On December 23 we tried to return 3 light fixtures...

On December 23 we tried to return 3 light fixtures we purchased from Menards in Livonia. Melissa at the return desk literally ripped them out of hands and said that we were not supposed to have them, that there had been an error on a special order that we made and that we "illegally" were in possession of their merchandise. We tried to explain to her that we purchased the exact same 3 lights and returned them at the time we special ordered a different light fixture. We decided to repurchase the 3 lights in case the special order did not come in or that it would not work. These three lights were a different purchase made at the time of the special order and that we were now returning them. She would not hear us and we asked to see the manager once she literally ripped a light fixture out of our hand. The manager (Billy) said that 1) the person who wrote up the special order made a mistake and did not do it correctly 2) the shipping department made a mistake and gave us these 3 extra lights, 3)the cashier made a mistake and that is why the receipt is wrong. We suggested that they in fact were the ones who were making the mistake. Melissa gathered up all of the paperwork and refused to give the receipts back to us. We left the store when my husband said, "if you sold the style of coat I am wearing and I came into this store, could you take it off my back and say I had to prove that I bought it at an earlier date or you could keep it?" When the store manager said "Absolutely" we decided to leave. It had escalated to the point that my husband threatened to call the police because Melissa had physically accosted me. We now have no lights, no paperwork and are out $140 some thing. It seems like everyone working in the store makes mistake and the customer pays for it. We will never shop at Menards again and we will tell everyone to be careful about shopping at the Livonia Menards store.
