NASA shares a bit of a flare for the dramatic at their Visitor s Center there s sweeping instrumental music playing in nearly every corner wherever you go and amazing things to do and see. It really has come a long way and changed over the years.
Some of the highlights for me take the tour bus to the Apollo complex either first thing or after visiting the Hero s 3D story presentation and hall of fame displays. Also, the launch simulator was quite fantastic and nearly worth the half hour wait. One insider tip, though: if the posted wait time says 15 minutes, don t believe it for one minute. It ll likely be between 30-45 minutes before you actually get on the ride.
Also, before you hop in line, stow your bags and purses in the free lockers provided off to the right of the line. FIRST go enter a four-digit PIN number of your choice twice in a row (remember that number) it ll then give you a four-digit number of your locker number where you ll keep those items in. Enter your PIN number, hit enter, and then turn the knob to open up your locker and stow your gear in. You ll enter that same PIN number to get your stuff out of.
WORD OF CAUTION: be careful not to let the locker close all the way on you as you re getting your things out until AFTER you have all of your stuff out of the locker. Poor engineering has made it that you could easily lock some belongings in the locker should the door close prematurely. That said, they do seem to have security personnel on hand at all times to help with lock-out situations. To me it sounds like they need to change the lockers and how they work.
One more word of advice EVERY SINGLE ATTRACTION seems to empty out THROUGH a gift shop. Of course this is by design. They want you to buy something on the way out... at EVERY SINGLE ATTRACTION. Just be prepared to manage the expectation of your kids.
