Red Fire is a great presence at farmer's markets, and events put on for the community are always enjoyable. However, as a former employee, it was extremely distressing watching some members of the Somali harvest crew mistreat animals that found their way onto the farm. These crew members use hoes to drive out kildeer from their nests when planting over them, throw rocks at garter snakes in an effort to kill them, and once tore a frightened mouse away from nursing babies while management stands idly by. I'm more likely to buy from a farm when I know the wildlife around it is being respected.
