I am not sure where all the negative reviews are coming from. My colonoscopy was scheduled very quickly only a week and half out and that was likely because I requested a female doctor. It was difficult to get through to anyone on the phone, however my voicemails were returned promptly on the same day, not a big deal, just have a little patience with them. The nurses I spoke to were very friendly and mostly helpful. On the day of my appointment I was taken back promptly and the procedure itself was very fast! This was my first go around with getting a colonoscopy, I was actually terrified and had experienced extreme anxiety the entire week before my procedure. I was very nervous about getting sedated for my colonoscopy, I had spoken to several nurses/staff at the Digestive Health Clinic that told me over and over that I would be getting sedated for the procedure using Propofol. On the day of my appointment, still being nervous about sedation, I asked the nurse checking me in if I had to have sedation. He told me that NO IT IS NOT REQUIRED, its a personal preference! I only wish that one of the first nurses would have told me this to eliminate a week full of terrible anxiety. Dr. Shea and her nurses Emily and Jessica were amazing helping me get through my first colonoscopy without any sedation or pain meds! It was obviously very uncomfortable in some spots/going around corners however I survived through the pain. I would recommend anyone who is nervous about sedation to at least try the procedure without it. You won't regret it and the staff are so comforting and helpful in getting you through it! Thank you!
