A gorgeously themed classic hotel. The Arctic Club...

A gorgeously themed classic hotel. The Arctic Club's decor hearkens back to a bygone era of exploration. The room's furniture and finishings carey over the decor from the lobby and lounge. You'll find dressers and nightstands that resemble steamer trunks, mirrors wrapped in nautical rope and lamp shades with maps. Everything is in a rich dark walnut color scheme. The building itself is about a century old so the room layout is at the mercy of the classic architecture. That makes for some spacious rooms with enough room for two queen beds and a sitting area. The bathroom is equally cavernous with - as my son remarked - the fancy toilet paper.

Your view may suffer from the immense gouge in the earth at the corner of 3rd Ave. and Cherry St., but you also get a great view of Smith Tower. You're right at the edge of Pioneer Sqaure, walking distance to the train station, CenturyLink Field, Safeco Field, the waterfront, the underground transit tunnel, and all the tourist attractions around old Seattle. You're also less than 15 minutes away from Pike Place. You'll find no shortage of dining options in the immediate area.

The Arctic Club is a hidden gem, competitively priced with some of the other mid- to high-end hotels in downtown Seattle.
