Very improved, but still impractical.
Inside it is much nicer than a few years ago, but it is very full and the signage useful for going to the different areas is thus less striking than normal.
The shops are very beautiful and welcoming.
The airport staff is very kind.
Convenient shuttle to and from the train station, but a direct connection by metro or rail would be really useful.
Very unsatisfactory management of arrival by car, especially if accompanied. The result is a very strong mess and little practicality in unloading and loading passengers.
There are no connecting fingers.

Who gives top marks to this airport probably he has never traveled.
Of insufficient size for the volume of moviemntato passengers (we are now talking about 10 million / year) it was renewed a few years ago by adding only some shops. Instead, the logistical part concerning boarding, is at least indecent, now it is the only airport to the way not to have jetways to connect the terminal directly to the plane. So the transfer is done by bus, where if you have priority boarding, travel together with everyone, get on board with a ladder so many times not covered and who cares if it maybe rains. Furthermore access from the terminal to the bus is via stairs, therefore difficult for those traveling with hand luggage. The arrival is not so much better: the bus unloads you in front of the doors where you enter the baggage restitution area with long or very long waits at the baggage claim belts.
The available space between the gate is minimal, so people are forced to huddle. We are not talking about gates with Ryanair flights, with people standing in rows sitting on the ground, blocking the passage of other passengers.
Externally, there are numerous parking lots with very high prices, to park at a lower cost it is necessary to go to peripheral parking areas with shuttle service. For some years they have been working on a connection service via train with the train station but it is still not in service.
A pity, because the location would be excellent for a large catchment area in the region and for neighboring regions.

Small structure not suitable for that amount of traffic. The arrival was very uncomfortable. Minimal spaces to the gates seems to be the toy airport. Mileage row at the controls, arrive early or risk missing your flight. Restaurant quality bars bad Wi-Fi almost always clogged and slow. I think they should seriously start thinking about moving and enlarging it given the amount of traffic.

Dear Bologna airport, I am happy that you are growing and giving us more connections but if you do not adapt the arrivals you risk to implode.
The passport control funnel, the promiscuous rows, the very slow electronic gates and, last but not least, the 60 minutes (FLIGHT EK93 of 23.2.18) waiting to land to collect the baggage I don't think are found in the rest of the northern hemisphere

Uncomfortable and disorganized, this creates continuous chaos and congestion everywhere. The airport is growing a little at random, like a beehive. New gates are popping up, shops where they are not needed and there is nothing but a sense of confusion. It's small but it succeeds. Some parts are new, others very old. Security checks are managed to generate long queues. The prices in the shops are very high. To eat you have to sell yourself a kidney, and with this you also lack kindness. So they wouldn't even thank you.

I use this airports a lot for work. One of the rare airports that has security checks from A to I but has a single funnel entrance queue, if you fly in the morning, arrive at the airport very early because the queue is really long and very badly managed. The turnstiles open at 4.30 and only around 5 do they open more security doors. In 2020, funnel entry is not acceptable, even to think of it.

To be one of the biggest airports in Italy it is the worst I have saw.
The toilets stinks! Employees (from the retailer to the customer service) are rude and would do everything to steal something from you. It seem as they train them to fight and win customers instead of helping. But they swear it s the government fault if no one investe in the country. They seem bulldog with authority while they are basic customer service!
My 2 worst experience was with Ryan air, who told me that my bag was weighed while checking in with the security, but wouldn t tell me the weight. Who gave them the permission to weigh my bag instead of checking creams and gun?
The other one was with a car rental desk telling me that my booking was taken off the system because my flight was late.
These people would do everything to make you feel as they own you physically and have power on you! The humiliation... while they supposed to be customers Service who should help.
I will definitely advise to not get any service from them. Land and get off! And when you feel they want to steal or abuse yoo, they do! Argue your case and get evidence to sue them or complain ( in another country ).

Dropping of someone at the kiss&fly should be free for the first 10 minutes (according to the road signs), however after leaving the area after only 6 minutes I had to pay 10 euros (!). It was very busy and with multiple cars behind me there was no way to leave the line and find someone to fix it. The roundabout just before accessing the kiss&fly is full of parked cars, I guess this must be the reason.

The shops available inside are different, there is Furla, carpisa, the usual perfumery / alcohol sales. They have also opened a prized vinegar shop boh who knows if someone buys something! The prices for eating are high (a sandwich with mortadella 6.5 euros!) But I think it's normal at an airport.
