Great hot springs!
Facilities are very nice.
Area has fun activities like golf, gambling and dining. Gotta soak it in!!
Nice and comfortable place, however, they attend to the rooms only to replace towels and sheets, no cleaning of bathrooms, kitchen or rooms, while you stay, unless you're ready to pay extra!
Amazing and relaxing place. Definitely recommend for a quiet weekend away.
Review is about the hot springs only. For $50 you get 4 or 5 smaller pools and 1 swimming pool. The water is kept between 101-104 and is regulated. The steam rooms were out of service, the saunas small and nothing special. If it werent for Katie the great receptionist giving us a discount, I would have left. No towels offered, locks if you leave a cc, and no services anymore. Huge miss. Won't be back.
Awesome place 30mins from lake Tahoe. Peaceful tranquil atmosphere.
Yep I'm glad we got to go. Soaked in the hot water then rested and had dinner. The food was great. The only problem we had was some little kid running down the hallway ringing the doorbell late in the evening.
I highly suggest not to stay at this "resort", really it is just a hotel, the hot springs ARE NOT included. Even though their website clearly promotes the hot springs and hotel are one company. They charged my card for $1000 for damage to a shower door hinge, which was held together and tied neatly with rubber string as the hinge. Obviously, this was their maintenance crew attempting to fix this, NOT US! We did not take any initiative to contact and report this during our stay, instead the hotel is pointing the finger at us in order to have us pay for their maintenance. Really who would go through the effort in creating a new hinge like this? Of course, the manager is not able to contact back for a few days to discuss this.
Come to David Walleys every year. Resort is so great. Comfortable, staff is very friendly and helpful and the spa and hot springs are s major attraction.
One bedroom unit was very spacious with kitchen and separate living area. Bathroom was large but could use an update. Property overall was nice and in a beautiful setting. The area that could use most improvement is the service and staff working there.
Love this place. Came here for a girls weekend and got the reiki. The ladies at the front desk of the spa were wonderful as well as the massage therapists!
Nice little resort outside Tahoe in the foothills of the Sierra mountains.
Amazing staff, lovely accommodations, and stellar things to do in all seasons. Plus the hot springs are magic! Excellent place to come and relax.
Disclaimer: This is a Timeshare not a Hotel, I hear they will be building nice replica cabins for rent to accompany the two historic cabins currently available. We have owned here for years. The management has changed recently (good since we love the location). The new management is much better than the last two groups that ran the Resort. The Geothermal Mineral Spa's are great for soaking after a long day on the slopes
After a day of fresh snow powder, the hot spring provided the perfect soak for the aching muscles. Situated at the bottom of the majestic Sierra mountains, the place rendered many historical splendors.
I have been here for just one night, but am quite pleased so far.
Edited to add: I spent seven nights here and loved it! The hot springs were very relaxing. We had a two bedroom unit with a full kitchen, living area and two balconies and it was very spacious.
Visited for the long weekend. The rooms were spacious and fully stocked. The bed was a bit uncomfortable but one quick call and a mattress topper solved the problem. Lots of parking and elevators to ease the checking in process. The More
Love this place. A hidden nugget of comfort and relaxation in a scerene and beautiful location.
Great place to visit 10 years ago still can't complain about the rooms or facilities. However customer service is now lacking. Prices are getting too high to want to keep coming here and they "lost" my membership information. They are definitely making to more inconvenient and expensive to maintain my interest in maintaining and returning.
They took away their spa, wouldn't let me check in early after driving for hours with a puke covered kid, and ever since holiday inn bought it out, they have gone downhill. Do not waste your time, and definitely don't buy a time share with them.
The hotel rooms are over priced. Watch out for the timeshare sales pitch
Beautiful grounds. Wonderful food. You should experience it at least once!
Well own here for15 years , Hot spring part of resort Dynomite can't say enough about it cause its a very healthy place for body an revitalizing. The resort part well work in progress.
Hot tubs are outside ,Hot Springs help my Military Injuries Rooms have hot tubs and Kitchens Service is Great !
Great outdoors and hot springs. Keeps up on maintaining parking lot.
9/2020 Due to the current Coronavirus scare, and despite the CDC deeming outdoor pools one of the safest places to be due to the fresh air and sun (=sterilizing ultraviolet rays), ALL the many outdoor hot tubs were closed despite there being enough for 1 per family with a reservation. Fitness Center was closed, too. No bar on campus, but Genoa has one with outdoor seating at picnic tables.
Pool was open with limits on # of people due to Social Distancing requirements (but it still had kids going every which way!).
Food at the fancy restaurant was not very good (one dinner was almost inedible). Room had no desk for a laptop or reading, no extra blanket for the cool NV nights, and the lighting was so dim in the bathroom there is no way a lady can do her makeup in there; we had to go by the window and try to juggle a tiny purse mirror and our supplies and brushes.
Management & upkeep was not to Resorts West nor Holiday Inn standards, so not sure what is going on. Hopefully it changes soon.
Not much to do on property during my 5 night visit, but Historic (tiny) Genoa and Carson City (shopping!) are nearby. Reno and historic hillside mining town Virgina City are about 45 min. north.
Good: Room (in Bldg C) has new furniture, comfy sleeper couch & fpl in living room, decent kitchen, large spa tub and a shower in suite bathroom, & lovely peaceful views.
Clean inside the building. Overall relaxing. These are the pluses. Now for the minuses.
Eeeeexpensive. 5 years ago used to be half the price of what it is now. Did we get a pay increase equivalent of one more salary, for the last 5 years? Such thing doesn't happen even in 20 years... So David's is kind of after your money...
Another undeniable thing is, which is obvious, they do POOR job replacing the hot water, you can see particles, people's skin from previous day's, and what not floating in there. Maintenance crew probably NEVER takes a dip in there, they know how poorly they change the water, and what's floating in it...
Another really annoying thing is, the upper rim around the pool, and hot tubs, has black mold, which is a hazard, but nobody takes care of it, it's been so for the last 8 years, and they just wouldn't take care of it. While it's not that hard to. Every time you just hope it will be gone, but the maintenance crew just wouldn't do squat about.
A spray bottle, undiluted bleach, spray it there, wait for few hours. Repeat again for one or two times. I guarantee black mold will be all killed.
The black mold will disappear, revealing the real color that used to be there.
Nobody takes care of this, seems like they are thinking, it grows pretty quick back on, why even bother...
Really?
Pipty bux, they just want your pipty bux...
In the end they don't make you feel, that you are top taken care of, for the money they want.
Did I lie? Go check it out for yourself, as of February 15th 2019, this review is right on spot, not a thing lied about
First found a use period pad wrapped in a towel under one of our dressers on the first day we checked in. Second Marie stokes the wedding planner was the worst manager I have ever met not once in the two months we planned my wedding did she call me to talk. she only wanted to communicate through email and that made things difficult. Another thing she failed to do was inform me she was taking the day off before my wedding so I had to spend an hour out of my time trying to get someone to unlock the reception area so I could decorate. Then she decided the day of the wedding after having zero involvement with communications to me decided to walk around the ceremony and take credit for the little work she even did. She also decide to tell my maid of honor that I lacked communicating with her even though I had been calling her office and I was the one trying to get a hold of her. Then Stephane the resort manager I had been trying to contact for the two months I had been planning my wedding NEVER gave me a call, I had called her at least 6 times and left my number and not once did she call me. Then we own a time share up there and dump money into this place to get a room smaller than the room our guest rent for a night at a cheaper price then our investment. I would have told my problems to the person in charge but they ALL failed to communicate with me.
We had a nice stay at 1862 Hot Springs Resort. Room was comfortable but dated and sheets had holes in them. For the money we spent, we expected better.
Wonderful time! Dinner reservations longer then expected but wonderful experience anyway
My parents own a timeshare there and I had never been there prior. We live about an hour and a half from the resort and never knew we had such a gem in our own backyard. Its beautiful, the hot springs, the mountains and the resort as well the little town of Genoa is the first or second town in Nevada history. I highly recommend visiting if you get a chance
I had a wonderful experience with David Walley's . My wife and I were selected for one of their couples retreat promotional deals. We both got massages (Dale was great!) - access to the hotsprings is normally $50 and was included with our package. Clean place, cool history. We stayed at one of the neighboring hotels the Carson Valley Inn Hotel and Casino which was a great little casino in minden (great sports bar).
Genoas history is really amazing, what a gem!.
Overall nice experience but the spring is promptly closed at 9:15pm.
Great Place to Relax, Restaurant was killer! Best burger I've had in years. Also had their pulled pork sandwich! Awesome food and service!!
50 dollars for a day pass should include at least lotion in the bathroom . There was very little shade due to all umbrellas being broken .The pools ,spa, and patio furniture in desperate need of a face lift. Should be around 20 dollars for the day for what was offered. Not worth 50 bucks.
Good hot spring resort , but the hot tub Jets are'nt maintained properly, no shade .
Booked a room for the day and was told that the hot springs was complimentary, even called twice to make sure. Right before leaving my wife called again because she read some Yelp reviews. So we called and spoke to the supervisor Emma, and sure enough the pool and jacuzzis are not included when you book a room .
Rooms were excellent and every one was helpful. Very nice establishment.
The first time was amazing ! But we just bought a vacation package through there and called to redeem it and they told us to stay at the resort is $135 per night extra nights and $75 a night for the 3 days we already bought .plus $25 per adult each night. I will NEVER go back thee again due to the changing package price and the disrespect I received!
Deferred maintenance is obvious. Five star resort no way!
I was at David Walley's Hot Springs for a wedding. We arrived there on May 13th and 14th . I usually pull blankets down to see if the sheets were change, but on this particular night we were so tired I forgot. On the 14th we arrived back from a wedding late and I did not have the maid come in that day because I do not find it necessary for them to bother for a 2 day stay. When we were about to get in bed the blanket happened to slip off the bed. To my horror they was blood on the sheets at the feet of the bed. We had to place towels on the blood which was a dark blood that had been there for awhile so we could sleep. It was to late to call the desk because it was very late at night. I would not recommend this resort ever!!! When I alerted the front desk that the maid didn't change the sheets and he wrote my complaint down, but never heard from them at all ! I was appalled by their lack of response.
Love this place. Love the Water hammer that massages your back so nicely. Every chance I get to go out there, is an Awesome experience. The staff that works here are also very friendly and courteous. Strongly record this place anyone looking to soak-in in mineral water of Hot Springs and just relax and rejuvenate.
The resort is not worth your money. The rooms are nice and large with a great view however the hot springs are not included in your expensive room price. It is $50 per person and the hot springs can get busy as the resort allows people who are not staying at the resort to be at the hot springs as long as they pay. The resort does not provide any robes to go to and from your room and hot springs.
Overall okay. If the resort was not so expensive and didn t include these things that would be one thing however the resort rooms are expensive and does not include anything. Disappointed
Buyer Beware!! Just letting everyone know out there that's thinking
about buying at David Walley's, DON'T! This company is horrible and
will send you to 20 different people when your trying to get help. They
really did a number on me financially and I just want people to be aware!
I loved david walleyes yesterday because of how pretty it is there
Beautiful resort on a historic site. Hot springs on property which people swear have healing properties. Rooms are furnished well and feel like home. Resorts looks like a quaint old western town. Food in the restaurant and Saloon are amazing. Highly recommend. Check it out.
We go here regularly. The place is pet friendly, close proximity to Tahoe and wonderful natural hot springs. The hot spring is not well managed though. They allow young kids unsupervised, babies with diapers and sick people into the hot springs. Yikes! Even complaining to the front desk dint help. If they could only enforce the rules, this resort would be 5 stars
This hotel/timeshare is in a very beautiful setting, and the facility itself is very nice also, as is the staff. I highly recommend.
Most of the pools were under construction. We came as guests of a timeshare owner who said staff hadn't told them this ahead of time. Location otherwise is beautiful, the hot springs we could access were wonderful, the on-site restaurant served great food.
Visited once and loved it. I would like to return but they recently upped the price 5X, so it might be a while for me.
We're owners at this resort, and we enjoyed our stay as always. The only thing that could have been improved was that the tub was only pumping lukewarm water for a bath and it never warmed up to hot, despite the fact that we are staying at a hot springs.
I went their because we paid a discounted rate to get a 3 night vacation, then we have to listen to their time share sales pitch. Afterwards we also get $100.00 back as well. The first mistake they made was to put us at another place to stay. When you want us to buy into your resorts, you should let us stay there. We're 11 miles away. We are at a hotel without a pool, in the middle of downtown Gardnerville. When we went to the pitch, I tried to explain why they should have explained this up front, as I was expecting to stay there, get away from it all. The salesman called his female supervisor over and she went to research it. She came back, said that I got an email and I should have known. At that point, the salesman knew he was finished but went through the motions. At the end, she tried one last sales pitch and we said no thanks and she told us where to go to get our final stuff. She was the rudest person I'd ever met. I'd never buy from them unless they'd give it to me and then if still have my doubts.
Surprised to see wonderful facility plenty of amenities and friendly staffs! Will stay longer next time
Nice rooms, quiet and comfortable. Restaurant closes at 830.
1862 Hot Springs Resort has a unique combination of a relaxing and beautiful location and the bonus of a series of hot mineral springs to luxuiate in. There are also several warm water pools for swimming. Inside the rooms are nicely furnished with useful kitchens, pleasant sitting areas both inside and on balconies, and amazingly comfortable beds. There's a jacuzzi as well. A pleasant restaurant is a short walk away if you don't want to cook..All in all it's a great place to unwind and spend time with family and friends.
Has 5 natural hot springs, all in nice tubs at different temperatures. Also had full sized swimming pool. In the locker rooms their are saunas and a hot room
We stayed for a week and it was nice. Rooms: We had a 2 bedroom unit. The rooms are nice and clean. We killed several spiders every day in the room, I suppose it was because we were on the bottom floor next to the stairs... which wasn't fun, but the spa tub was nice.
Pools: the mineral hot springs/spa area was always crowded, they have it open to the public so we didn't even bother using it. The other pool was popular as well and even with it not heated it was used all day and evening. For a resort that size they should have more pool options especially when one pool/spa area is open to the public.
Fishing: The catch and release fishing area wasn't amazing. A lot of trash in the "stream". The fish were biting on worms but the fish we got were super tiny. But my three kids were each able to catch 4-5 each, so they were happy.
Overall the staff was super nice and the area around was beautiful. Quick drive to many places like Lake Tahoe. We would definitely go back.
Hey it was a good place full oflos of peoppr wbo were hekpiful and nocce as well as some hag were mean and he fire was hot as shhak by not as ho as spke the fisshes fbshahb sbdjrj e bsnd d sjc jxjcghsb. I'm lookin to pay with your tablet but you know to the lunch gig due to with your PayPal info I'll send it with your tablet but you know with
Needs upgrading. Room amenities falling apart (the sink broke), bed uncomfortable, old TV from the 80's couldn't even hear it. The spa fitting room small for all the people trying to change, the pools too small and deteriorating... Not for us, we will never come back
Worst stay ever! Woke up at 4 am to a fire alarm. Ran w/ 4 kids and Dad in wheelchair to vacate only to find out it was a broken alarm. It malfunctioned for an HOUR! No one came around or called to say it was not a real fire alarm. The next day, we awoke to the elevators being turned off--um, you have a handicap room on the 3rd floor and it's occupied--you can't shut off the elevator. We never received any acknowledgement or apology for that. Breakfast at Annie's was cold and we were the only ones in there. The grounds are NOT good for those in wheelchairs--maybe they meet minimum requirements but it was difficult to get my Dad around. The main pool was shut down for repairs and the water aerobic instructor was super rude about sharing the other pool. We packed up and left.
