Location: just next to Plaza de Vazquez de Mella in the hip and gay Chueca district. Just one block to Gran Via, short walk to Chueca station.
Junior Suite: for our first night, we took a 35EUR upgrade to a junior suite because the other room was not ready yet (arrival at noon). The room is a bit larger with some kind of couch furniture, but it's horribly useless. The bed is horribly designed as the pillows keep falling off behind it, as there is no wall or headpiece. there is no night stand. This kind of couch is not comfortable to sit on. There is lots of dead space that can't be used, no plants. I would not recommend taking this upgrade, not worth the money. The window only opens to a small amount, and the air-conditioning was not activated yet. minibar, safe, TV in room.
Deluxe Double Room: normal hotel room. Shower a bit weird to use, as it seems to be common with nice-looking designer stuff. minibar, safe, TV in room.
Breakfast: We only took breakfast in the hotel on two occasions as it is not included in the booking. The first morning was just a horrible experience. The Breakfast area was way too small, most of the dishes were empty, the coffee machines dirty, no orange juice left, no glasses left, no cutlery left. On the second occasion it was a bit better, as we were a bit earlier and it was a weekday (Monday) and there seem to have been less people in the hotel overall. The coffee machines were still dirty (which seems to be related to the design of the coffee machines itself, it just squirts everywhere!) but at least there was cutlery, glasses etc.
others: free wifi, but it may be very slow at times. No option for "paid upgrade". In both rooms (503/505) we experienced quite some noise coming from the hallway from other travellers. Also, the room cleaning did not refill the coffee/tea amenities in the room on 2 occasions.
I'm not sure if I would stay here again though, to be honest
