Even people who are not fans of opera or classical music will find a trip to the Met Opera House enjoyable. The edifice is magnificent. Their trademark starburst Swarovski crystal chandeliers are so beautiful. The gold leaf ceilings inside the performance space is quite impressive. The biggest opera stars in the world perform a very diverse selection of operas from the well loved repertory classics to contemporary work. The productions are incredible--sets, costumes, lights, props, supernumeraries that will make your jaw drop. The acoustics are unsurprisingly great and their orchestra is among the finest I've heard. Pick up a nice trinket at the gift shop.
