Took my Tacoma in to get an oil change. I m a former navy mechanic and I know a lot about maintenance. I looked underneath when I got home and there was a slow drip of oil making a puddle in my drive way. I called and left a message for the service dept manager. Was told he would call me back and I could bring it in the next day.

Next day at noon I took the truck in. I identified the problem and they said they would look at it. The service manager blew me off and told his maintenance desk guy to handle it. I informed them I wanted to inspect the washer they used and to know the torque they used (I had suspected they may not have used a new crush washer to seal the drain pan).

Instead of listening, the mechanic himself came out to inform me the problem was fixed, that it was essentially my fault because the truck had some dirt underneath it and some of the dirt had gotten on the sealing surface where the crush washer seats and caused the leak. As if it isn t the mechanic s responsibility to clean the seating surface with a rag before making the new drain pan seal.

I never got a follow up with the service manager. I can t believe the audacity of blaming me for a potential engine-killing error on their part.

I wouldn t recommend using their service department. I have never been treated like this by any dealership.
