Beautiful place, friendly staff. Need to upgrade heaters, the heater in our room was very noisy. Other than that we really enjoyed our stay and will visit again.

Horror rude manager. Lights from below kept me awake. Beautiful location. Nice dining room staff.

Stately place to eat and not that expensive although meal, while good, was not grand.

Photographed a wedding here mid spring. Lovely place, great atmosphere and lovely grounds. Staff were really friendly also. Would highly recommend for any couples wanting to get married at a manor house or stately home type place.

A beautiful period house in a lovely setting, let down ever so slightly by the details.

The rooms were spacious and clean. I found it to very hot, even with the large windows wide open. Unfortunately the drone of road noise from the A38 is noticeable, so be aware if you are sensitive to things like that. Bathroom was fitted with a rain-style power shower, unfortunately this is unmovable so you're stuck with water from above.

Quite a few of the staff were foreign. While not a problem, their English language was often quite difficult, and they were clearly not very experienced in the hotel trade. They were however all polite and friendly and everyone must start somewhere. Some service training would certainly not go a miss though.



The gardens are beautiful and the woodland stroll really is a nice getaway. Complimentary WiFi was fast enough to stream iplayer and with good signal strength.

Everything about this hotel was first-class. The staff made our special occasion so memorable. Food and service were superb and bed blissful.

So my wife and I had a mixed feelings visit here and here is why. My wife wanted to celebrate our 10th anniversary this year and through work and life commitments we have little time. So 4 months before our visit we booked a short stay here for drinking, relaxing and no children! When we arrived we were booked into our room but it wasn't the luxury room we had booked apparently it was doubled booked. We were initially disappointed. After some thought we decided to see if the hotel could come up with a compromise and they did so with full acknowledgment how we were feeling. The original room was available the following day and a refund given for the substitute room we had for the first night.

Resolved! We went on to thoroughly enjoy our stay and felt the hotel had gone over and above to make us comfortable and looked after. The lady on duty when we arrived was amazing, she really was. My wife can be quite a handfull and she handled her so well. A bottle of fizz was present in the luxury room the next day.

I want to personally thank the staff team for being so knowledgeable and helping to make our stay brilliant. I will only give 4 stars as it wasn't quite perfect but a very good recovery. I would recommend this hotel and I would be happy to visit again.

The hotel and grounds are beautiful and it was quiet and peaceful through the day and evening.

Amazing hotel!

Took my partner for a surprise birthday getaway with our dog, the staff were excellent and maintained superb social distancing measures while still providing an outstanding experience.

Our room was large and spacious, with an external door leading directly onto the garden, which was an unexpected bonus, and was very useful with our pup!

Cannot recommend this hotel enough, the food and service were outstanding, we will definitely be back in the future!

Beautiful historic country house which now serves as a hotel. Because there are only 15 rooms available, it gives an informal and intimate atmosphere. The service is excellent, rooms are great and food delicious.

Good food at reasonable price. Lovely garden to walk around overlooking the river Dove.

My Husband and myself had the pleasure of staying at the Dovecliffe August 2016 and in August 2017 for a few days, we stayed B/B our room was lovely the breakfast was great the location couldnt have been better Had the pleasure of meeting the new owner I cant wait to return and see the improvements he has made and maybe stay a little while longer...

What a stunning place! I visited once and fell in love with the hotel. I have booked to have my wedding here!

Excellent check in experience and great staff. Stayed overnight and had a meal which was cooked perfectly. Ordered the steak. Great breakfast the morning after.

Went for afternoon tea. It was absolutely delicious with lovely views out of the conservatory.

Beautiful hotel, lovely surroundings. Was there for a wedding in March great good. Could do with toilets downstairs, apart from that everything was great.

Great place and great service. Only downside was the music, the DJ would only play his songs and often refused to play request even though it was a private, all paid, event.

The hotel is set in a lovely secluded area. I never tried the food as I was eating in the area. The staff were very pleasant. The room was modest for the price but the bed was small and noisy.

Liked the style and size of hotel, felt small enough to be comfy but big enough bot to be cramped. Food was great, drink selection good for a relatively small place. Rooms big, bathroom was dared but had all needed. Outside good. Seems to lock down at midnight and have to leave let's when going out which I found a bit odd "fire regularions" no fridge in room but free water. Staff friendly and lovely grounds

Fabulous meal in lovely setting. Staff were lovely, we had a lovely family get together. Would have no trouble recommending Dovecliff.
