Very positive experience. The half day solution is great for who wants to visit beautiful places, but within time constraints (flights for example) or for who prefers to do also other things during the whole day (shopping, chilling out with friends, etc.). My visit to Gendalough and Wicklow was well balanced in terms of time spent on the bus and time dedicated to walk and explore the places.
