Bought a Jerry's Homes Townhome in Ankeny, Iowa. Finished on time, fit our lifestyle perfectly. Jerry's Homes representatives (during walk-through and final inspection) were very responsive and detail oriented. Landscaping was well done. Design and structure was quality built. Nice subtle additions. Very impressed and highly recommend Jerry's Homes!
We purchased a home from Jerry's Homes in March of 2018 with the assistance of Dawn Edwards. We have been thrilled with our house and would recommend both Jerry's Homes and Dawn.
I wouldn t even give Jerry s homes a 1 Star but that is the least it will let me give. They don t caulk the nails on the roof. They don t do the electrical correct. Then when you go to sell the seller has to go through all kinds of rigamarore andtake a loss when this stuff should have been caught when the house was bought brand new. I would not recommend a Jerry s home or dealing with Iowa realty
The home that I purchased was a new build. My concerns preventing a 5 star rating are related to the build quality. Upon living in the home for 2 months now, there are things that I have found questionable in their sustainability for years to come. For example, the deck has some severe bowing in the wood, but I was told that it was acceptable. The wood floors in the kitchen/living room make creaking noises that at certain spots sound like it could eventually crack. There were also some spot treatments on things that Jerry s was supposed to address, but the facilitator never returned to perform the job. I guess time will be the overall factor for my long term experience.
Buying process was relatively painless - will update after living in the house
I had a GREAT Realtor (Iowa Realty) who helped me along with purchasing a townhouse. When it came to time for the walk through the Realtor was with me to make sure every spot was taken care of, which Jerry's Home did do. I took advantage of the one year warranty and had good luck with that. The only reason for 4 stars is that Jerry's Home did not keep their promise to replace the trees that had died (they waited until the time frame lapsed and then declared themselves not responsible). It would be nice to have a home builder that was customer driven and not so profit driven to the dime.
Our realtor was great - very patient, responsive, and available to answer any questions we had. Our home exceeds our expectations in quality!
I purchased a town home 2 years ago. Overall experience has been good. Warranty was responsive to a couple of small problems I had in the first year. A couple of yard/property maintenance issues that were not resolved caused the One star loss.

Jerry s home built a beautiful home for us. We are very happy with it. The construction is great, but the customer service throughout the process was a bit frustrating. Too many communication channels, and inaccurate information shared. In the end, we are pleased but hope they can improve on communication for the next buyer.

Quality people to work with having very good communication during planning/building and dealing quickly with any warranty-related issues. In general the build, layout and materials are great and most issues have been trivial. My only real concern is in some finishing work that was seemingly rushed to meet close date. Keep an eye that desired upgrades/selections are implemented if several similar builds are going on nearby, but these are addressed promptly if noticed.
We chose Jerry's Homes and Joe Heemstra to build our new home late last summer. We selected one of their floor plans and made several changes and upgrades. They were extremely helpful, offered us suggestions, paid close attention to detail and made sure our new home was built exactly the way we had hoped it would turn out plus it was finished right on schedule. We feel we made and excellent choice in selecting Jerry's Homes and Joe Heemstra to build our home and would highly recommend them.

We had several Jerry's homes employees show up today at our house and they were beyond disrespectful to my wife and I. They didn't grade and tile the lots behind us appropriately were looking for excuses. They eventually realized the issue was not on our property, walked off with their tails between their legs, and didn't even apologize for wasting our time (nevermind their attitudes). I wouldn't buy from this scum.
I was told there would be a small $20-30 HOA fee, but they didnt have all the details worked out at the time I closed on my house. The HOA fee ended up being $90/month. Make sure you have EVERYTHING in writing when doing business with Jerry's Homes. I would not have purchased the home if I knew there was a $90 HOA fee.

Stay away from Mike Nigro and Mike Young, they don't care what you have to say even when you are trying to be helpful.
Their properties were not graded and prepared for drainage properly which has resulted in essentially marsh land developing in the backyards of their properties in Adel. As an unaffiliated lot bordering up with their properties, we have had the delight to become the target of their blame. I had already heard of their reputation and the group of men (which included Mike Nigro and Mike Young) who the "company" had out today did nothing to detract from that. They presumingly and mistakenly claimed our lawn irrigation system was to blame for water on their lots not draining. "Every time we run into this issue, it's because there's a leak at the irrigation control box". WRONG. No issues where they had banked them being. They had this conclusion on default before showing up. They didn't listen to a word myself and my neighbors had to say about how the issue is development-wide with EVERY house having issues with poor drainage, etc. I was too insignificant to have anything to say that was worth their time is how it seemed when honestly I was trying to help. It fell on arrogant, deaf ears. They should have come in with a different attitude and showed a little respect. No, we are not responsible for your mistakes. Maybe just do the job right the first time next time? Or you could come out and deflect blame and responsibility onto unrelated people and properties. That's a fun option. Better people and better builders out there; you won't have to look far.

We ve had a couple issues since first moving in in April, very minor. But still not something you want to inexperience starting out in a brand new home. We called up the 24hr contact under the home warranty and they came out the next day and fixed every problem!

Own a house built buy Jerry s home, the house is about 20 yrs old and I ve already had to replace the shingles and AC. Which I guess is fine, but the big issue is the foundation, when I moved in 10 yrs ago I didn t realize there was big cracks in the foundation walls and ground. There was a big spot where you can see the rocks from the foundation wall, as if they did not pave it right. The drive way also was in very bad shape when I moved in, very big cracks and is shifting really bad. I should of have taken that as a sign to not buy the house! Just not a quality built home. I ve seen 100 yr old homes with better foundation.
It took some time and finally got moved in. Plenty of room for us 2. Penny helped us get through everything! Thanks Penny! We are telling our friends about these home!

We built our new home with Jerry's. Overall we're happy, but there were several miscommunications along the way and a couple things that still haven't been addressed (some shortcuts were taken and need to be fixed). I wouldn't say communication is their strong suit, so luckily we had a realtor who was better at it.

We had Jerry s build us a build to order home right before and during the pandemic. The whole process was extremely smooth and we got to customize a ton about our home without paying much if any extra. I was nervous about using a builder because I always heard changes cost money which they do sometimes, but with Jerry s if you do them early enough into planning they don t cost anything. The next great thing was price. Jerry s gave us the cost of the home when we started planning and that price didn t change the entire building process (unless we added extra things) which they were super clear and transparent about the prices. There were no hidden fees , our realtor was welcome to join every meeting, and they were extremely accommodating with the pandemic. I couldn t recommend them enough!
Worst home building experience I could've imagined. At our "11 month walk through" which happened at 15 months, after begging them to come address our residing home issues, they still didn't fix the things they'd promised. We paid $5000 extra to upgrade to stained doors and the main door in the house came with a huge scratch (which they attempted to fix and only made it worse/shinier) and then refused to do anything about it, stating "we're just not gonna go down that road". They were heartless and impossible to get along with. Even made me cry. Would not recommend to anyone.
Just like everything, there are ups and downs. Yet, we have our new home and so far are extremely,(busy), but more importantly excited to begin our new journey!

Working with Jerry s Homes was a great experience from start to finish. They listened to our concerns, understood our vision, and worked to make our home PERFECT.
The realtor, Nancy Niece-Roush with Iowa Realty, was great to work with and very helpful even well after the purchase of our house. For the most part we are pleased with our home, but there were a couple of items we feel should have been addressed with our warranty that were not.
As an agent, Jerry's Homes has a smooth process that is communicated to both buyers and their buying agents from the very beginning. The listing agents I have worked with have been very responsive to assist my clients with any questions they have.
