Doug Carmichael Review of Honda of Seattle

I brought my accord in to have the air bags replaced under the Takata recall campaign. The job was completed in good time as they had promised. But when the service man called to let me know how things were progressing he said that during their inspection they had found that the rear brakes needed to be replaced and the cost would be $440 and that the lower ball joints were in need of replacement and that would cost another $500. The car had just 57000 miles on it so I fugured the brakes could in fact need to be replaced so I had them do that. As to the lower ball joints I decided to wait and was told that that was dangerous and could cause a serious accident when/if they failed and they should be done. I told them that I would take it to my personal mechanic who had known the car from day 1. I called my mechainc and he said that with that low mileage the ball joints were probably ok so i waited until the 60000 mile check and had him confirm the condition of the lower ball joints. He said they were fine and there was no need to do anything to them! With this information I am now questioning whether or not I even needed to have my brakes done. I probably won't be taking my car back th Honda of Seattle again based on this experience. And on top of that I still get notices that my car needs to be brought in for replacement of the air bags.
