I'd like to share my most recent negative experience which is what prompted me to post this negative review. Yesterday I used two rebate checks in the amount of $12. My balance after the $12 was $17, which I paid in cash. Today I needed to return one item that cost $5. I was told they could only offer me the refund as a store credit because I used my rebate checks to make the purchase. Duh, that's what they're for! Had I only purchased product(s) that totaled $12, I could understand receiving a store credit, but that's not the case. It's almost like they are stealing from me! I am being forced to buy something from them when the $5 refund should have been given back to me in cash to do with whatever I please! I complained to the store manager which got me nowhere. All I was told is that's how the computer is set up, it's store policy. As others have mentioned it's useless to try to contact corporate. Whoever answers the phone connects you with customer services which is a recording telling you to write or fax your complaints to them. Or, you can talk with the store manager which won't get you anywhere. It's for sure I will consider going to Home Depot more now, or make one purchase for the amount of the rebate check, and another for anything above the amount of the rebate check. What a bunch of BS!
