Vidanta is a scam Here are the basics.

Vidanta is a scam Here are the basics.
We went in Jan 2018 for a family trip, we took two rooms at the Mayan Palace.
People are very friendly but they will try to get your money, with lies, false promotions.

The first day we were offered a 50% discount card in the Restaurants for breakfast in exchange for a one hour talk. The talk was not an hour, they made us lose the whole day and the discount card is practically unusable because they make different maneuvers to discourage the use of it. The first day they told us that the discount was applied in the restaurant "Havanna Moon" but when we arrived at the restaurant they told us that the discount was changed to the restaurant "El Quinto" which is in a place with very difficult access, and like the complex It is very large it is very annoying to change restaurants, especially when you try to have breakfast on vacation. On the second day we went to have breakfast at the restaurant "el Quinto" and an employee of the place told us that it was closed. Incredibly, this change of restaurant where the discount applies was done 3 times in a week, which is highly suspicious. Additionally, the discount only applies from 10.30am to 11.30am. The day we were able to use it we had to wait until 11 a.m. for a table and we had to choke on breakfast because after 11.30 a.m. they take away the food, I made a complaint about it requesting that they apply the discount on breakfasts and they never responded. In short, you do not have to participate in the talk because you will lose a day of your vacation without any consideration in return.
One of the rooms had a musty smell and it was never fixed.
At the time of check out, expenses appeared of which we had not been informed. In the first place they charge two supposed taxes per day and per room, in this sense we asked for two rooms but they charged us the supposed taxes for three rooms arguing that one of them had 2 rooms, they did not respond to my claim either.
In second place in the summary, they compulsively add a charge of MX $ 300 of "DONATION" that they do not report either, dishonest from all points of view. I had to ask to have it removed.

The lobby is large and upmarket. The rooms are fine, but they are old, the contrast is stark between what it looks like and what it really is. The sea baths in that area are bad, since the entrance to the sea is covered by stones. The gastronomy is good but they are expensive, the average cost of the place setting for dinner is usd 28 per person, the cost of breakfast without the discount is usd 19 per person. The average cost of the drinks is US $ 8 and they are of regular quality being that they use concentrated artificial juice, the cost of beer is about US $ 4. There is a happy hour until 2:00 p.m. where 2 x 1 applies.

The good thing about the place:
The pools are large, the people are friendly, the buffet breakfast is very rich in variety. You can spend a pleasant stay in the pool area and in the beach area next to the restaurant "havanna moon". The internal paths for walking are very beautiful due to the vegetation and the animals.

Compared to the hotel offer with similar characteristics:
Vidanta is a system designed for you to buy your timeshare or to use by exchange. When entering the lobby at the counter there is a sign that says "room with two bedrooms usd 730 per day without meal plan." It is very funny that they put that poster on the entrance counter being that Vidanta is definitely not worth that. As a last detail that substantiates what I say: In the rooms on the counter there is a sign that says, "When leaving the room the dishes must be clean, otherwise you will be charged the cleaning fee." I don't know of anyone who wants to pay $ 730 a night to have to wash the dishes on departure.
They should change the sales system and sell what they can really offer honestly
