Accor (Mercure Wellington) Review

Well, i was going to give them 3 stars as it's not their fault that their hotel is so noisy from all the road works near by and thin walls (my daughter couldn't even sleep because of someone typing loudly on their laptop last night!!), hearing others talking etc. But then they never came to give fresh towels or make our beds, so we then thought it was because we didn't put out our "make our room up" sign outside our door. So i washed our cups (there was no detergent), and made do then put out the sign. Got back and nothing was done so called reception and was told to collect fresh towels. My husband was told we should have read a note (we saw no note) in the room stating that we had to request our room clean up at reception. We should have been told this when we checked in!! We never saw any note because we just came in and went on with our holiday as you do. Quite dissappointed. Happy to support NewZealand buisnesses but don't state service departments if they are NOT SERVICED!!

Good location, clean bathroom and kitchen.
But old stain carpet, curtain and sofa in the living room. Dirty dusty windows. I stayed on the 5th floor. The view was only Car Parking buildings. Plus noisy at night time. I won t stay again.

Fabulous new interior, very warm and welcoming staff where nothing is too much trouble. We had several meals in the new restaurant and couldn't be more delighted with the quality. Definitely worth the stay.

Nice apartment style hotel. Clean and comfortable. Nice harbour views. The rooms are a little tired

Clean, great welcoming staff.
Right in the middle of shops, bars, restaurants ect.
We stayed on the 8 th floor, street noise ok...its a city.
Needs a tart up but that's happening this year...these things take time. Comfee bed, warm rooms, awesome hot pressure shower.

Location Location Location...In the heart of Wellington. Serviced apartments so don't expect room service however there is a convenient store across the road and a Macdonalds. I would rate it a 3 star hotel but gave it a 4 star rating due to it's central location. I had minimum contact with staff but when I did they were friendly and helpful. The room at first viewing seemed like a shoebox and it was a little scary standing on the balcony for the first time as it was not solid but a sheet metal with holes. However after the first day the room seemed big enough and the balcony solid enough. Welington is a windy city but I loved my stay. The photo's attached is the view from our room.

Had a nice room on the 15th floor. Tv video quality not very good. Screens small and too high up. Otherwise a nice stay. Thanks!

OK but a bit noisy. Some weird features in room like the sliding bathroom doors that want to trap your fingers, and the couch cunningly placed to trip u at night.

Placement is awesome, right in the centre of town. Nicely sized room with lots of windows (ventilation!). Staff were nice and accomidating too!

The most relaxing hotel. Beautiful soft bed and pillows. Very helpful friend,you staff.

Room was ok but tv really small Room very noisy Shower old everything needs updating Not what you see in the advert Only view was brick walls. Location is perfect

I was very pleased with this hotel. Check-in was a breeze with a very nice front desk lady. Since my partner was here taking an exam, I requested a quiet room and was happy with what we were given. We were on the 12th floor, away from the elevator and only next to one other room. The room itself was exactly what we needed and was great value for the price. We had a partial view of the water, were able to partially open the windows for fresh air, had a mini fridge and microwave, a very strong shower head, basic toiletries, free internet, a comfy couch, tv with basic channels, coffee, and a cookie. I like cookies. Also the location is fabulous! Yes the walls are a bit scuffed but that doesn't bother us at all. If you want perfection, then pay for it. If you want a great value, stay here.

The service was friendly no matter who was on the front desk. We had an issue with the shower door that was tended to quickly. The room was quite dated, the bathroom door banged constantly due to the open exhaust fan in the bathroom wall and the room was really noisy when the wind hit. This could have been made worse being on the 16th (top) floor.

Don't let the previous put you off. For the price, it is comfortable and in a central walking location for the cafes, shops and waterfront attractions.

Would stay there again.

We had a marvelous weekend, and we will do it again. .

Great Location, tied apartment, blind in kitchen didn t work, hairdryer on wall In bathroom didn t work, bedroom door didn t shut, lots of marks on walls. Apartment serviced at around 4pm not so great when you have been out all day. Not good value for money and noisy

I found the experience at the Mercure Hotel excellent staff friendly location on Victoria Street handy to everything for shopping

Room very small. Building is very wind blown. Water leak in room. Wi-Fi a bit weak. Entry difficult to spot when driving and no parking or driveway.

A little tired and the lack of it's own restaurant was an inconvenience

A little over priced for what you get I think.. Small T.Vs, no sink in the kitchen area or any mini-bar. Old bathroom could do with a make over paint coming off walls etc. Room quite noisy, can here water pumps or something running quite often through the walls..
On the positive nice staff, big comfy bed and good views.
Overall not bad just don't think it's worth what they charge.

If you have a vehicle this is not the place to stay. Incredibly hard to access and there is no parking to access the hotel. I couldn't get a park and had to go somewhere else yet they still charged me. Don't waste your time here

Very disappointing, decor is dated, paint peeling and our sleep was disturbed by the horrendous noise (staff said it was students partying, I know they can't control this but if the place was double glazed it would reduce noise).
Room was uncomfortably warm - no air-conditioning and opening a window only made the noise worse.

Location good, in need of a major update, rooms tiny, balcony unfit. Urine stains on the couch. Had to put the comforter off the bed on it to sit down on the couch, TV off centre on the wall . Kitchenette is all ette.

Great hotel pleasant staff very helpful bags brought up to the room upgrade from the forth floor to the 13th floor front room facing the waterfront able to see the fireworks for the Chinese new year this weekend February everything within walking distance awesome weather not to hot lite breeze .a pleasant say here in Wellington.

Located in the heart of Wellington CBD, overlooking the harbour .... the room was chic and comfortable.

Very convenient location. Easy access to everywhere within the city.
Hotel rates & amenities balance is tip top. Spacious & cosy no frill room.
A vey enjoyable 2 nights stay.

Great hotel in a great location! The staff were very friendly. Paid $104 for a 1 bedroom suite. Very happy with the modern decor and the room was clean and welcoming. Bed super comfy and we were pleasantly surprised to have a harbour view for such a low price :-)

Nice convienient location. Rooms could use a bit of a renovation however. They are looking pretty tired.

The room was nice and spacious, very central to everything and staff were friendly, nice views.However the rooms are not serviced each day so you have to go to reception if you want any amenities filled or your room cleaned. Wall heater was falling off the wall and 1 of our tvs did not work, you have to get reception to come open your balcony door as it s locked unless requested. When we stayed 6 nights we had our apartment fully serviced 1 time and it was only half serviced. Overall the room was nice but there were issues elsewhere.

Great location and clean. Bit sad and dated. Still good value for money though.

Grubby, freezing cold, tiny loud fan heater, no restaurant, no pool, just horrid, hated every minute of it.

No towels, no soap, half a roll of left over toilet paper, dirty windows, damp windows on the inside, cracks on the walls, stains on the carpet, cheap bed and mattress. Small tiny room, very disappointing

Noisy with rubbish/recycling (glass bottles clanking) in alleyway late at night and early in the morning, and a very noisy pub nearby. Bed average, lumpy pillow, synthetic blankets, sheets were cotton. Wifi didn t work (error), asked twice for assistance, no fix provided. Room servicing during the day was good, clean and tidy. Sleep is important to me and I didn t get much due to the noise, would not stay here again.

Great location, building a bit run down with very limited amenity. A lot of street noise makes it hard to sleep.

Could be better. Room had not enough furniture for all of us and all the dishes were dirty.

This hotel is defiantly not a 4 Hotel! Hardly 2 ! Not recommended!

HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE! I have been client of Accor and Mercure for years and they disregard it when I need to make one cancelation! Fully charged when never used the premises! A genuine mistake , would be able to be in Wellington , the manager of the Hotel would not appreciate a long term client and didn't even try to help. I called on the very early morning so they could have the chance to put another guest in if it was the excuse to charge.I would never RECCOMEND AGAIN THIS HOTEL AND CHAIN, obviously they don't care about fidelity towards clients.TRULLY DISAPPOINTED!

Location is close to almost every spot in town, and the room was clean and comfy.

Whilst I had a lovely view of harbour being in 15th floor, the walls were paper thin and was kept up all night by lift going up and down. When wind really blew the room shook and got really hot like glass house when sun shone. Original booking was 12 days I lasted 2.

Well situated for shops and cafes. The room is adequate.

It was basic but clean and tidy and had everything I needed. Close to everything in the city - I walked everywhere and was only at the hotel at night

Spent two nights in this lovely accommoda tion! Great location and very neat rooms. Service was excellent! Panav was extremely helpful and efficient

My room didn't have a pleasant view, there were empty bottles, cigarette buts, and used tissues outside the window. Had to keep my curtains drawn through out my stay.

Lovely serviced apartments and rooms, well appointed, centrally located with some of Wellingtons best eats and drinks on it's doorstep. Complementary access to Les Mills gym was nice bonus.

Nice place to stay in walking distance to many of the attractions on offer in wellington.

Smell in lift & corridor from long term tenants cooking. Toilet seat wouldn't stay up for a Male. Comfortable bed.

Central to I night out at the Michael Fowler Center. Room okay , very noisy in the early hours with rubbish trucks and bottles been collected. Milk potties in fridge were old, as they curdled the coffee. Great pressure in the shower. and room was clean. Would stay again if need be . Reception desk very pleasant.

Love your Receptionists, Alana and Alex, however - truly the best assets of the hotel.

The room was badly design set of were thing were was silly .TLC repaint doors spots of wrong color wall in bath TLC need .

3.8 stars. Very good reception service. Nice decor. Very clean. Only single glazing. Lots of street noise on our Saturday night there.

Central location, comfortable and well equipped rooms and the staff were extremely helpful, knowledgeable and friendly. Highly recommend!

Booked a 2 bed apartment but were given two single room apartments instead. Could hear the lift all night and day. Windows - latches broken so Didnt seal shut making it even noisier inside. Curtains were too small for the windows, bathroom had walk in shower but when used, water ran everywhere in bathroom as slow draining down plug hole. Carpet and furniture very stained.... only upside was close to city

Good room and price, but had trouble inviting a visitor into our room.

Good value, but certainly on the lower end of a hotel experience. Limited amenities, phone bit working, aging decor.

Very very disapointed in the standard of rooms. First room had mould in bathroom, lounge room and bedroom. Photos taken and moved to another room, nothing like in website photos

Big room (suite) but a bit scruffy. Bathroom large but scruffy. Could use some renovation

The place is falling apart. Windows don t seal. Very noisy. Minimal amenities. Cushions on the couches / couch dirty. The faucet in the bathroom was practically off. Awkward location. Wouldn t recommend.
