I purchased a vehicle from Prime Mazda through the Costco Auto Program in January 2020. I did not have a trade-in vehicle.
It was an efficient buying process. Prime Mazda accepts up to $2,500 on a credit card for payment. The $495 documentation fee was disclosed upfront. All RMV paperwork was processed quickly and correctly. I signed the purchase agreement and arranged for payment on a Tuesday and picked up my vehicle two days later that Thursday.
Doug in Sales, who works with Costco buyers, was very familiar with the Costco program and with the features, options, and accessories for both my vehicle and other vehicles in the Mazda line-up. He was also pleasant to work with throughout the buying process.
Erik, who accompanied me on the test drive, was also knowledgeable about the vehicle's features, how it compared to the competition, and achieved a good balance of providing information while letting me focus on driving.
Rob in F&I offered upsells that were relevant and tailored to me and were presented without off-putting high-pressure sales tactics. It was an effective approach, and I ended up purchasing an extended warranty/service contract. It was also much more effective than my experience with the finance manager at the dealership from which I purchased my previous vehicle who spent 90 minutes trying to hard-sell me on everything under the sun (including pinstriping) and only wanted to discuss pricing of add-ons in dollars-per-month and never as the total cost.
Doug was also kind enough to pick me up from the nearby commuter rail station on delivery day and took quite a bit of time to sit down in the vehicle with me and go over the operation of key features and how to navigate the infotainment system, including connecting my phone to the vehicle through Android Auto (this proved to be a bit of a challenge initially, but we got it to work).
In addition, I used my Costco Auto Program post-purchase coupon to receive 50% off (up to $200 off), including OEM all-weather mats and cargo liner. Doug helped me install them in my vehicle before I left the dealership.
All in all, I got a fair price and a good buying experience with Prime Mazda through the Costco Auto Program. I appreciated that no games were played, and nobody at the dealership ever tried to sneak in mandatory nonsense options like VIN etching.
I recommend both the dealership and the Costco Auto Program to potential Mazda buyers.
