I took my Camry for scheduled maintenance (oil change). Even though I showed up earlier than my appointed time, they took me in, and I was out of there in about 45 min.
Of course, they try to tell you there are a thousand things wrong with the car that you need to take care of, but you can just say "no" politely ("I'll think about it", or similar), and normally they don't get pushy. For example, this time they didn't flag something they told me I needed to take care of last time I was there. This shows that some of the stuff they just tell you to do it to get money out of you, but it is not that essential.
I will most likely bring my car here next time it needs service.
