I don't believe I have ever been star-struck in my life until I came face-to-face with the space shuttle Atlantis, so close that I could very nearly touch it. The whole Kennedy Space Centre is full of experiences like this, from Atlantis to the actual console (not a replica) used for the Apollo launches to the (real and very enormous) Saturn V rocket suspended just just above your head (again, almost touching distance) in the Apollo exhibit, to the tour of the launch site we have all seen on TV so often. You can even touch a bit of real moon-rock. It is worth paying for the guided bus tour to have the knowledgeable and entertaining guide tell you all about the history of the site and what is going on right now. It was a really thrilling visit and I'll be back again the next chance I get.
