This is a very nice airport to land in. The view of the city of Montreal should not be missed, so make sure you have a window seat. Also landing at night is the best with the view of all the city lights down below.

Top class airport. Everyone is very helpful and friendly. Great shops, ambiance and I found this is one of the cleanest airport in Canada. I went few years back but this time time its like a brand new, they actually renovate so well. It was a great experience. If someone went to Montreal for a visiting or fun purpose. I say say one should go to this airport as well.

They didn't allow my water bottle and hair cream through security. OF COURSE they didn't! Water is a very dangerous object, do not drink. And hair cream will give you a dangerously good hair-do. I'm giving this a one star because of the complete lack of logic existing at security. It's either they don't know the definition of what a dangerous object is, or they're just openly fu**ing with you.

We left a cellphone/wallet in one of the taxi's from the airport - trying to get a hold of the company was a nightmare. We ended up going back to the airport to try and find the driver and car (Airport Taxi's only take people from the airport.)

The taxi driver that brought us back to the airport was amazing he showed us where the taxis would be, talked to the man that was in charge of it, and helped us as much as he could. The people inside the airport that manage the taxi/client service were amazing too.

The driver that took us to our hotel originally didn't let us pay with a credit card - which would have allowed them to simply track which car it was. He only took cash he said, we believed him. Every one else we talked to let us know that we should never pay cash and the driver was actually not allowed to do that. But, other taxi drivers saw us and helped tremendously by calling other drivers and spreading the word. Even lost and found in the airport was great.

We were able to track the phone eventually and In the end we got it back. As soon as the driver got back to the airport one of the men that helped us earlier took us straight to which car it was.

So many people went out of their way to help it was quite amazing! 5 stars for those employees (1 for the original driver that lied to us and wouldn't let us pay with a credit card)

Glad to see upgrades going ahead; desperately needed! WIFI is terrible; not very kid friendly; dining is quite expensive; bathrooms were clean; signage has improved somewhat over past 3 years

The Montreal airport has experienced a significant increase, the only negative points to correct are the great distance the passenger crosses in order to get to the border services area, the other point and the baggage waiting time that is long compared to other airports in the world. Another point to correct is that if a passenger has a connection he must spend another time by the search of the security service knowing that the latter is going through a rigorous search at the airport of departure. The correspondence is long is the passenger risk of missing his plane must provide a 4 hours for his next flight.
The last point is wireless internet service, which is mediocre compared to other Canadian airports.

Dropped off my mother for a flight. Went in the check-in counter to make sure her check-in process was without incident, the Air Canada people at the check-in counter were super helpful as her French & English is just passable. They took the time to ensure she understood and assisted her to the gate.

Montreal is a magnificent city, but try to avoid this airport at all costs, especially if flying internationally, as I recently did. I had an hour layover, and just *barely* made it to my connecting flight before takeoff. The queue for Customs had more than 600 people in it, and I had to sprint through about 2 kilometers of confusing and badly marked corridors to reach the gate.

Airport is fine.Returning rental car is extremely tricky. Signage is very poor. It used to be easy. For some reason they have rerouted and this routing is ludicrously complex. Also you used to be able to fill up rental car at gas station right at airport which was very convenient. . No longer. Have to fill up at Esso station off of Dorval Circle which is also tricky if you are not familiar with the area. Returning rental car used to be a 9 out of ten. Now closer to a one out of ten. Not sure which engineering firm managed to take a very good experience and make it painful. Hopefully they were not paid much.

Highway robbery as restaurants, even Starbucks takes gross advantage of travellers by being extraordinarily greedy in what they charge! 4 soups, 3 panini and 5 drinks cost $103. Unacceptable. How can families afford this greediness? Why is this allowed to continue? Who's in charge? Total greed!

I often fly to Montreal and I just love this airport. It's very clean, very spacious for the amount of people it handles, has a lot of chairs for people to wait for the flights or relax, the passport control is usually very quick and seamless, and so is the customs control. The food options are decent. All in all, a very nice airport, especially compared with the large US airports such as JFK, LGA, EWR, LAX, ORD.

Very nice, clean and spacious airport that isn't too crowded with people. The boarder departure process was fast and quick. There's a lot of shops and restaurants to kill some time before your flight. The staff is also very helpful and nice.

Getting here is a nightmare. You approach the airport 3 times and circle away from it before you actually get to it.

If you want to park in the parking garage, you will actually have to leave the airport and circle back around first. Parking is a bit expensive, so be prepared.

I understand the concern about being unable to process passengers fast enough. 3 hours before your flight in the airport with little to do, WiFi that doesn't allow video streaming and little to no shopping opportunity is just the worst experience ever. I had a lot of reading to do but still managed to get bored.

The WORST airport in North America. The employees ...

The WORST airport in North America. The employees were by far THE rudest and meanest people I have EVER encountered in my life. I was beyond shocked and appalled by the unprofessional treatment I endured. I suffered immensely due to the negative, hostile, intolerable environment.

I was bumped off my flight due to overbooking and had to wait 7 hours for the next one - during this time I was screamed at repeatedly for TRYING to ask a question about what was going on. For example I was told to sit down or else he would MAKE SURE I missed my next flight as a threat, while making aggressive gestures as if he was going to physically attack me for simply asking an important question!!!
The staff here act like they are the police and you are a criminal; I felt like I was stuck in prison or the ghetto. The whole experience was extremely traumatizing as I was berated, intimated, disrespected and humiliated for absolutely no reason. I cried for hours and no one helped me, not even customer service which told me it was a privilege to take a flight with them .... plus no working wifi, decent place to eat, or outlets to charge cell phones ... I could write an essay about how terrible, disgusting and pathetic this place is. AVOID!

It is a good airport. Parking is costly $6/hr but usually you can find a parking spot. One major problem that I noticed was the lack of wheel chair staff. There is probably none. Typically the staff that give tickets also seem to perform this job. People that need wheel chair assistance have to wait nearly an hour or more. Wheel chairs were available but not the staff.

The worst airport I have ever seen. The place is small, crowded and noising. Not too many seats. The entrance and signs are not remarkable, which makes you pretty hard to way a right way! Also, they have the slowest WIFI in this world.

Very easy airport to navigate. Nice people (service) working there.
Bus shuttle was super fast and efficient. $10 price is Included with a few bus passes too, making it worth the freedom of a 3 day, 7day or full month pass. Montreal's transit system options are fabulous.

Fast baggage too!!

The worst airport experience ever. I went during a weekday, and it was completely understaffed. Both the AirCanada line and the US customs line had one person working, and the line was dozens long. Thankfully my flight was delayed, because otherwise we would have missed it.

It has been a very long time since I last used the airport in this La Belle province. The airport has improved significantly. It is now much nicer, brighter, cleaner and better than before. And their staff is more courteous and professional.

A good airport. Clean nice with a good staff. There is free wifi and security checks are almost never expected. The downsides are the car parks for picking up people who are a bit far from the terminus. But overall there are not many things to say

Rude staff, which is true to the rude nature of montreal. I have traveled and lived all over the world and this airport has the most incompetent, rude and corse staff of all. Avoid this airport. I was yelled at and cut off while trying to ask a question. I then tried to make a purchase in the duty free section, rules have changed and as an internal flyer I could no longer do this. I was simply asking why and again was cut off. I appreciate what this people due but many of the individuals at this airport la k training and basic common courtesy.

Connecting through this airport to the US was an extremely slow and inefficient process. Having priority security clearance had no effect on wait times. The staff were not very friendly or informative. We will try our best to avoid this airport during future travels.

Coming here for a holiday. The staff and security are rude. There's nothing more I could say for incompetent workers. Fix up on the security especially if they look like everyday people who could easily get floored by a normal person.

I've used YUL countless times in my life and here'...

I've used YUL countless times in my life and here's a quick run down of what to expect these days with this airport.

Pros :

- Security checkpoint has continually been improved and now even gives you a time-frame how long it takes before you get in line. This is appreciated. Once you're in it, staff is friendly, efficient and accommodating. Suck it TSA.

- Free consistently high-quality WiFi that works without any issues.

- Decent variety of places to eat inside past the security checkpoint as well as outside this checkpoint. Quality of food however is debatable depending on your tastes but overall for me.... it has been decent, which is better than what I normally expect in airports.

- Lots of parking options, never had a parking availability issue.

- Convenient little child play areas to keep young children busy while we wait, solid touch.

Cons :

- Customs has a reputation of being crap and it is true. Woe is the day you come here and exit your plane at the same time as 2-3 other flights and have to endure a long wait that sometimes can be as long as an hour or more!!! Seriously, once I got here there was 500+ people waiting with 4 cubicles being used... are you kidding me? You're tired from your flight and it pisses me off to no end to see all those cubicles empty while you wait for someone to process your passport for 30 seconds. Stupid!! Thankfully on my return on my latest trip (which was late at night) the airport installed some automatic systems that I used and it made the whole process a little more streamlined but this is by far my biggest issue with this airport.

- The airport and access to it has been continually under construction the last decade. This speaks volumes on the Montreal construction industry. They've completed some major milestones recently and improved this some but it's still a work in progress and it shows. Better signals directing you would be appreciated. On my last visit I had to wing it to find the economy long-term parking.

- Taxis are robbery here and brown envelopes have been exchanged to not allow competition like UBER have access to do business here. Expect to pay some green bills to make use of this shady business.

- There's probably something very wrong with rental companies over here because each and every one of them has terrible recurring reviews here over the last few years, just a head's up, not a personal experience.

- No phone/cell/wall changing stations.... it's 2016 people!! Setup a few place for people to plug in their phones/laptops people!

- Overall, doesn't look very modern or pretty. It could made so with a re-design and better displays helping people in several languages (French AND ENGLISH AND SPANISH to get around better). Current signage is baaaaaaad and the staff who allow this to happen should feel baaaaaaad too.

- Shuttles to bring you to your buses have been changed and I don't like it once bit. One shuttle caters to specific parking done (EX: P3 to P6 and P7 to P9). This means if you miss your shuttle by a minute you have to wait a long time (20+ minutes) for it to come back. If the other shuttle comes by, it's USELESS as it won't take you to your car! This is stupid, just let both shuttles do the entire route it used to or better yet, add more shuttles!!!

Update 5 feb 2019: I went to take my mother back f...

Update 5 feb 2019: I went to take my mother back for her trip. She took American Airlines. Arriving at the kiosk, the representative who was in our fifties greeted us in English and a silly attitude. Yes it is American Airlines but we are in Quebec and these representatives should give the option to be served in French too. We are not in the United States. Hello? Anyways. My mother understood French only and the representative communicated in French by then but ... did not look happy. Then, one of the baggage for the check up was 1 pound too heavy for weighing ... so it was the total panoply. My mother has to redo her luggage to remove 1 pound of luggage. She succeeded . Then, the representative used an "authoritarian" tone to make my mother understand that she was late by 1am and that she might not be passing customs. In general, everything went well but the customer service of American Airlines is very "ordinary" I think. I had the impression of doing business with the army my god. In short, my mother is gone and everything went well for her next. In any case, I would never take American Airlines even if you offer me the free flight. Oh hell no. So I remove 2 stars. So from 4 stars to 2 stars. Cheers.

2018: I like this airport. Once I asked for help from the helpdesk and the man helped me a lot. I also like the environment. Looks like I see people excited for their trip ... I like to see people excited ... the "goodbye" drama .. sigh ... what nostalgia ...
