Rebecca Gause Adams Review of Kennedy Space Center Visitor C...

We were expecting a center more like Johnson Space Center or the Air and Space Museum. What we got was more like a theme park. 90% of what is offered in the main visitor complex is something on a screen. This is probably fun for kids, but not fun if you were expecting to see actual space memorabilia. Many of the buildings have staging areas, just like Disney, for example when we wanted to see the Saturn V and the Atlantis, you have to sit through two videos first. It took 30 minutes just to get into the building. And once you were in it, again, 90% of what you saw was on a screen. We finally found a nook that promised moon rocks and prototype space suits...and again, go through the staging area and movie first. The Challenger and Columbia memorials...more movies. The wait lines were punishing. It took more than an hour just to get into the gates, and that was with tickets booked in advance. The campus is sprawling and everything is in separate buildings, so lots of waiting in punishing heat. It is definitely catered to the Disney crowd. We were there for one whole day, and due to all the staging areas, only saw half the complex.
