I've been a platinum member at Marriott for over a decade. I have never had a bad experience at any Marriott. But this hotel stands out. I've used points to make reservation at other Marriott Hotels in past and cancelled if I cannot make it due to unavoidable circumstances. The great thing about being Marriott Platinum Member is that you can cancel anytime before check in and you get your points back. Its that simple. I've done this many times in many Marriotts around the globe. Nobody has ever charged me a fee.

However this hotel management seems to be greedy and ready to rip off customers and get some free money without authorization. They charged me 141$ WIITHOUT my authorization. There was no notification either prior to my cancellation or later on they will charge 141$.
I called their rewards help line and was told this is generally upto hotel management discretion and most cases manager waive this charge for platinum members. So that made sense on why we had this benefit with other hotels. Ive never seen a platinum member ripped off like this and this is not Marriott. But this hotel is different, abusing my credit card access they had and brining a bad name to Marriott brand.
