The museum let's you pay what you want for general admission, which makes it incredibly affordable and cool. The gem exhibit is closed until 2019. All of the temporary exhibits that are advertised are pay to enter, which was kind of unfair given that the mummies were pay to enter. The exhibits in general are extremely dated in their design, with taxidermied animals in glass rooms posed to look natural. It wasn't worth $23 per ticket but it was worth going. If you go on the weekend, double and triple check your travel plans, that subway station is stupid.

I have been here more times than I can count. This place never gets old as everyone loves the dinosaurs. This is a great place to take kids as it is interactive. Lots to learn about animals and science. Go to the planetarium. It's like being in space.

Great museum experience! The exhibits are very well done, detailed and realistic. The admission is a suggested amount, but you are free to pay whatever you want to enter the museum. This museum is magical and everyone should go at least once in their lifetime.

It's such an awesome place to go to learn about our planet in general. There's so much, it takes 2 days to see it all. I leave with knowledge stuck in my head to fascinate me for the rest of the day. The only thing is the lines on the weekends are long so try to get tickets before coming. I recommend going to the gift shops also because it's 3 floors of amazement!

I went today to the museum and when i bought the tickets i got the special pass that said all exhibitions and the special exclusive exhibitions too but when i paid for it the cashier said I HAD TO CHOOSE ONLY 3 which i did not understand if i paid the exclusive thicket , overall the museum is nice clean and a bit fun all the exhibitions are informative and i loved the live crocs they had.

The exposition is amazing. Pricey but worth it. Very high quality exposition. All the stuffed animals look real. The queing system was a bit confusing. There were no people by the ticket machines, so i didn't understand why there were so many people queing. Maybe the tickets were cheaper at the cachier. And 2h is definitelly not enough for visiting this museum.

Such an awesome museum. So happy we visited. We cannot wait to go back! We were so happy to see things from Night at the Museum, plus so much more. You need two days to really experience this museum.

I think I was most facinated with the dinosaur fossils. They really bring to life a past era and stimulates one's imagination. I did on more than one occasion think of the movie "Night at the Musuem." I think it would take a week to fully exhaust this musuem. Many exhibits are outdated, but at the same time they create history in itself. There's something here for all ages. Food is available on premises.

Half a day at least at this huge museum. Most of the galleries are amazing, great for kids and family. Loved the dinosaurs and the mummies of special exhibit. The coffee place on 4th floor is pricy but than again what do u expect? ;)

It's a beautiful building, inside and out, with really lovely views over Central Park. Be prepared to fight kids and tourists for a spot by the best exhibits. Handily for those with smartphones, there's an app with maps and a self-guided highlights tour so you don't miss out (or get lost).

In the Museum Of Natural History there are a lot of animals and plants from the past. There are animals from every single century in this museum. There are kinds of sharks, dolphins, trees, plants and more. What I like about the Museum Of Natural History is the gold rocks.

First off, just like the MET, You really need to spend 2 full days to really enjoy everything that is in here, especially if you want to fully enjoy this Museum just be sure you allow enough time for it. I strongly recommend checking out the dinosaur exhibits, as well as the exhibits on geology, really professional staff, and it's super fun. Honestly I think I enjoy just about every exhibit, but something about seeing a T-Rex is just awe-inspiring! Also the dinosaur eggs are really cool too! And well all the little gift shops are fun! The staff that works in this Museum are really wonderful people! And of course don't forget to check out the Hayden Planetarium!! Neil deGrasse Tyson is the man!!! This museum is fun for all ages, you can't go wrong. And the Central Park area right next to the museum is great for a relaxing stroll after you leave the museum. Also if you do decide to come to this Museum, make sure you get there very early, preferably 30 minutes or earlier before the museum even opens, otherwise you will be in line forever!! Enjoy! :)

Amazing! For anyone visiting NYC this is a must. Sadly I didn't get too see as much as I would have liked but what I could see was amazing and the talks they are are awesome and really informative.

Today was a perfect day to visit the museum, cold and rainy and so we left the hotel believing that the queue to enter the museum would be giant and it was! But ok, we were ready for that and yes it was amazing to visit every floor, so much history, so many languages spoken inside, so much life to reflect. Wonderful!!!!! What disappointed me was the attendance of the t-rex guy, being completely unkind to the disappointed people knowing that they couldn't attend the most famous "dino" session in the world. Hello Museum, ability is always pre requisite to have with people !!! More criteria in hiring employees who have contact with guests.

It's a cool place, and I think it covers the era of our earth quite well. However, my father and I are disappointed in the fact that the Southwest Native American cultures are NOT represented in ANY of these exhibits. Literally every other part of the world is covered except them. It's too bad.

The layout of this museum is very confusing

The layout of this museum is very confusing
and directional information is skimpy.
There are signs indicating that you should
go down a certain hallway to get to a place,
but the hallway does not go to that place.
There are several staircases that are not
marked and you have no idea where they lead.

When we entered the museum we were given a
brochure that included a map, but the
printed map was of marginal value because it
lacked detail and reference points.

The exhibits were marked with small signs that
were difficult to read and were very terse.
Most of the displays could have benefited from
a more detailed explanation.

Really nice museum with a variety of exhibits from geological to zoological to anthropological. I really enjoyed all the exhibition halls. Be sure to get a map it is large and can be like a maze.

I'm so sorry that the American Museum Natural History Museum's expansion into Theodore Roosevelt Park was approved by the NY City Parks Department, because it used to be one of my favorite places to enjoy a bit of quiet, (see photo on right) and now look what has become of it one year later (see photo on left.)

Visited four different afternoons throughout the week. Saw every square inch of the museum. Can't recommend highly enough. Went there for the dinosaurs, but it opened kid's eyes to so much more. Recommend to buy a membership and access the smaller lines if visiting multiple times.

Amazing artifacts at this museum. Many floors of stuff to see from all over the world. I think the price listed for admission is about $25pp but if you read the fine print, it says suggested donation. Meaning YOU DONT HAVE TO PAY THE More

The best in the world with a phenomenal history you can read about in Douglas Preston's "Dinosaurs in the Attic". What an education!!. The dioramas were created from pictures of the actual locations in Africa. And most of the stuff is in the basement like The Met Museum.

I absolutely loved this museum, and wish I had spent a whole day there! I'll definitely be going back. The Amazonias exhibition is fantastic, and the mammals of North America are a must-see

The AMNH is a must for any trip to New York city. There is a bit of funny business at the entrance where they recommend you pay $23 for a ticket. I say recommend because you can pay whatever you want. We paid $5 each which is more than we would ever have paid in London. The exhibits inside the museum are fantastic and set out really well. Each exhibit sets out to depict an animal, people or plant in its environment and it does so with an amazing attention to detail. There is a lot to see so make sure you get there early if you want to see all of it.

This place is pure magic. Come here with the family multiple times a year and every time it's as if we'd never been there. The exhibits are breathtaking; our favorites are the Hall of North American Mammals and Hall of African Mammals. So much fun!

One of the best museums to go to in NYC and it's got the Hayden Planetarium which is a must as well. Always something new to see whenever I go there, from minerals and meteoroids to prehistoric bones and even little criters that can resist heat and cold. Staff is usually helpful and they have shops with some slightly overpriced stuff for the tourists. Highly suggested for kids and adults alike.

I've gone to this museum since I was a kid and have very fond memories here. Being here during covid is actually very pleasant and enjoyable. There's not too many people and I can enjoy the exhibits without having to hustle my viewing.

My favourite museum in New York!
It s really good value for money! A great museum. There are lots of regular and special exhibitions all year long and it would be interesting for both kids and grownups

A cool place, lots of good information! Good for schools too. However, some areas were very dark and some people had flashlights. Also, the Native American exhibits were still referred to as "Indian".

Very cool museum. The tickets aren t so expensive and the price worth it. If you visit New York, you must visit this museum. I can say that this is the best Natural History museum in the world. Recommend!!!

Complete waste of a day. Full of school children, no signage, and the coat check costs 2 dollars pp. The coat staff are particularly rude. All of the exhibits are aged and are in need of a clean. Please, do not waste your day at the scam.

This place is awesome. It can easily take you 2 days to explore the whole thing. If your visiting New York you've got to spend a day here. Combine it with a walk around central park and you've easily got a day planned.

I love this museum. Its huge! We went two days in a row and bought a membership. They have very strong covid protocols and we felt safe visiting. Watch the night at the museum movie before you go for inspiration. I love the mix of old and new exhibits. I could also spend hours in the museum store. My 9 yr old loved the t rex exhibit and the Tibet exhibit. My husband loved the ocean exhibits and I loved the early human history.

An absolute amazing museum!!! I was really impressed with everything that it offers. I would definitely recommend visiting this place when in nyc. We all recognize this museum from the popular movie. However, you never know if it may be disappointing in real life. I can guarantee you that it is even better and bigger. We spend here quite some time and still did not see everything, there js just so much to see!

I had a great time here back in February. I particularly liked the dinos. I was really glad to see that they had re-wrote a plaque on the white men first being introduced to the indigenous. It ssid that the display was misrepresented both parties in an untrue way and had whitewashed the whole scenem. I appreciate it when a history museum corrects its past mistakes. Good job!

I had a pretty nice experience. Only a couple of hours to spend here so it was very rushed, didn't see every single thing on display, but was able to walk the entire place. You can buy tickets online to avoid the line, but you can't pay less if you wanted to do that, you must wait in line. It was quite crowded buy it was also mid summer. Sat under the whale for a while and relaxed.
