Mixed might be the best way to sum up our thoughts on Beaver Run.

We came here for a wedding that was hosted at the resort.

The location is gorgeous, and you ll get interesting views from most angles. The staff for making and adjusting reservations was fast and courteous.

Upon arrival, check-in was slow (as was check-out) as the front desk seems understaffed - possibly not expecting any guests in the Summer months?

They have notices posted at the front desk that none of the rooms have A/C, because it gets so cold at night. That might fly in the Winter, where I m guessing they do most of their business, but if that s their position then they should close for the summer.

Speaking of the rooms, they re fine, clean but not exceptional, with older furnishings and fixtures. Related to the above about catering to Winter customers, the in-room heaters are kept on all year with some sort of pilot light, meaning that the summer months verge on unbearable, especially if you have North-facing windows. My wife burned her foot on the heater bar because the bed was shoved right up against it.

The actual venues for the resort (restaurants, etc) are all fine, but not great. Spencer s, the main restaurant, does a decent breakfast, and the breakfast buffet is maybe the best meal we ate at the resort.

Their main market/shop was out of some key amenities (like sunscreen. in June), and we ended up having to go into town a number of times. (Again, I get catering to Winter, but it seems to be at the price of the Summer customers).

The ballroom where the wedding reception was held were a little run-down, and a little run-down might describe the whole resort, sadly.

The one unequivocally nice part was the pool and hottubs. They were in good condition, and great in the evenings.

Overall, I could see Beaver Run being fine for a ski trip, where you re spending more time on the slopes than in the resort, but maybe stay somewhere else during the Summer. Or perhaps, given that it seemed cheaper than surrounding resorts, you get what you pay for.
