First of all let me say that the Technician who actually completed the repair was amazing, this review does not apply to him in any way. However LGs customer service up to that point was horrible. The compressor went on our Fridge- was bought Jan 2018 broke down June 2019, one year warranty expired. Called LG Canada and waited on phone for 45 mins, finally they answered said compressor and labour was covered. Hold on the line so they could look up dates to send someone- our call was dropped. Called again and the predicted waiting time was another 45mins to speak to someone - did the call back option and was called back 2.5 hours later! Story changed and labour was not covered. Between seeing what we could do to reset fridge, diagnosing it, figuring out when techs were available I probably spoke to 3 different people. They all highly suggested the flat rate option of $330 because the labour apparently took 3-4hours to replace the compressor, the guy wasn t even here an hour! Not only that but I couldn t book the guy over the phone it had to be done online, which is a waste of time when I m already on the phone, but whatever I did it. LG gave me two options from contracted out techs and I booked the first one, rearranged my whole work schedule to accommodate just to find out a day later that he can t do it because they don t replace compressors (why were they even an option!?) called LG back waited another hour to get ahold of someone then was told the day I booked for repair wouldn t work for them so had to wait 2 days longer! And ended up having to miss a day of pay to accommodate them for the expected 3-4hour compressor replacement that only actually took 50mins! Called LG back because we were mislead that we would save money if we did flat rate of $330 as Opposed to the 98$hourly rate. LG customer service straight up said if the guy was working hourly he would have taken longer! LG has warranty for their compressors themselves because they know they have issues! Train your techs and follow up with actual replacement times instead of wasting our time! Not only did they try to blame it on the parts required for the compressor replacement, as they don t actually repair the compressors they replace them only- that s how they Tried to spin the flat rate costs even though before it was all about how much time it would take. If the compressor is covered under warranty any parts needed to replace and make that compressor work should be covered under the compressor warranty it s part of the compressors functionality!
Absolutely horrible customer care that was very misleading and a wast of personal time, also they have error codes that show on the fridge screen if the compressor is a common issue then they should probably have an error code for that, but they don t, your food just goes bad and you get put through the ringer over the phone and have to wait a week for repairs and pay a misleading outrageous cost. Very dissatisfied with LG and will not be buying they re products again
