Short review: excellent staff, comfortable bed, lots of space, as quiet as it gets in the city, ideal location, good food: we WILL be back!!

Long review: Perfect location for all of our adventures since it was so close to the 42nd Street Metro entrance and the Port Authority. The staff was amazing. Shelly checked us in on Thursday morning with a smile, expertise, and perfection. Checked us out the same way 6 days later. Night staff provided us with a sewing kit when I had a sewing emergency. Every day, for 6 days, when we passed the front desk we saw smiles & helpful employees.

Our room was on the 16th floor, and had almost everything we needed: comfortable king bed & 6 pillows, kitchen with microwave, stove top, dishwasher & full size fridge, desk area, two stools at a small table, drawers & closet space, a safe, clock radio with AC & USB plugs, and a comfortable chair & ottoman. The bathroom was a good size, with amenities (lotion, shower gel, shampoo, and conditioner) & magnifier make up mirror. Higher wattage lighting would have made it perfect. Each side of the bed had end tables. On my side of the bed was the clock radio - but no lamp. Husband s side of the bed had a lamp, and 2 outlets.

We decided to stay in one night at the hotel to relax, and watched whatever we could find on the flatscreen TV. Selections were limited as the NBC station was pixelated, with stuttering sound. We couldn t get the ABC station. When we checked out, Shelly said this was NOT normal. We should have called. Now we know! We enjoyed reading USA TODAY which was complimentary.

Breakfast was a mixed bag. Most of the selections were very good (coffees, teas, juices, breads, cereals, fruit including oranges, banana, & apples, eggs, meat and potatoes). One morning we were not sure what the meat was - chicken or turkey bacon? Was it cooked completely? That same morning the eggs were not as warm as we would have liked. One morning pancakes didn t seemed cooked. BUT we did find something good to eat every morning. The staff who cleared away dirty plates & trash was fast, friendly, and efficient. It was packed every morning & finding someplace to sit was a challenge - at 7:30 or 8:30 or 9. Downstairs in the parlour, it was less busy for breakfast, with almost the same choices, not as many tables & chairs, and we bussed our own table. But it was peaceful and easy to navigate.

The elevators were fast when we were on them by ourselves or with a few people. In the morning, we took the 214 stairs down since the 3 elevators were packed with folks and their luggage, on the way to check out. But going up the wait for the elevator was no more than 5 minutes. Sometimes we would walk down to the parlour floor to secure a spot on the way up. When we checked out at 10:35, our elevator came quickly & was empty!
