, or by boat with more stops but something more expensive . The posters are easy to understand to get in and out.
Love venice....but.....No "people mover" ? Was 90 degrees and humiid had to walk with all or bags 1/4 mile to water taxi. Rental Car return is insane. No attendant. No receipts. Returned sixt car from munch. They did not have the car in the computer so they could not give us a receipt. They just took the keys and scribbled the date. No gas stations that accept credit cards. No attendants on Saturday. Went to three. The single machine for all the pumps only takes cash if your tank is full no change. Smallest bill is 5 euro and it takes like 5 min to process each transaction. The system is called Caps. Crazy. Its like they are ratio img the fuel.
Seats largely insufficient, it is impossible to reach the helpp neatly because it is placed in the middle of the transit of the whole user. Food and water predictably in gold weight, the sound of the speakers is not heard and is confused.
Everyone there polite enough. All went fast and proficiently. Fair selection of shops and coffee bars. Good access .
A large airport with very good restaurants but very expensive everything, they also have small shopping center to buy a large duty free, an airport is very well organized very clean and well signposted.
For a year now, baggage reclaim with any airline from 20 to 45 minutes, even in this period when a plane lands every hour or so
Departure was very poorly organized. The gates are small, there are a lot of people - a crush and confusion. Be very careful, download the mobile application of your airline (so that the scoreboard is at hand), arrive early (it is better before you miss your flight). If you have met all the conditions, there will be no problems (you knock a little and everything will be ok) The problem with the airport is that it is small and not designed for such crowds of tourists.
I state that I do not fly a lot and that I do not have sufficient terms of comparison with other airports, but I can say that whenever I left or arrived at the Marco Polo I was always fine: good with logistics, good with the times, with the information, with snacks, etc. It therefore seems to me that it is a worthy airport in Venice.
One of the least organized boarding procedure ever witnessed. Extremely unpleasant and incapable staff. The "speed" of boarding was astonishing. 0/10 would not recommend
Modern and functional structure, it has been subject to updates in recent times. Virtually everything you need is on the top floor of the terminal, which is not very large and has fairly clear signs. Good functioning of security checks.
There could be some more attention regarding the social distancing inside the buses that, once through the gate, lead to the aircraft ... Better to take a few more rides.
Expensive parking and guaranteed free transit for only 7 minutes.
