I've been an opera fan since college when I took a liberal Arts course on the subject. The Met is an irreplaceable landmark with legendary performances with awe-inspiring, magnificent sets and world-class singers. I understand from a recent 60 Minutes segment on the Met that the general manager Peter Gelb is undertaking a campaign to transmit Live in HD performances to national movie theaters. I couldn't be more pleased to see them trying to cultivate a wider audience this way and spread the wealth of culture to a new generation.
