Massimiliano Impiglia Review of IHG Carlton Cannes

The Carlton in Cannes is one of the most famous hotels in the world (it is the hotel where Alfred Hitchcock turned to Robber Hunt and Grace Kelly gave Cary Grant one of the most famous kisses in the history of cinema, for one thing ...), and sleep there gives the feeling of being part of the story for a couple of nights. Given this, I must admit though that our stay was not particularly exciting. The structure is too old, ok, but the worst faults are other, unjustifiable in the circuit of the big hotels of today: the TV in the room is very old and does not offer any adequate entertainment system (in addition to a bad mix of international channels), the wifi is paid and can cost up to 200.00 euros (!!!) per day, breakfast is not enthusiastic and leaves no special memories (even if some sweets are really exceptional, but this is known), the furniture in our room they were peeling and the cleaning was not of a level adequate to the importance of the hotel, the staff in principle does not seem particularly efficient and prepared. In short, even if reluctantly I find myself forced to reject my experience in this hotel, recognizing it as an unattainable charm but an obvious inadequacy in our times. P.s .: it is unacceptable then, in my opinion, to transform a historic building of such value into a small shopping center by filling the lobby with shops and billboards for luxury goods ...
