My wife came from a prior abusive marriage and has PTSD. She has spent almost all of her life on assistance of every-kind. She never had a chance to have a almost new car. For most of her marriage she was not allowed to drive. I wanted to give her the opportunity to have this. I had a lot of respect for Larry and Gail Miller. I was with her while we looked at some cars. Honestly the salesman and the manager were nice but stupid. i.e. "you can always re-finance to a lower rate" , Truth= she has bad credit and the car she is going to by is worth less than the loan value for many years, (she is upside down!). I don"t know if they said all the things that predatory salesmen say, or they just don't know how things really work. So anyway, i wanted to give her the experience of buying her car, so I went outside for a while. I came back in to tell her we should think about things overnight and she was in the financing booth. I was greeted with "congratulations! she just bought a car" by the finance manager. I responded with could we have overnight to think about it? I was told "She just signed the contract and there is nothing I can do". He also said there is no rescission in Utah, and there was nothing we could do to change the fact she just bought a car. Obviously the most important thing was to get my wife to sign RIGHT THEN. My poor wife has never done anything like this before, so I thought they would not take advantage of her. She walked out of there with every warranty they could add, and a ridiculous interest rate for 7 years, FOR A USED CAR! I understand now that Mark Miller Toyota is just another used car lot. In retrospect i should have been with her more of the time to protect her from the predatory salesmen and their games i.e. "I don't know if we can do this, but let me ask my manager" or "I enjoy helping people", or "we are not happy till your happy". My wife was zoomed from the time she set foot there. I was hoping for better for my wife. I am happy my wife has a pretty new car. she has never had anything like this in her life. I just expected better. Now I don't know why I would have thought they were any better... They are not.
