We recently got notified that they would be terminating our house insurance due to the fact that we have a German Shepherd on the premises. A German Shepherd I might add who we had when we first got insurance with them. They didn t have an issue with her at that time. Reason number 2 we got cancelled was because we had horses here for the summer. Even though those exact horses were covered by my parents house insurance in Iowa. 3rd reason we got cancelled was because there is no railing upstairs for a door that leads outside that we do not use. This door was there when we bought the house but they insured us at that time. Lastly we have a heat source that we ve never used. It s also been there since we moved in.

I m not trying to fight it as we ve already cancelled our insurance with them and signed up with a new company who does not discriminate against dogs. I m just trying to warn people about insurance companies like this. My biggest issue with them is that the things they said they were dropping us for were here when they did the walk through when we initially bought our house and signed up for their insurance.

Make sure you ask questions about things like this when insuring your house because I didn t even know they could cancel house insurance based on things they are already aware of.
