We stayed June 29/30 and had a wonderful experience. From the moment you leave your car with valet parking ($45) and enter the fragrant lobby, (seriously this hotel smells so good) you are transported to another place and time. Fresh flowers and art everywhere add to the ambiance. Everything is beautifully clean and the staff are friendly and helpful. Our room was immaculate and the beds were very comfortable. We overlooked Brazos and 6th Street but never heard any street noise and slept soundly. Happy Hour in the lounge was busy but we were served promptly. Later, the live music there was infectious and a few patrons got up to dance. Relaxing on the balconies was a treat with a lovely breeze. The ballroom and Hogg rooms were beautiful, the bathrooms ornate. Breakfast in the cafe off the lobby was delicious. We also enjoyed the paper we received on checking in that told of the history of the Driskill. Highly recommend-will definitely stay here again. Note- if valet parking is full, (the 12 passenger van behind us was turned away) a parking lot two blocks east had 24 hour parking for $28.
