Judith Chou Review of Pony Lounge and Dining

Despite the good ambiance and fine tasting food, the service at the restaurant is extremely inconsistent. We got a table for 3 a little before 9pm and specifically asked for sparkling water assuming there would be extra costs. However, after one pour of sparkling, our server refilled our glasses with tap for the rest of the night. When confronted about it, she explained that they pour a glass of sparkling for around 5 dollars per person and provide tap refills there on after. The bill came and we were charged $17.20 total for what? A third of a glass of actual sparkling water, a glass of extremely diluted sparkling and half a glass of tap each. What a joke.
Our server was also too busy conversing and laughing in French with the bartender to notice that the couple seated next to us were waiting for the bill for at least 20 minutes, while we waited for at least 10. This was after 10pm but the restaurant was still fairly populated. As she rang us up for the bill she was even quite impatient and gave us no sense of privacy as she instructed us how to give tip or not, as if expecting a reward for lying to our faces ( I looked at other google reviews where Pony Dining explained the $5.70 charge for UNLIMITED sparkling water).
There were a few other waiters during our dining experience who were quite professional and friendly, and I m sure our experience would have been much more pleasant had we received service from literally anyone else.
