Very well connected by bus and taxi with the central station. Small airport that offers many destinations and airlines.

Well organized airport, never excessive queues and excellent parking

Safety checks usually quite quick
Confused boarding area with few chairs

At peak times and fair days taking a taxi requires very long waits
Boarding with fake fingers is embarrassing

Medium-sized airport, departures for both national and international locations. The Aerobus shuttle service is good to the central station and the center every 20 minutes until half past midnight. In addition to a few restaurants, bars and shops, there is also a supermarket. Too bad that unlike other domestic airports there are few shops and no shops with discounted duty free tax rates.

Today Friday 2 March I had to leave for Cagliari at 10-30 am the flight was canceled like many others (but not all of them, and this is the curious thing)
but the reason was that the Bologna airport today did not have the possibility of making the wing defrost due to the lack of the product.

For reasons of my flight schedule, I spent the night at the airport and I must say that it's not so bad. There is a rest area with chaise longue (ten) available for free, and monitoring method is in control, so you can sleep peacefully.
Council: the restaurant services close at midnight and reopen at 4:30 or so, so if you have to spend the night at the airport, equip yourself with the necessary first. In any case there are distributors of drinks and active snacks 24 / 24H.

Avoid if possibile. Nothing works! Check in: waiting time at least one hours. Baggage claim: waiting time min 30 min. Then if you need a taxi good luck...youre gonna probably stand for another hour. It s a shame for a modern country

insufficient space at the gates for those who have to wait for boarding

The WORST airport i have ever been in Italy! They are NOT prepared for international passengers at all. Staff doesn't speak english and gets mad when you don't reply to their italian shouting (!!?). The bathrooms at the departure hall were disgusting, not cleaned for hours i am sure (pee all over the floor, lack of paper and so on). Fly to other closeby airport! Pisa and Florence are way better prepared!!!

40 minutes late because on December 28 at 14:00 there was not enough personnel to reverse the plane! This is always the case and I don't understand why airport managers should never answer for serious structural and organizational deficiencies !!!

Visited during Covid. Minimal precautionary measures and only before checks. All kinds of gatherings at the gate.

If there was a train at the airport station it wouldn't be bad

Car parks too expensive. Catering at fair prices and good quality. Service staff not very kind. Unclean bathrooms. Free Wi-Fi service is not working! Possibility to reach the airport from the Bologna train station with shuttle not in operation from midnight to 5 am. Taxis are around 20 euros. There would be the People mover service, a train that connects in 7 minutes to 8.50; He was to start operating in March 2019 but still has not been tested ... so everything is ready but remains unusable!

Welcoming female staff on arrival, small terminal though so feels quite crowded. Grumpiest passport control I've ever experienced when leaving (and yes I was polite/spoke Italian!) No airbridges so you have to walk outside/bus it to the aircraft/terminal, though in Italian weather that's ok most of the time! No train service even though the line runs quite close, just bus and taxi. Man singing opera in the toilets on arrival was a bonus though :)

Huge queue. Only 2 out of 10 security counter open even though there were like 5-6 flights at that time (6-7am)

Business lounge is out of the terminal (before security check) so you can't even enjoy your benefits. Forget about fast track too

Airport a bit small and underpowered due to the large traffic of flights there. Few boarding gates, all hit the spot. Few chairs to wait for your flight, wifi a bit iffy. Quick security checks despite the long queue to get there. Connection with the center carried out by the Aerobus: ticket cost 6 (the same ticket also allows the use of other buses), journey time about 25/30 minutes.

Sorry to say, but it's one of the worst airports I've ever seen, and I've seen quite a few. Disorganized, few services, bad connections with the city, slow luggage on arrival, dirty toilets, few shops (and the food ones are monopolized or almost), no possibility to throw the water at the security checks (they send you out and have them redo the line!) ... Not to mention the chaos outside, where no one enforces a rule that is one, the wheel has always been full of people parked ...

At first, when I saw the massive line at security, I was ready to explode in my too familiar anger outburst. However, when we checked our luggage with Air France they kept repeating with that suave European accent, Just go to the business lounge.

Queues for checks that arrive in the middle of public spaces, no smoking area after security checks, but above all things and infinite expectations to get your bags back. Despite having traveled far and wide around the world both as a tourist but also as a general aviation pilot, it remains my favorite airport.

This very small airport got worse throughout the years. Despite the new automated security checks that allow people to flow faster through security, every other service is grossly undersized compared to the airport capacity. Particularly outraging is the amount of seats available at gates, which is incredibly scarce: it is clear that the limited space was allocated to stores rather than seats, because the first provide profit to the airport. The lack of seats also forces travelers to wander around the duty free shops, inflating their gains. Long lines of people form at the side of gates, squished between shops. The bathrooms should definitely be cleaned more often, since the smell is intense. The overall experience especially if your flight was delayed, which was my case recently is close to a nightmare.
This saddens me, since Bologna is my hometown, but they can t keep trying to reap profits without investing in customer care.

The key issue is that the airport is small and crowded. After the security check the retail / restaurant area easily gets packed and sometimes there is sorely not enough places to sit.

I got fast track on my ticket but the staff pointed me to a normal line for the security checkpoints.. The business lounge also hard to find. I saw the line outside the of the checkpoints and I did followed it then I just lost. Usually it s after the security, I was so confused.. and never found it after that. Some of the securities were nice but next time I ll go different airport.
