A fascinating museum located near the Franklin Institute and not far from the Philadelphia Museum of Art. This is a very family-friendly environment. Cool gift shop. Cheerful staff.

Very lovely place to visit when you are in Philly. Love it.

My fiance and I went to the museum.for the shell show.last weekend..we.explored.the.rest of the museum.which was mediocre and maybe ok for small kids. I decided to venture up into the Outside In room on the 3rd floor. They have a white rat that is kept in a small tank. It has a plastic house to sleep in and a cardboard house and that's it. No toys nothing. This disturbed me greatly because I have owned rats before. They are very intelligent animals and need stimulation and a larger housing cage or tank. They are.also pack animals and need to have at least one other playmate. This is very cruel. I tried contacting the museum with no response. Very unprofessional!!!

It's ok. Kids like the dinosaurs, but the museum as a whole could use a makeover.

Decent place and exhibits for a fun time with friends or even a date. The gift store is expensive though. If you really want a souvenir, you've been warned. Last time I went, we went during college fest. Which during college fest you'll get a free bus ride to any of the museum's, but you still have to pay for the admissions. My friends and I went for the butterfly and dinosaur exhibit. Kinda sad I missed out on the Pixar one. You are allowed to use your camera or GoPro. Definitely a great place for the kids too!

My son attends Agora Cyber Charter, it was back to school night. It was wonderful. We truly enjoyed ourselves

They can play, learn, watch the shows.
Easy Accessable from Septa train, buses.

Who dosen't love dinosaurs?? I know I do..

Pros: they have a bunch of dinosaur skeletons, an exhibition that explains how to make dioramas, and a shell show.
Cons: it's basically a kindergarten. No, seriously. Everything is organized for kids, especially when it comes to dinosaurs, and, of course, kids are everywhere, screaming as usual. So be prepared. Free shells are for kids only. Also they mention that they have items from Thomas Jefferson's collection or those collected by Lewis and Clark, but you'll never see any sign on any item that says it's from these collections. I wish they had it.

Outstanding place, a lot of cool, enriching thing as to do with the kids, although a lot for adults too.

Amazing experience at the Academy of Natural Sciences of Drexel University. This is the one that came highly recommended from the locals and we could see why. Superb exhibitions and my daughter, 14 at the time, loved it. This was a highlight for us. We had a wonderful visit and toured as many museums as we could in 4-5 days.

My 1.5 year old loved the animated dinosaur and the indoor sandbox upstairs!

I love this place. I've been there many times as a child , but nothing compares to the same experience as an adult. I continue to love science and all it has to offer. Now my children and grand children can enjoy these same experiences that I did.

You can spend a lot of hours in this museum! It's great. The Dino's inside and outside are interesting!

Loved my last visit and learned about the process the fossils are put through before they are showcased.

Great place to visit with kids, some libraries have free pass so you can utilize it.

This is a little pricey but definitely worth visiting

A great day of family fun. Some of the taxidermy exibits were a little dusty, or I would have given it 5 stars. The live animal presentation was great! Butterfly room is cool, too.

Great for a morning or afternoon - pretty small, good size for a half day. Dinosaurs and animals were a big hit with our 4 and 2.5 year olds. Not quite the new york natural history museum, but really good for what it is

So many things to do and see. My Godson had a blast.

Great museum. Always a great scene for young and old. The live butterfly exhibit is amazing. The current bug-fest is just awesome. Very well done.

Interesting museum with dioramas of animals and science related exhibits. Many exhibits are made for children.

Had an awesome dinosaur exhibit for dinos after dark. Took my four year old and he loved it.

Great atmosphere but not alot of stuff to entertain the kids

The butterfly exhibit was a delight for thw warmth and variety in frigid January.

This place is amazing I took my granddaughter to go see the Frog exhibit. And I found myself to be in all of all the things that are there. Great place to go

I had a very good time, plenty of history to see and a great place for kids.

It's amazing place and provide for family fun in 3 floor. There's a lot of activites such as The Big Dig in 2 floor. It has good map description. Also, I am so enjoy since I visit dinosaurs exhibits. There's fantastic area for children to experience the digital dinosaurs with action of moviem I can't explain more. I recommend you to visit The Academy of Natural Sciences of Drexel University if your family is plan to go Philadelphia. This is good for family to visit museum with kids activities area.

They somone times have deals where it's free on Sunday but still worth the money

So busy and not super organized, but has a lot of items for the kids to watch

The displays were laid out with adequate ruin to view and browse the exhibits. If you've ever been to a museum where it's all packed and stuff, you know what I'm talking about. This was just laid out incredibly nicely!

LOVED their Dinosaur's UNEARTHed exhibit. Also great shell collection. Don't forget to go to the top floor to touch some amazing creatures.

Look out for popular hours on weekends, could be crowded. Great place for visit with whole familiy.

Fantastic place, a perfection in the details! Excellent taxidermy work. You are admiring the animals in their habitats as alive !!!!

Beauty is done in 2 hours max if you take your time really long

Great museum in the heart of philadelphia. Went with my daughters, 6, 9, 14. Perfect for younger kids especially the dinosaur exhibit. We loved the butterfly garden and got some great shots of these magical creatures.

Some of the stuff they have there is really old but in great condition. It was wonderful to visit.

Great place to spend an afternoon. The exhibits are nice and interactive. The dinosaur fossils are a great experience.

Love love love this place!! Super interesting and small enough that you won't feel overwhelmed or guilty about really taking your time to read through everything. They have wonderful after hours programming as well. I think dino drafts is probably the most popular, but there's others as well! Best dino museum I've ever been to (and it isnt JUST dinosaurs there!)

Lots of fun and learning for kids, butterfly section is cool. They have great collection of live small animals, bugs, insects. Live demonstrations do snake and tortoise was good.

I love this place because of how fun it is to take students here and explore new and current exhibits alike!

This is a great museum to visit. With or without kids, it is a very enjoyable place to spend an afternoon.

It is a fine natural history museum, but really not my thing.

Great for the kids. Very interactive. I was a little disappointed because they had closed 2 hours early to get ready for a private function.

Awesome museum, the exhibits were amazing. We even got to see an actual Stegosaurus skeleton (not a plaster cast) being worked on to remove it from the rocks. She also got to hold a real neck bone from a saurapod! Being that she has been wanting to be a paleontologist since she was 3 (now almost 8 yrs old), that was like a dream come true for her! The butterfly exhibit was neat, as was the insect exhibit they had. The staff was great and knowledgeable.

Good displays, tho everything is looking a bit dated. Expensive for the condition of everything, but excellent collections.

School trip with with daughter's class is always a pleasure.

I love dinosaurs and there's do not disappoint. There's a beautiful collection of rock specimens. The dioramas were pretty cool too. There's a few interactive things geared towards young kids, they looked cool but we didn't try them. We've gone twice and spent a bit over an hour each time.

Small for a natural history museum, it really only took about 3 hours. The audio tour worked well. Kid friendly, but not all exhibits were for kids.

The museum is a bit dated and has seen better days, but kids love it. The butterflies exhibit is great.

It's a Dynamite spot for kids, my two , four,and nine year olds all had a great time

The live butterfly room and live animals are best part of the trip.
