I should have realized there was a problem when upon arrival I saw three people with IV's sitting in the waiting room wrapped in blankets.... My husband who is never sick was having unbearable pain in his side and back and ended up at the ER at 5:00 am in the morning. The triage nurse was more like a robot and kept looking at the clock (shift change must have been close). We were told that there were no beds available to be seen until the others in back who were waiting for rooms were sent upstairs. We were sent back into the waiting room. While waiting a nurse or aid was calling out names then checking temp and blood pressure in the waiting area! After watching my husband suffer for close to 2 hours I approached the check-in attendant to ask what the delay was. I was informed that she had just arrived and that there were people who had been waiting for 7 hours that had not been seen yet and it would be awhile yet.. I asked what awhile was and her answer was that the RN's didn't start for another 30 mins and that there was NO ER Doctor on duty. She offered to ask for a timeline from the back and was told 5 hours to be seen. I couldn't see my husband being in unbearable pain and not knowing what the cause was and told to wait another 5 hours, maybe more. We left and went to Hurley!
