I came here in 2017. It was an absolute disaster and an expensive lesson.
They are well rated on Yelp because somehow, negative ratings seem to get removed. I had my rating removed shortly after it was written. I hope Google does not allow this here.
I came here 5 days before my best friend's destination wedding in Hawaii to have my groomsman suit tailored. I told them this and they said it would be ready in 4 days.
Good, lots of time to spare I thought -- they said it was a lot of work since I needed to take the sides in, shorten jacket, shorten the sleeves, etc.
I was quoted the price and it was much much higher than I wanted to pay; about double what I expected. But they had really good reviews, so I figured, let's just do it, so I could actually wear it again. How wrong I was.
I came back 4 days later, and they told me it wasn't ready (!). They had PROMISED me it would be done by then and I had reiterated that I was leaving immediately after work the very next day for Hawaii. They said it would be done, and it wasn't.
He told me I needed to come back the next day and there was nothing they could do. This annoyed me further. They screw up and they saw no problem in pushing to the absolute last minute for me? I told them my situation way in advance and they had assured me it would be done, and I specifically paid a premium expecting promises to be kept. They should have stayed late and delivered on their end.... I was very angry.
But I had no choice, I needed the suit and there was no compromise.
I took off early from work and got here by 3:30PM. It was "ready", if you stretched the definition of the word to its very limit.
My suit was an absolute disaster. I don't get much tailoring work done, but even to my inexperienced eye, I could see it was shoddy work. The stitching for the shoulder was not even done, the inside lining was MISSING and there were open seams all over, and one of my jacket buttons was missing. Yes, simply and incredibly, MISSING. This was just amongst a slew of other glaring issues.
I was livid. I literally had 2 hours to get to the airport to make my flight, so I had no time to argue and have them fix everything I saw wrong, aside from making them sew the damn button back on.
Later on, after thinking back on it, I felt that they must have pushed it to the last minute on purpose so I wouldn't have time to argue with them.
I ended up just throwing the suit away and took my complaint to Yelp instead.
I received an e-mail saying my review was removed a couple days after I posted it. I'm not sure what is happening there behind the scenes, but it made a lot more sense why this place is rated so highly. There is absolutely no way someone who puts out this poor quality of work would have so few negative reviews.
I sincerely hope Google does not remove reviews like Yelp does.
Update: And recompense, I did. By writing this in complete honesty about my experience on a forum that does not censor. And lastly, I reiterate, my review was removed, so who knows how many other negative experiences were deleted?
